A new genus with a new species of soft-winged flower beetle, Pectotibialis paghmanensis Tshernyshev gen. et sp. nov. are described from Afghanistan. The new genus can be distinguished from the congeners of the tribe Apalochrini by the dark pectination in the apices of tibiae in both sexes, and the anterior tibiae which are hollowed at distal half, flattened and rounded femora, bituberculate basal parts of head and pronotum, two lamellate metathoracic appendages, tarsal comb above second tarsomere of anterior legs, and serrate antennae in the male. Based on the metathoracic appendages and comb in anterior legs would attribute this new species to the new genus Dromanthomorphus Pic, 1921, but all the other above-mentioned characters define its independent status and the designation of a new genus; Pectotibialis Tshernyshev gen. nov. The external appearance, special male characters and genitalia of the type species of the new genus are illustrated, and a distribution map is provided. A key to the Apalochrus-section of the tribe Apalochrini is provided.

A new genus, Dilatapalochrus Tshernyshev gen. nov., from East Africa is described in the tribe Apalochrini with Dilatapalochrus vikhrevi Tshernyshev, sp. nov. designated at the type species. Male external appearance and special male characters for the new species are illustrated. Placement of the genus in the tribe Apalochrini is discussed, and a key to genera of the tribe occurring in Africa is provided.

Leafhoppers of the Eupteryx-complex differ from other members of the tribe Typhlocybini in having the posterior branch of hind wing vein R separate from the anterior branch of M (Young 1952). The complex now includes 9 known genera of which 5 genera, Aguriahana Distant 1918, Eurhadina Haupt 1929, Eupteryx Curtis 1833, Caknesia Dworakowska 1994, Almunisna Dworakowska 1969 and Bellpenna Chiang et al 1989, have been reported from China. Here we propose a new genus Comahadina Huang and Zhang which shares the hind wing character with other genera in the complex, based on a new species, Comahadina angelica Huang and Zhang, here designated as the type-species. The new genus and species are described and illustrated and a key to all genera of the Eupteryx-complex is provided.

A new planthopper genus, Mucillnata, is established with a new species, Mucillnata rava sp. nov. as the type species, in the tribe Tropidocephalini, subfamily Delphacinae from southern China. A key to the known genera of the tribe from China is also provided and the differences between the new genus and closely related genera are discussed.

A new species of Urostylididae from the Philippine islands (Mindanao) is herein described. This new species, similar to Urolabida bipunctata Stål, 1871, differs from the latter in the shape of the external male genitalia. Urolabida bipunctata and the new species, Urolabida graziae Roca-Cusachs, sp. nov., are extremely similar in external appearance, and fit into the (incomplete) description of genus Urolabida Westwood, 1837. The examination and comparison with the type specimens of other Urostylididae species, especially the male genital capsule, clearly separates this two species from Urolabida tenera Westwood, 1837, the type species of the genus Urolabida, however the taxonomy of this group is not resolved and needs a deep revision, therefore we refrain from description of a new genus-group taxon here. Additionally, images of the type specimens of Urolabida tenera, Urostylis histrionica Westwood, 1837, and Urostylis punctigera Westwood, 1837, are provided and discussion on the current systematics and classification of the family, and particularly of genus Urolabida are also given.

A new pseudoscorpion genus, Tenebriochernes n. gen., with the type species T. concavus n. sp. is described from two caves in northern Colombia, where it inhabits the dark zone of caves. Two additional new species T. mohani n. sp. and T. pilosus n. sp., are described from conserved dry forest areas and buffer zones. Sexual dimorphism of the pedipalps is evident, particularly in the length of appendages and the width of the hand. The new genus shows affinities with the genus Neoallochernes Hoff, 1947. A taxonomic key, distribution map and ecological comments are given.

A new mealybug genus, Dorsoceraricoccus Dong & Wu gen. nov. (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae), is described to contain Dysmicoccus muajatae Williams as type species, and a new species, Dorsoceraricoccus ningboensis Dong & Wu sp. nov., collected from Zhejiang Province, China on Digitaria sp. (Poaceae). For the new species, the adult female is described and illustrated. In addition, a key to genera of the subfamily Pseudococcinae now known from China and a key to adult female now in Dorsoceraricoccus gen. nov. are provided.

A key to females of species of Pseudozeuxidae is presented. This is the first tanaidacean report from submarine caves around Japan.

A new genus and species, Unguitarsonemus paradoxus n. gen., n. sp. and a new species, Pseudotarsonemoides peruviensis n. sp. (Acari: Trombidiformes: Tarsonemidae), are described based on phoretic females collected on bark beetles Phloeotribus pilula and Ph. biguttatus, respectively, from Peru. A key to species of the genus Pseudotarsonemoides is provided.

A total of 14 species in seven tingid genera have been described from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese (Kachin) amber from northern Myanmar, with very distinct paleofauna. Here, a new species of a new genus, Burmavianaida anomalocapitata gen. et sp. nov., is described from Kachin amber. This new species can be readily distinguished from the other described tingid taxa by the apparently smaller body and the structures of the pronotum and hemelytron. Burmavianaida gen. nov. shares the diagnostic characters with two clades composed of three extant subfamilies (Cantacaderinae + Tinginae) and Vianaidinae and may represent an extinct clade distinct from them. To the best of our knowledge, B. anomalocapitata sp. nov. is the smallest species of Tingidae among over 2600 described species. Our new finding supports the hypothesis of the miniaturization phenomenon of insects in Kachin amber, as suggested by previous studies.

Abstract. A very distinctive new deep-photic coccolithophore is described from the NE Indian Ocean. The new species is trimorphic with: 200–300 body coccoliths bearing low spines attached by narrow stems to a basal narrow-rimmed placolith structure; up to 18 circum-flagellar coccoliths with tall sail-like spines; and up to 22 coccoliths with moderately elevated spines occurring both around the circum-flagellar coccoliths and antapically. These features make the coccolithophore unique and require placement in a new species and genus. The basal structure, however, shows similarities to a recently recognized group of narrow-rimmed placoliths. Hence, the new coccolithophore provides some support for this grouping as a significant addition to our understanding of coccolithophore biodiversity, and potentially an explanation for a set of anomalous molecular genetic results. In addition the new taxon provides further evidence that the deep-photic coccolithophore community is more diverse than has been assumed.
