Ship recycling has been considered as a low technology industry. It has been established that there are more than a dozen stake holders in ship recycling having their own interests and roles. Apart from this, most of the ship recycling activities are carried out with poor infrastructure support and without adhering to proper safety and environmental standards. A Knowledge-based support is the need of the hour for improving the status of ship recycling industry. Knowledgebase support in the form of a computer based expert system encompassing entire ship recycling activities is considered as a very useful step in this direction. This paper presents the need for a user friendly expert system for ship recycling process. Two important functions of the expert system have been presented, one for the Administrators, the stake holders at the helm of the ship recycling affairs and second one for the Users, who execute the actual dismantling have been presented.

This paper describes how a knowledge-based system for automating the process planning of progressive die design is enhanced and developed into a tutoring aid for tool and die trainees. This is achieved by incorporating an explanation engine that scans the status of the plan stored in the knowledge-base and provides reports to the user. According to the status of the plan, actions are suggested by the explanation engine to guide the user to achieve his goals. As the system is able to provide a ‘first-guess’ solution to each step of the planning process, it allows the trainee to develop the plans very quickly. It also serves as an effective tutoring aid for learning a large number of die design case studies within the time allocated for the subject.

The most important affecting factors to World economy include knowledge, proficiency and inventiveness of people. Education is allied with improved skills, and better human capacity to progress the quality of life. The development of country depends on the status of higher education in country. Every year, MHRD, India collects details about Higher Education from universities using AISHE Portal to plan National Policy on Education but in the existing AISHE system, user interface is not provided to the users; they are downloading PDF file from Portal and then after entering necessary details in PDF file offline they upload PDF file on portal. Here we have implemented Semantic Web Enabled System on Apache Jena Fuseki Server using Virtual Private Server (VPS). Researchers provide knowledge based AISHE user friendly system with GUI interface & implemented CRUD operation on VPS. Proposed AISHE system provides benefits of SW such as machine understandability, reusability, interoperability, inference of new knowledge, reduces development time etc; as Ontology is used for development.

Kata kunci : Sistem Pakar, Gizi Buruk, Dempster-Shafer, WebsiteAbstract : Expert system is a computer-based system that uses knowledge facts, and reasoning in solving problems which usually can only be solved by an expert on a particular field, ome community health center of tidore island city, to register a malnutrition in children do it manually, So it takes a long time. This research aims to design an application expert system to determine the status of malnutrition in children using dempster-shafer, where there are several types of malnutrition that is commonly experienced by children, therefore in this case there are 3 types of malnutrition are discussed is marasmus (lack of energy), khowarsiorkor (protein deficiency), and marasmus-khowarsiorkor (lack of protein and energy), used to combine separate pieces of information (evidence) to calculate the probability of an event. The existence of this research are expected to make it easier for parties to seek in managing and keep track of malnutrition in children in Ome community health center of tidore island cityKeywords : Expert Sistem,Malnutrition,Dempster-Shafer, Website

The phrase 'knowledge economy' has acquired currency as powerful as the adjective 'modern' once had. This paper explores the meaning of knowledge-based economy from the perspective of the South and traces the rise of the information sciences and the interplay between information technology and the present globalisation. Particular consideration is given to who is included and who is excluded in this new world order. Being involved in education, the authors are concerned to examine the track record of computer-based applications to education and the prospects for these to achieve the much elusive productivity gains in this field. The paper concludes with an outline of possible directions for the local information technology industry in relations to education.

Recent advances in the artificial intelligence technology of knowledge-based expert systems have captivated the imaginations of designers, sponsors, and suppliers of computer-based systems in government and industry as well as researchers in university and non-profit laboratories where the technology originated. An expert system is essentially a way to capture the knowledge and expertise of a subject-matter expert and transfer it to a computer program in hopes of creating an “intelligent” computer system that will emulate the problem-solving and decision-making performance of the expert. Such systems are being built to serve as intelligent advisors and decision aids in a wide variety of application areas. We discuss conceptual issues underlying expert system design, with references to current psychological and artificial intelligence literature, and urge Consideration of these issues before undertaking development of expert systems.
