In the last three decades, there are numerous studies have been done that investigate some extra role behaviors, their antecedents, and consequences. Although their beneficial effects are widely accepted, some recent studies indicate that extra role behaviors have not always voluntary nature i.e. compulsory citizenship behavior. Instead, the studies stress that sometimes extra-role behaviors are a product of pressure. Right at this point, compulsory citizenship behavior-the dark side of organizational citizenship behavior-appear in the management field. Despite the importance of this construct in terms of its potential negative effects, interestingly, there are limited researches in the literature. In this context, after a literature review on the concept of compulsory citizenship behavior, this study provides a theoretical framework on some rarely studied predictors i.e., ethical leadership, servant leadership, leader-member exchange. Managerial and further research implications are provided.

Organizational citizenship behavior means the extra role behavior of employee that is not in the role description. Managers expect from employees to show organizational citizenship behavior for benefits to the organization. This expectation may become an obligation over time, and an employee can perceive managers and co-workers' expectations for extra role behavior as a compulsory that will affect an employee's organizational attitudes and behaviors. This study's aim is to investigate the relationship between compulsory citizenship behavior and organizational commitment and, the mediating role of leader-member exchange in Turkey's cultural context. The data were gathered from the 222 employees in a public organization by convenience sample method at two points in time. Regression-based path analyses were conducted to explore the relationship between the variables. According to the results, compulsory citizenship behavior had a negative effect on organizational commitment and leader-member exchange fully mediated this effect.

This study aims to determine servant leadership on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) with employee empowerment and leader-member exchange (LMX) as a mediating variable and gender as a moderating variable in PT Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Region I / Sumatra 1. Analytical research design Multiple regression is used as an analytical tool to determine the direction of the variables studied and to justify how significant the influence of the independent and dependent variables is through the mediating and moderating variables. In this study using an associative method with a quantitative approach. In this study, a population of 113 employees and a sample of 113 employees at PT Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Region I / Sumatra 1. The results of this study indicate that the variable servant leadership has no significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) moderated by gender. Servant leadership has a significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) mediated by employee empowerment.

The individualized work-related agreements known as idiosyncratic deals (i-deals), which are negotiated between the employee and the employer, has been shown to affect employee outcomes. In this study, we suggest that social comparison theory, in addition to social exchange theory, can be used to explain the effect of i-deals on employee outcomes. This study explains the process through which i-deals lead to positive employee outcomes in the form of increased employee job satisfaction, organizational citizenship behavior, job performance, and reduced employee turnover. We hypothesized that employees’ perceived organizational support (POS), quality of relationship with the supervisor known as leader–member exchange (LMX), and quality of the relationship with the supervisor in comparison to others in the group termed as leader–member exchange social comparison (LMXSC) mediates the relationships between i-deals to outcomes. In a sample of 338 faculty employees nested in 49 departments from a private university, we found support for direct relationships between i-deals, outcomes, and mediators (POS, LMX, and LMXSC). We also found partial support for the mediation of LMX and LMXSC. The theoretical and practical implications of results are discussed.
