This paper presents improved Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) of the Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Three-Phase Induction Motor (IM) for high performance and torque control industrial drive applications. The performance of the IM using PI Controllers and general fuzzy controllers are meager level under load disturbances and transient conditions. The FLC is extended to have a less computational burden which makes it suitable for real time implementation particularly at constant speed and torque disturbance operating conditions. Hybrid control has advantage of integrating a superiority of two or more control techniques for better control performances. A fuzzy controller offers better speed responses for startup and large speed errors. If the nature of the load torque is varied, the steady state speed error of DTC based IM drive with fuzzy logic controller becomes significant. To improve the performance of the system, a new control method, Hybrid fuzzy PI control is proposed. The effectiveness of proposed method is verified by simulation based on MATLAB. The proposed Hybrid fuzzy controller has adaptive control over load toque variation and can maintain constant speed.

At the present scenario, three-phase induction motors (IM) are having wide applications in the industries. So, the need for an effective controlling technique is compulsory. Various techniques are there to control the speed of IM. Soft computing techniques are having in a great improvement in the recent trends. This paper discusses on the scalar control technique of induction motor for conventional PI and fuzzy logic controller. The performance of an induction motor is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink with PI and fuzzy controllers, the results are analyzed and the techno feasibility of both the controllers is presented in detail. Torque-speed (T-N) characteristics of an induction motor for a traditional PI model are considered and compared with rules-based fuzzy logic

This paper presents a method for improving the speed profile of a three phase induction motor in direct torque control (DTC) drive system using a proposed fuzzy logic based speed controller. A complete simulation of the conventional DTC and closed-loop for speed control of three phase induction motor was tested using well known Matlab/Simulink software package. The speed control of the induction motor is done by using the conventional proportional integral (PI) controller and the proposed fuzzy logic based controller. The proposed fuzzy logic controller has a nature of (PI) to determine the torque reference for the motor. The dynamic response has been clearly tested for both conventional and the proposed fuzzy logic based speed controllers. The simulation results showed a better dynamic performance of the induction motor when using the proposed fuzzy logic based speed controller compared with the conventional type with a fixed (PI) controller.

It is known that controlling the speed of a three phase Induction Motor (IM) under different operating conditions is an important task and this can be accomplished through the process of controlling the applied voltage on its stator circuit. Conventional Proportional- Integral- Differeantional (PID) controller takes long time in selecting the error signal gain values. In this paper a hybrid Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) with Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to reduce the selected time for the optimized error signal gain values and as a result inhances the controller and system performance. The proposed controller FL with GA is designed, modeled and simulated using MATLAB/ software under different load torque motor operating condition. The simulation result shows that the closed loop system performance efficiency under the controller has a maximum value of 95.92%. In terms of efficiency and at reference speed signal of 146.53 rad/sec, this system performance shows an inhancement of 0.67%,0.49% and 0.05% with respect to the closed loop system efficiency performance of the PID, FL, and PID with GA controllers respectively. Also the simulation result of the well designed and efficient GA in speeding up the process of selecting the gain values, makes the system to have an efficiency improvement of 14.42% with respect to the open loop system performance.
