A new whitefly genus, Rudisculptus gen. nov. is described for its type species Rudisculptus caudalis gen. et sp. nov. feeding on Orophea katschallica Kurz (Annonaceae) from the Andaman Islands, India. Rudisculptus gen. nov. is similar to the New World genus, Aleuropleurocelus Drews & Sampson, 1956 and an Old World genus, Tetralicia Harrison, 1917 in pupal morphology, but differs in having the first abdominal setae, thoracic tracheal pores, caudal furrow, differentiated cephalothorax in slide mounts, the lingula excluded beyond the vasiform orifice. The new genus also differs from an Old World genus, Regiominutus Dubey, 2021 in habitus, pattern of wax secretion, shape, size, cuticle colour, raised lateral margin, extension of segment sutures and the lingula reaching outside the margin of the vasiform orifice, and in having the thoracic tracheal folds. Orophea katschallica is recorded as a new host plant for the whiteflies. Images of puparial habitus and types, line drawings and scanning electron microscope (SEM) microphotographs are provided.

The genus Infundibulomyces is proposed for coelomycetous fungi with nidulariaceous-like conidiomata and bipolar appendaged conidia. Infundibulomyces cupulata sp. nov., collected from fallen leaves of Lagerstroemia sp. from Thailand, is described as the type species of the genus. This fungus is illustrated at the light microscope and scanning electron microscope level and compared with other morphologically related taxa. Cupulate conidiomata are uncommon and Infundibulomyces is compared with these.Key words: anamorphic fungi, coelomycete, Infundibulomyces, Thailand, tropical.

ABSTRACTThe ascaridoid nematodes with more than two uterine branches, which occur in snakes and lizards, are grouped into three genera: (1) Polydelphis (without interlabia, with four uterine branches) containing the type species, P. anoura, occuring in Old World Pythons, with P. brachycheilos as a species dubium. (2) Travassosascaris, a new genus with interlabia and with four uterine branches, with type species T. araujoi (new name for P. quadrangularis (Schneider) of Araujo, 1969) occuring in New World rattlesnakes. (3) Hexametra, (without interlabia, with six uterine branches) containing species in lizards and snakes. In lizards, H. hexametra (type species), H. applanata, H.angusticaecoides and H. rotundicaudata are tentatively differentiated. In snakes, two Hexametra species are tentatively differentiated: (1) H. boddaertii (with three synonyms) in New World pit vipers and colubrids; (2) H. quadricornis (with twenty-two synonyms) in Old World viperids, elapids and colubrids. The morphology, host range, geographical distribution, development and harmful effects of these species are discussed.

This paper presents redescriptions of amphipods in the genus Metopa (Stenothoidae) in the type-collections of the Zoological Museum of Copenhagen. For Metopa clypeata and M. abyssalis we redescribe the type-specimens, for M. glacialis and M. groenlandica the redescriptions are based on new material and checked against the type-specimens. For all except M. abyssalis a combination of new line drawings and scanning electron microscope (SEM) pictures is provided, for M. abyssalis, line drawings only. A summary of the other species having earlier been designed to Metopa in the Copenhagen collections is given, with a list of their present taxonomic position.

A key is provided to five Old World species that comprise the genus Ceratothripoides Bagnall, and the species C. revelatus (Priesner) is recalled from synonymy with C. brunneus Bagnall. Five New World species previously placed in this genus are here allocated to Retanathrips Mound & Nickle gen.n., with Physothrips funestus Hood as type species.

A new whitefly species, Asialeyrodes nicobarica Dubey, sp. nov. found infesting Neolamarckia cadamba (Roxb.) (Rubiaceae) on the Nicobar Island, located in the Indian part of the Sundaland hotspot, is described here. Puparia of the new species differ from all of its congeners in shape, and in having the median tubercles on abdominal segments I–VI, a posteriorly notched vasiform orifice and a broad caudal furrow filled with small linear striations. Asialeyrodes menoni Meganathan and David syn. nov and A. tuberculata Pushpa and Sundararaj syn. nov are synonymised with A. indica Sundararaj and David. Icfrealeyrodes splendens (Meganathan & David) comb. nov. is proposed for Asialeyrodes splendens Meganathan and David. Illustrations include habitus, line drawings, holotype images of the new species and A. tuberculata, and scanning electron microscope photomicrographs. Puparial keys differentiating Asialeyrodes Corbett from allied Indian Aleyrodinae genera and to puparia of species currently included in Asialeyrodes in India are provided. Also, the placement of a non-congeneric species, Rhachisphora spherica Sundararaj and Dubey in Asialeyrodes is discussed.

AbstractThe American species of the genera Bryoporus Kraatz and Bryophacis Reitter are revised for America north of Mexico. Two new related genera are described: Bolitopunctus (type species Bryoporus muricatulus Hatch) and Neobolitobius (type species Lordithon varians Hatch).The following new species are described: Bryoporus niger, Bolitopunctus punctatissimus, Bryophacis arcticus, Bryophacis canadensis, and Bryophacis smetanai. Six new combinations are created: Bolitopunctus muricatulus (Hatch) [from Bryoporus], Neobolitobius varians (Hatch) [from Lordithon], Bryophacis discalis (Hatch) [from Mycetoporus], Bry. punctatissimus (Hatch) [from Mycetoporus], Bry. punctulatus (Hatch) [from Mycetoporus], and Bry. rubescens (Hatch) [from Lordithon].Use of the generic names Bryoporus Kraatz and Bryophacis Reitter is discussed. Lectotypes are designated for Bryoporus rufescens LeConte and its junior synonyms B. rubidus LeConte and B. flavipes LeConte, and Bryoporus testaceus LeConte and its junior synonym B. parvulus Casey.All species of Bryoporus, Bryophacis, Bolitopunctus, and Neobolitobius are described and illustrated with line drawings and scanning electron photomicrographs. Keys are provided to distinguish all genera of North American Bolitobiini and all species of the genera treated in this revision. The New World distribution of each species treated is mapped. The biology of each species, if known, is discussed.

The freshwater diatoms of the French Guiana have received little attention so far. A new diatom genus, Lacuneolimna, based on the species Eolimna zalokariae, is described from a small rainforest stream. Numerous ultrastructural features differ from the genus Eolimna, notably the pluriseriate striae lying between relief-like elevated virgae and depressed externally. In addition, another species new to science, L. novagallia, belonging to this new genus, was discovered in the same place. Detailed light and scanning electron microscope observations are used to characterize the morphology and the ultrastructure of these two new taxa.

The whitefly genus Minutaleyrodes Jesudasan and David is revised based upon the examination of type specimens, and Minutaleyrodes andamanensis sp. nov. on Aporosa octandra (Phyllanthaceae), and Minutaleyrodes whisper sp. nov. on Psychotria andamanica (Rubiaceae) are described from the Little Andaman Island, India. The following taxonomic changes are proposed: Minutaleyrodes tricolorata Pushpa and Sundararaj syn. nov. is synonymized with Dialeurodes turpiniae (Meganathan and David), and Minutaleyrodes cherasensis (Corbett) syn. nov. with Minutaleyrodes minuta (Singh); Aleuroclava kolliensis (David) comb. nov. for Aleurotuberculatus kolliensis David, and Aleuroclava pearlis (Pushpa and Sundararaj) comb. nov. for Minutaleyrodes pearlis Pushpa and Sundararaj. A revised key to puparia of Minutaleyrodes and new host plant records are included. Habitus of the holotype of the new species illustrations, line drawings, microphotographs and scanning electron microscope images of the new and known species are provided.

Renefouqueosis peruviensis gen. et sp. nov., a new tenebrionid genus and species of the tribe Stenosini (subtribe Stenosina) is described from the arid mountains of Northern Peru. Including the new genus Renefouqueosis gen. nov., the tribe Stenosini now includes 40 valid genera of which nine are from the New World. The genera are placed in six subtribes (two worldwide, two New World and two Old World). Type species and subtribal assignment for each genus is presented. Notes on the placement of the genera Anchomma LeConte, 1858 and Fitzsimonsium Koch, 1962 are given. The proper placement of these genera is uncertain. Because of numerous morphological similarities to the Stenosini, we have decided to place these in a key to the world genera of Stenosini, which we provide.
