Abstract Background Virtual reality (VR) enables objective and accurate measurement of behavior in ecologically valid and safe environments, while controlling the delivery of stimuli and maintaining standardized measurement protocols. Despite this potential, studies that compare virtual and real-world performance of complex daily activities are scarce. This study aimed to compare cognitive strategies and gait characteristics of young and older healthy adults as they engaged in a complex task while navigating in a real shopping mall and a high-fidelity virtual replica of the mall. Methods Seventeen older adults (mean (SD) age = 71.2 (5.6) years, 64% males) and 17 young adults (26.7 (3.7) years, 35% males) participated. In two separate sessions they performed the Multiple Errands Test (MET) in a real-world mall or the Virtual MET (VMET) in the virtual environment. The real-world environment was a small shopping area and the virtual environment was created within the CAREN™ (Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment) Integrated Reality System. The performance of the task was assessed using motor and physiological measures (gait parameters and heart rate), MET or VMET time and score, and navigation efficiency (cognitive performance and strategy). Between (age groups) and within (environment) differences were analyzed with ANOVA repeated measures. Results There were no significant age effects for any of the gait parameters but there were significant environment effects such that both age groups walked faster (F(1,32) = 154.96, p < 0.0001) with higher step lengths (F(1,32) = 86.36, p < 0.0001), had lower spatial and temporal gait variability (F(1,32) = 95.71–36.06, p < 0.0001) and lower heart rate (F(1,32) = 13.40, p < 0.01) in the real-world. There were significant age effects for MET/VMET scores (F(1,32) = 19.77, p < 0.0001) and total time (F(1,32) = 11.74, p < 0.05) indicating better performance of the younger group, and a significant environment effect for navigation efficiency (F(1,32) = 7.6, p < 0.01) that was more efficient in the virtual environment. Conclusions This comprehensive, ecological approach in the measurement of performance during tasks reminiscent of complex life situations showed the strengths of using virtual environments in assessing cognitive aspects and limitations of assessing motor aspects of performance. Difficulties by older adults were apparent mainly in the cognitive aspects indicating a need to evaluate them during complex task performance.

So the dinner at Audley Court was postponed, and Miss Alicia had to wait still longer for an introduction to the handsome young widower, Mr George Talboys. I am afraid, if the real truth is to be told, there was, perhaps, something of affectation...

This essay sets out the case for regarding confidential gossip as a significant concept in the study of organizations. It develops the more general concept of gossip by combining it with concepts of organizational secrecy in order to propose confidential gossip as a distinctive communicative practice. As a communicative practice, it is to be understood as playing a particular role within the communicative constitution of organizations. That particularity arises from the special nature of any communication regarded as secret, which includes the fact that such communication is liable to be regarded as containing the ‘real truth’ or ‘insider knowledge’. Thus it may be regarded as more than ‘just gossip’ and also as more significant than formal communication. This role is explored, as well as the methodological and ethical challenges of studying confidential gossip empirically.

Aging is a gracious gift given by God to cause us to ask about and work on the real issues of life. The Bible presents three main themes on aging. Achieving old age is a Divine Tribute. People in the last half of life are to be honored and respected. Growing older brings about Definite Testing along with blessing. Adults in the last third of their lives can glorify God uniquely. New understandings and spiritual depth can be developed. The process of aging well can be a Distinctive Triumph. How we see the issue of ministry with older adults depends largely on our vision of the old. In a culture striving to remain youthful and avoid any evidence of growing old, we would do well to allow our values about aging to be shaped by the age-related themes found in Scripture.

This introductory paper traces a general perspective of the nowadays Chicanx/Latinx stateof the question, including articles, notes, creative poems and drawings, and a tribute inmemoriam Rudolfo A. Anaya (1937-2020). Challenging canons, norms and genres seemsto be particularly appropriate when tackling ideology from the polychromatic gaze oftranscultural minorities in the US. As such, Chicanx/Latinx literary and artistic expressionsact as catalysts of renovation and change, not only in terms of content but also playing withforms in a freer, experimental way. Transgressing what is considered “normal” seems to bethe only way to cope with fringes and frames, and thus a contemporary redefinition of theworld is reached to highlight the “real” truth of artistic normativity.

ABSTRACTIn learning process the teacher is not consequent on time and using appropriate teaching media. This research intends to find out the extend “Effectiveness of Teacher Christian Education Teaching on Improving Affective Value on Students at SMP Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar”. in collecting data, the researcher gave questionnaires for 45 (fourty five) students as sample. This research applied descriptive quantitative method then in analyzing data hypothesis research and correlation of product moment pearson by giving questionnaires for variable X (the effectiveness Teaching of a Christian Education Teacher) and Variable Y (Students’ Affective Value). The research finding showed that Correlation (r) was 0,57 with determination test was 32,49%. To find out whether sifnificant or not the correlation coefficient on the real truth = 0,05 so “t” test was done by the criteria, if thitung which was gained higher (>) than ttabel on significant frequency 1 – 0,05 with dk = n – 2 so the hypothesis was accepted and Ha was rejected. The calculation found that thitung > ttabel ( 3,35 > 1,68 ) so the hypothesis was accepted. It means that there was effect of effectiveness teaching of Christian Education Teacher on Improving Students’ Affective Value at SMP Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar.
