Serviços Ambientais são os serviços prestados pelos ecossistemas que contribuem para a sustentação da vida e a manutenção do meio ambiente, e os Pagamentos por Serviços Ambientais (PSA) são mecanismos de remuneração aos prestadores de serviços ambientais por parte daqueles que se beneficiam dos mesmos. Botucatu é um município do estado de São Paulo com um grande potencial para implantação de PSA e sem atividades na área. Portanto, devido a essa demanda, por meio de um estudo comparativo de projetos de PSA, nas escalas federal e estadual, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo a análise, a seleção e a proposição de critérios, contribuindo assim com a criação de uma proposta de política de PSA para o município de Botucatu.Palavras-chave: Recursos hídricos; projeto produtor de água; projeto mina d’água. AbstractContributions to a municipal policy proposal for environmental services payment: the case of Botucatu/SP. Environmental services are the ones done by the nature, that supports both the life and the environment. Payments for Environmental Services (PES) are financial transfers by beneficiaries of environmental services for the ones who provide such services due to conservation practices. Botucatu is a city in São Paulo State with a great potential for PES. Therefore, this paper develops a comparative study of PES projects in Federal and State ranges, aiming to analyze, select and propose criteria in order to contribute to the creation of a PES policy for the city.Keywords: Water resources; water producer project; headwater project.

The Chydorus and Pseudochydorus genera are widely distributed around the world. Some species of Chydorus are among the commonest anomopods and Pseudochydorus globosus, the only species of the genus, is believed cosmopolitan. This study was part of the project " Zooplanktonic biodiversity and state of degradation of continental water ecosystems in São Paulo State" , itself a part of the FAPESP/BIOTA Program - The Virtual Institute of Biodiversity (www.biotasp.org.br), the aim being to make an inventory and analyze the distribution of species of the genera Chydorus and Pseudochydorus in São Paulo State, Brazil. In total, 373 samples were collected from 223 water bodies in the Water Resources Management Units of São Paulo State, between 9/9/1999 and 8/28/2002. The sampled sites varied from small streams, rivers, ponds, lakes up to big reservoirs. Six species of the genus Chydorus and one of the genus Pseudochydorus were recorded. The most common and widely distributed species were Chydorus eurynotus and Chydorus pubescens. The species Chydorus parvireticulatus occurred only in one Water Resources Management Unit of the state, and constituted the first recorded of this species in São Paulo State.

Integrated water resources management approaches have been developed worldwide to improve water resources management practices. There are however, lingering issues with reference to the applicability of its integrated principles, especially when shifting from policy to practice (action). By conducting an exploratory case study in the Sao Paulo State, Brazil, this paper explores different stakeholders' perspectives regarding the water policy (Water Act of 1991). Through analysing institutional and water governance arrangements, the research assesses if current water policy is being translated into practice. Analysis suggests that the water policy and proposed principles are aligned with international approaches for water resources management. However, results also indicate that the principles by themselves are not sufficient to guarantee successful practice of a decentralised, participatory and integrated water resources management system. In a complex water management system, such as the one in the Sao Paulo State, coordination among different government levels and sectors is considered to be a key element to improve the likelihood of water policy implementation.

During the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic, farmers worldwide were greatly affected by disruptions in the food chain. In 2020, São Paulo city experienced most of the effects of the pandemic in Brazil, with 15,587 deaths through December 2020. Here, we describe the impacts of COVID-19 on urban agriculture (UA) in São Paulo from April to August 2020. We analyzed two governmental surveys of 2100 farmers from São Paulo state and 148 from São Paulo city and two qualitative surveys of volunteers from ten community gardens and seven urban farmers. Our data showed that 50% of the farmers were impacted by the pandemic with drops in sales, especially those that depended on intermediaries. Some farmers in the city adapted to novel sales channels, but 22% claimed that obtaining inputs became difficult. No municipal support was provided to UA in São Paulo, and pre-existing issues were exacerbated. Work on community gardens decreased, but no garden permanently closed. Post COVID-19, UA will have the challenge of maintaining local food chains established during the pandemic. Due to the increase in the price of inputs and the lack of technical assistance, governmental efforts should be implemented to support UA.
