The maritime industry plays a special role in Norway. In recent years, it became subject to increasingly stronger requirements to reduce emissions. However, the most important is that the Norwegian maritime industry in several areas can deliver and further develop technology and products that provide lower emissions, nationally and globally. Going forward, technology development will be more important with time. Thus, it is important to find out what impact it will have on the industry’s sustainable development and estimate the efficiency of new technologies.This paper primarily aims to find a new optimization tool, which allows monitoring progress in the maritime industry towards sustainable development.The present study reveals many new possible zero-emission solutions in the maritime industry, such as battery-electric architectures, ammonia, hydrogen, biofuel, and liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), autonomous ships, etc. Moreover, it was highlighted that without active coordination between governance, academia, and industry, it is impossible to achieve international climate commitments and associated targets for reducing the emissions in the maritime industry.In addition, in this study, a twofold model was proposed: the first part is the calculation of the Sustainable Development Index (SDI), and the last one is mathematical modeling, where the optimization variable carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and Sustainable Development Index (SDI) should be maximized. The investigation results prove that the model should be tested, and further research in this area is needed. Riau Islands is the second highest number of provinces in Indonesia in information and communication technology development index (IP-TIK) based on statistics from the publication of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) issued in March 2017 with a development index value of 6,49. The less knowledge of local resident to manage the beach tourism by social media and editing software are disadvantages in digital age recently. This community service activities is conducted by face-to-face teaching method and technically using desktop and mobile-based application according to the needs of the community to manage the local tourism industry promotion problem. The result of this services to the Setokok Island community who became the group of people who manage the beach tourism is that they now have better understanding how to use social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram to promote managed tourism objects. After this community service activity, they capable to manage account Pulau Setokok in Instagram and Facebook, editing images using Snapseed application and video editing applications using the PowerDirector application.Keywords: internet, social media, mobile application ABSTRAKKepulauan Riau adalah provinsi tertinggi kedua di Indonesia dalam indeks pengembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (IP-TIK) berdasarkan statistik dari publikasi Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) yang diterbitkan pada Maret 2017 dengan nilai indeks pengembangan 6,49. Kurangnya pengetahuan penduduk lokal dalam pengelolaan wisata pantai melalui media sosial dan perangkat lunak pengeditan adalah kerugian di era digital baru-baru ini. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan metode pengajaran tatap muka dan secara teknis menggunakan desktop dan perangkat lunak berbasis mobile sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat untuk mengelola masalah promosi industri pariwisata lokal. Hasil dari layanan ini kepada komunitas Pulau Setokok yang menjadi kelompok orang yang mengelola wisata pantai adalah bahwa mereka sekarang memiliki pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang bagaimana menggunakan aplikasi media sosial seperti Facebook, Instagram untuk mempromosikan objek wisata yang dikelola. Setelah kegiatan layanan komunitas ini mereka mampu mengelola akun pulausetokok di Instagram dan facebook, mengedit gambar menggunakan aplikasi Snapseed dan aplikasi editing video menggunakan aplikasi PowerDirector.Kata Kunci: internet, media social, aplikasi mobile
