The Ministry of Education (MEC) included financial education in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) as a contemporary theme that will integrate the Basic Education curriculum. Thus, based on minimum content, laid out in the BNCC, and a transversal proposal, the pilot and pedagogical projects of both public and private Brazilian schools, must include content that helps improve student abilities and competencies relative to personal finances and the use of money, whether in a personal sphere or within the family.

In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, there are few records of geographical distribution and host plants to species of Tomoplagia Coquillett, as well as other genera of Tephritidae, especially those associated with plants of the family Asteraceae. Here, we report the first occurrence of Tomoplagia rudolphi (Lutz & Lima, 1918) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, inducing stem galls in Vernonanthura tweediana (Baker) H. Rob. (Asteraceae, Vernonieae), whose plant becomes a new host record for this species. In this way, is increased to nine species of Tomoplagia recorded for Rio Grande do Sul. Biological and morphological data and photos of gall, larvae, pupae at new host and distribution map of the species in Brazil are provided.

***In the present article, we initially have sought to know the designation and classification of schools in Rio Grande do Sul, between 1897 and 1942, in order to historicize the concepts of "public" and "private". Next, we have intended to understand how the actions of creation and maintenance of schools were distributed among public agencies and private entities in Porto Alegre in the period. For this purpose, we have mobilized theoretical contributions from Reinhart Koselleck and Pierre Bourdieu, and we have taken as documentary sources the legislation, official reports presented by the state government and by the municipality, memorialistical publications of a private educational institution. The results indicate a diverse distribution of attributions from the one that appears in current legislation, both regarding to the role of public and private institutions in the provision of education in the municipality, as well as to the understanding of ways to meet public and private interests in the period. Thus, the action of private institutions was considered as being of public interest once it has enabled the expansion of the educational services of elites at levels of education in which the State had no plans to act. The offer of schooling for the poor population at these levels was restricted and largely dependent on the offer of scholarships based on criteria that were not explicitly stated in the documentation.

MAPPING CAREER ANCHORS AMONG BASIC EDUCATION TEACHERS: POSSIBLE EFFECTS ON TRAINING AND PERFORMANCEAbstract: This paper analyzes the results of an educational workshop that focused on career anchors. The participants included 79 basic education teachers who work in the municipality of Palma Nova, which is located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The study was developed within the continuing education framework from 2013 to 2014 by means of a university-school partnership. Data were collected through a questionnaire developed by Schein (1996), which is known as Inventory of Career Anchors. Such a questionnaire aimed at mapping eight anchors or professional choices. Among the career anchors identified, service and dedication to a cause was the first as well as the second anchor in all groups analyzed, and lifestyle was the third one. The analysis of the first and second anchors, according to these professionals’ beliefs, shows that the profession of teaching is still associated with the idea of fulfilling a philanthropic mission, self-sacrifice and relinquishment. Keywords: Career Anchors. Teaching profession. Basic education.

Financial education is one of the most recent themes in the scope of public policies, given its elevated capacity to generate positive external effects (LUSARDI, 2006). The challenge created with its integration into the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) in 2020 hints at this relevance. It became the apex among several areas of knowledge, by becoming part of a series of subjects included in the Primary and High School Education curriculum. The idea is that this movement leads to a reformulation of the Basic Education curriculum through the efforts of all subnational entities, aimed at preparing pedagogical projects at schools that include financial education (BANCO CENTRAL DO BRASIL, 2013).

The first occurrence of Fritziana aff. fissilis (Miranda-Ribeiro, 1920) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, is reported. The records were obtained near the sources of the Rio dos Sinos, municipality of Caraá, and extend the range of the species 140 km south from where it was previously known. The new records also represent the first time a species of the family Hemiphractidae is recorded in the state.
