REMOTE WORKING AND WORK-LIFE BALANCE – THE REGULATIONS OF POLISH LABOUR CODE

Work-life balance is one of the key aspects of rempote working which deserves our attentions. The current regulations of the Labour Code does not make any explicit reference to work-life balance idea. However, in the legislative changes during the last two decades there is a trend away to take better account of the values that underpin this idea, such as privacy, family and equality in employment and on the albour market. As if follows from the above considerations, in the regulations of Labour Code more emphasis should be put on the protection of employee working remotely against the clash between the professional and private spheres of employee’s life. This is the case for the rules for the use of remote work oand certain flexible forms of work organisation, which should be more „equal” in nature. Secondly, this i salso true for regulations on working time. The current regulations, that indirectly implement the right to disconnect, do not reflect specific risks for work-life balance, relating to the common use of information and communication technologies in employment relations.

The intensive penetration of information and communication technologies into the labour market has also determined the modernisation of work organization processes. The digitization of information and telecommunications enabled to perform most of intellectual activities not only in the work premises but also in other spaces distant from the main workplace. Thus, as the technology revolution gradually releases modern intellectual work from the constraints of the physical location, telework is becoming an increasingly accelerating trend in the world. Together with technological changes allowing to reach the employee 24 hours a day and 7 days a week create challenges for teleworkers seeking to successfully reconcile two areas of life – work and personal life. Employees from different fields, among them accounting, audit, finances, analysis and others that carry out tasks via telework face this challenge.Relevance of the scientific research problem formulated in this paper was determined by the lack of studies in the scientific research to date, which would evaluate the intensity of telework use as an important factor that has a different effect on work-life balance.The research aim is to reveal the effect of the intensity of telework use on employee work-life balance. A quantitative study – the survey of telework employees was conducted and 320 respondents were surveyed. The results of the empirical study revealed that the intensity of telework use had equally positive effect only on two dimensions of work-life balance: time intended for the family and friends and time intended for oneself.

This article presents a reflection of how processes to reconcile work-life balance among academic mothers have changed during COVID-19. We present three autobiographical narratives that explore adapting and adjusting to research and teaching during remote work, confinement, and caring for one’s children. Intertwined in these narratives are themes of disruptions, responsibilities, and discoveries through these processes to adapt to COVID-19 and ongoing social and political crises.

The success of any organization is highly dependent on how it attracts and motivates its employees. Today’s organization must be more flexible so that they are equipped to develop their employees and enjoy their commitment. A balance between two Significance areas of human life can be achieved only with a high quality of working life, but it is now subject to serious variations of the active spread of remote forms of employment. The article deals with studying the state of Quality of work-life balance during the period of changes in work life due to the pandemic of Covid-19, and the forced transition to remote work. Aim: 1. To identify the prevalence of dimensions of the quality of work-life balance. 2. To find the Challenges faced with working remotely. Methodology: Using Questionnaire, survey research was conducted over 106 employees. Data Analysis was done using Correlation Coefficient using IBM SPSS The study has made it possible to determine the Quality of work-life balance and the challenges faced due to the transition to remote work. Result: The relation between the dimensions and Overall Quality of work life Balance in the concern are positively correlated. A small division of workforce has few problems in balancing with the quality of work life while working remotely. Having time to multi-task work and life tasks, working remotely will support you to strike an improved life balance. Sincere effort in this direction will yield rewarding results.

This article sets out to investigate how flexitime and teleworking can help women maintain their careers after childbirth. Despite the increased number of women in the labour market in the UK, many significantly reduce their working hours or leave the labour market altogether after childbirth. Based on border and boundary management theories, we expect flexitime and teleworking can help mothers stay employed and maintain their working hours. We explore the UK case, where the right to request flexible working has been expanded quickly as a way to address work–life balance issues. The dataset used is Understanding Society (2009–2014), a large household panel survey with data on flexible work. We find some suggestive evidence that flexible working can help women stay in employment after the birth of their first child. More evidence is found that mothers using flexitime and with access to teleworking are less likely to reduce their working hours after childbirth. This contributes to our understanding of flexible working not only as a tool for work–life balance, but also as a tool to enhance and maintain individuals’ work capacities in periods of increased family demands. This has major implications for supporting mothers’ careers and enhancing gender equality in the labour market.

The dynamics of socio-economic, personal and career advancement aspects were analysed from 75 information and communication technology (ICT) women professionals, from 7 various ICT organisations from Bengaluru, India. ICT industry continues to be the largest private sector employer in India for women in that 800,000 women currently working in this sector account for over 30 per cent of the existing hires and this figure is all set to rise in the future. The characteristics of the ICT industry in India and the nature of the work pose some unique challenges for women professionals in the industry. This study focuses on how does work and family related factors influence the work life balance and work conflict of women professionals. It is very evident that career oriented women has to manage / balance work & life due to stereotypic roles played. ICT women professionals have agreed that their career advancement is influenced by work or personal life enhancement. ICT Women Professionals have said that they have been affected by gender through various reasons on work interferences with personal life & career advancement. It is evident that there is a concern among women professionals working in shifts and it does bring in work on family conflict & family on work conflict.There is a very high significant relationship between Work Life Balance (WLB) and Work Life Conflict (WLC). Even when there is a support from the family, the individual undergoes conflict on not managing both sides effectively.WLB & WLC is a significant factor leading to overall performance of the ICT Women Professionals.They should possess strong work role salience since work helps define the career-cantered professional’s self- concept, which should further intensify the potential incompatibility between the work and life domains.

Within an ever-changing, digitalized world, the working methods have vastly changed over the last few decades. If the effects of a contemporary event such as COVID-19—the global pandemic started in the Hubei region of China at the end of December 2019—are considered, the changes have reached beyond just the practical logistics of working and crossed otherwise untouched social and emotional barriers. As a result of the pandemic, new working ways on an international level have become considerably more prominent. With the post-modern paradigm, organizations have focused on their employees and see them as stakeholders and developed a set of policies and standards under the guise of “an employee-friendly organization.” This chapter sheds light on strategies on how to maintain work-life balance in a virtual environment of remote work, new regulations, and the gaining importance of employee satisfaction, ensuring remote employees feel cared for, valued, and included.
