Junior high school and middle school students are a rare breed. They can be utterly charming one minute and yet extremely difficult to reach the next. Their minds seem to be everywhere but in the classroom. The far-off goal of high school graduation is too remote to entice some to hard work, and to others it must seem the impossible dream.

Many career and educational plans are made well before high school graduation. School counselors’ efforts to support these plans are limited by the lack of assessments of middle school students’ college-going beliefs. Development of the College-Going Self-Efficacy Scale for middle school students is described in this article. Initial evidence of validity and reliability from three separate studies is reported, and suggestions for using this scale with students are provided.

Based on the study on cooperative learning in the writing class and the analysis of the results of the mid term and final writing exams of the second year junior students in the Dazhou Middle School, this thesis focuses on the effectiveness of group work i n the development of junior middle school students’ ability of process writing. The research is conducted with the goal to find out more effective ways for teachers to enhance junior high school students’ process writing ability the ability of analyzing and handling learning materials, cooperating with group members, creating new ideas and summarizing the ideas of the group.

This study aims to determine the effect of parents' understanding of education and professionalism of teachers on the reading interest of the Koran of Islamic Al-Kautsar Junior High School Islamic School Pondok Cabe Ilir, South Tangerang. This research is a quantitative study, with a population of all VII and VIII grade students (180 students), and a sample of 124 students. The sampling technique uses a questionnaire / questionnaire. Analysis of the data used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that: 1) There is a positive and significant effect of education on the reading interest of the Koran of Al-Kautsar Islamic Junior High School students at Pondok Cabe Ilir, South Tangerang; 2) There is a positive and significant influence of teacher professionalism on the reading interest of al-Qur'an at Al-Kautsar Islamic Middle School Pondok Cabe Ilir South Tangerang students; 3) There is a positive and significant influence of teacher education and professionalism on the reading interest of al-Qur'an at Islamic Al-Kautsar Middle School Pondok Cabe Ilir, South Tangerang.

English has always been an essential part of junior high school curriculum. Improving students’ reading ability is not only the purpose of learning English for junior middle school students, but also an important means to acquire new knowledge. However, reading as one of the four basic skills required by the English course often keep students from getting high marks in the middle of the exam, although they took lots of time to read. This paper emphasizes the importance of English reading in junior middle school and analyzes the current situations and problems of students’ reading. It introduces the theories of reading and reading comprehension, discourse and discourse analysis, and the relationship between reading and discourse. The author puts forward some measures to improve the reading ability of students. There are many researches on discourse analysis about university, but the research is less involved in the secondary school, and the study of reading comprehension in junior middle school is even rarer. Therefore, the author thinks that it is very necessary to improve the discourse ability of junior high school students.
