Dynamic directional modulation (DDM) has already proven to be an efficient technique to achieve physical layer security in wireless communications. System architectures based on vector modulators provide a flexible framework to implement synthesis methods that allow us to obtain increased security and/or independent multichannel transmissions. However, the implementation of DDM with vector modulators requires an accurate calibration (amplitude and phase) of every component in the RF path. In this contribution, we study the sensitivity of the response of a DDM system based on commercial vector modulators showing how to correct the nonideal behavior of all the components thanks to the flexibility provided by the vector modulator.

Since its introduction, consumer GPS has made the tracking of critical items in the transportation chain more popular. Shipment of items via rail car is one link in the chain that serves to benefit from GPS technology. This paper discusses a wireless communications system suitable for tracking rail cars. In particular, the power source selection and system testing are described. The system was limited to one device and one power source, a battery. Findings show that the lithium battery selected will power the device for one to three years, depending on transmission activity. Recommended areas of additional research include: battery recharging techniques, effects of connecting sensors to the device, and investigating other communications devices as they become available.

With the development of wireless network technology, wireless communication is widely used in entertainment, business, factory and other fields. But, for those nuclear power plants which are currently in service, wireless technology did not get fully used, some even in unused condition. Actually, wireless communication system can be used to provide wireless connection between computer and mobile/portable devices, and provide access to LAN system; it also can be used to transmit video and data for cameras and sensors; it can realize wireless expansion of MAIN PABX system, so to meet all kinds of Wireless communication requirements in Nuclear Power Station.
