English language learning (ELL) websites are now regarded as one of the most important tools in learning language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate how a number of 36 female high school students aged between 16 and 18 years old in Saudi Arabia would evaluate ELL websites. The study adapted evaluation criteria from Yang and Chan (2008), who developed valid criteria for evaluating the ELL websites. The present study explored students’ evaluation criteria in ELL websites by distributing an electronic questionnaire consisted of 15 items. The evaluation criteria were information on the author, listening, speaking, reading, and writing on ELL websites. The results are analyzed by using SPSS Version 21. The descriptive results indicate that students have high evaluation criteria in terms of reading and listening skills. On the other hand, Information on the author, writing, and speaking skills had the lowest evaluation criteria, receptively. Finally, this study was concluded with a discussion addressed the importance of enhancing students’ evaluation criteria in order to promote their digital literacy.

<p>The aim of this research is to determine the attitudes of secondary level students regarding the skills in English as a Foreign Language and to compare the level of relationship between the academic success at English and the attitudes measured. Attitudes and success levels of the students of secondary education regarding their language skills were found to be high. A significant relationship at a linear low level was observed between the academic success of the students and their attitudes towards English language skills. In this study, the attitudes of high school students measured according to their gender concerning their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, showed difference in favor of female students. Again, high school students’ attitudes towards writing, speaking and listening skills except for the attitudes towards reading skills do differentiate according to the type of school in which they receive education.</p>

Background: Nowadays, Tik Tok as one of the most popular applications influences the growth of its users significantly because it can be used for educational purposes. The growth of content creators that teaches everything based on their background knowledge takes positive impact on people who watch their videos. Especially videos that increase vocabulary and the usage of it, for example, a video that shows people do something while mention what they do can be called as verb. Today, many content creators make English material content. One of the reasons people difficult to understand English language is because they do not understand the meaning. This study aims to describe the influence of Tik Tok to improve vocabularies. By improving various vocabularies they are easy to understand what they read, speak, and listen. Junior high school and senior high school students were the participants of this research. Method: This research used survey as research design by applying online questionnaire as instrument. Results: The findings of this research show that short videos on Tik Tok that contain English material contents help them to expand their English vocabularies. Students show positive feedback of utilizing Tik Tok as their language learning media that the English content videos easy to understand and easy to memorize various vocabularies they found on those videos, like vocabularies about verbs, nouns, etc. Conclusion: Using Tik Tok as the media for learning language can be considered nowadays. Students expressed positive impact of English material contents that increase their vocabulary by watching those videos.

Due to the pandemic condition, we rely more on the technology usage. Technology presents us plentiful advantages and features in the teaching and learning. Specifically in smart phones, android nowadays offer numerous applications of language learning in Play Store. This article shows the benefits of Android applications namely Duolingo, Busuu, Rosetta Store, and Memrise in learning English language. These apps enhance the user’s four language skills mastery using games, riddles and other various ways. By learning language independently, students may also their cognitive, meta-cognitive and affective skills. It aids learners to gain their goals in a fun and enjoyable ways. Further, it is also beneficial in terms of improving students’ motivation and confidence, easy and simple, practical and entertaining, and sustainability.

The field of digital literacy is developing rapidly; consequently, the interest of researchers has also shifted now. The current research study was to explore the role of online learning Apps available on smartphones in improving graduate students' English language proficiency. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used in this study. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had close-ended and open-ended questions. Questionnaires were distributed among 480 graduate-level students studying in 6 universities of Punjab, Pakistan. Data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 22.0) to find out results in the form of Percentage, Mean Score, Standard Deviation by applying the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the study demonstrated the potential of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) as an anticipatory approach to improving English language skills. Results showed that students were pleased to use smartphones to improve their English language proficiency. They responded positively about the role of smartphones in improving English language skills. On the basis of findings, the researcher concluded that smartphone plays an important role in improving students' English language proficiency.

Despite their potential in language learning, films have not been covered adequately in academic research except some attempts to develop strategies. One of these strategies has been to compare film scripts and their translations, to identify chunks, technical terms, and creative language examples and to list them with their translations, and to do creative dialogue writing activities especially by modeling these scripts where chunks are used extensively. Believing in the importance of evaluating the film scripts with their translations, this study aims to investigate the processes the researcher/teacher's high school students went through in learning and using the target language starting with the use of the film adaptations of the literary works, writing their scripts modeling the film scripts, acting their own scripts, and shooting their performances. The mixed method research design was used with the triangulation of the qualitative and quantitative data. The 68 high school students' views were investigated with Likert scale (1-5) questionnaire along with their comments about the items.

This chapter presents some research findings in the area of self assessment,obtained from the European Leonardo Project: Learning English forTechnical Purposes (LENTEC), carried out 2001–2003. In this project,upper-secondary vocational students solved problem-based learning casesin a virtual environment. The project aimed at stimulating upper-secondaryvocational school students from six different European countries to improvetheir English-language skills. It also aimed at helping foreign-languageteachers to develop their skills in online tutoring. A validation study wasundertaken and the results underscored that students need time andpractice to assess their own results. According to students and teachers, amajority of the students became more aware of their own language-learning development. The teachers in the project developed a new teacherrole where some of the responsibility for assessment moved from them to thestudents themselves. This not only motivated the students but also gave themadded time for actual language learning.

This study determines the effects of the application of multimedia technology -Computer-Assisted language learning (CALL) in the development of five language skills using ‘English Discoveries’. It shows that the effects of multimedia materials for language learning are not necessarily better as a whole, but different from those obtained in traditional classroom work. Only two of the five variables showed significant differences in favor of the use of Multimedia: pronunciation and oral production. However, grammar showed opposite results. The teachers’ and students’ reactions suggest the need to adapt their roles to the new context in the future use of CALL and multimedia. The high level of acceptance of this type of materials by the students shows the need for more research and better adaptation of activities to the new context.

Theoretically, four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing are interrelated and interactive in real communication. According to the system theory, the improvement of whole language ability can not be achieved by a simple combination of the four skills, but results from the interaction and coordination among the four skills. On the basis of some theories of physiology and psychology as well as principles of system theory, this paper analyzes the interrelationship among four language skills and finds that they have close and strong an impact upon one another. Then the paper inquires into the necessities and feasibility of improving overall English language skills of high school students by comprising four language skills in a more economic and effective way.
