After establishment of design requirements and creation of an initial shape, the design process of free form shapes should include interrogation and fairing until a desired shape, with appropriate geometric and performance characteristics, is achieved. Afterwards, the quality of the manufactured product can be determined by comparing measured data with the design model. To permit automated design and manufacturing, mathematical methods and algorithms for the creation, interrogation, fairing, and inspection of curves and surfaces have been developed and integrated into a computer system called Praxiteles. The general layout of Praxiteles, along with a description of design capabilities, is presented. This description covers the areas of input, output, approximation and conversion for data exchange, a summary of some shape creation methods, and a description of some advanced interactive interrogation, fairing, and inspection methods for NURBS curves and surfaces. Examples illustrate some of the features of the system, as applied in the design and inspection of marine propellers. Recommendations for future development of the system are also presented.

Abstract Data exchange between different CAD systems usually requires conversion between different representations of free-form curves and surfaces. Also, trimmed surfaces give rise to high degree boundary curves. Accurate conversion of these forms becomes necessary for reliable data transfer. Also important is the issue of shape control, specially in the aircraft industry. The objective of this paper is to investigate conversion methods and effect of shape control on the design and choice of such methods.

Abstract A method to scale and deform a trimmed NURBS surface while holding the shape and size of specific features (trimming curves) unchanged is presented. The new surface is formed by scaling the given surface according to the scaling requirement first; and then attaching the (original) features to the scaled NURBS surface at appropriate locations. The attaching process requires several geometric operations and constrained free-form surface deformation. The resulting surface has the same features as the original surface and same boundary curves as the scaled surface while reflecting the shape and curvature distribution of the scaled surface. This is achieved by minimizing a shape-preserving objective function which covers all the factors in the deformation process such as bending, stretching and spring effects. The resulting surface maintains a NURBS representation and, hence, is compatible with most of the current data-exchange standards. Test results on several car parts with trimming curves are included. The, quality of the resulting surfaces is examined using the highlight line model.

The fields of Construction Management are so vast these days that it enriched with so many elements contemplate to 7D of BIM (Building Information Modeling). Facility Management holds the 7D position to understand and acquire proper knowledge about the quality and performance of a building structure. The purpose of this paper is to identify research gaps in the field of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the Facility Management (FM) business, as well as practical issues that facility management professionals face while using BIM. The key to successful BIM deployment in the FM business is to improve communication among various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. However, there is still some debate over the value of FM in the construction business. To put it another way, construction does not comprehend FM. There are also concerns about interoperability and data exchange. The Quality of information is connected with PIM and AIM with various IQ perspectives. It is determined that BIM-based FM procedures have the potential to change not just the perspective of the FM sector, but also the perspective of the whole industry, as they are based on a collaborative approach to the delivery of intelligent facilities.

RESUMO:  Cada vez mais, os conceitos de projetos e execução de obras, como manutenção dos sistemas prediais, estão sofrendo modificações tecnológicas que visam o melhor planejamento, execução e desempenho. Os avanços tecnológicos acompanhados por bons profissionais contribuem para a qualidade final do empreendimento. Porém, diante deste cenário, existem falhas na concepção dos edifícios. Observa-se então, a importância do comissionamento como um processo de qualidade que colabora com a integração de projetos multidisciplinares além de avaliar e acompanhar as atividades de operação e manutenção dos sistemas prediais, em conformidade com os requisitos do proprietário e premissas originais de projeto. Diante disto, o objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar a aplicação do processo de comissionamento de sistemas prediais, tomando como estudo de caso, um banheiro sanitário. Com isso, pretende-se contribuir para a utilização do comissionamento nas instalações prediais bem como na manutenção de sistemas e qualidade final dos empreendimentos residenciais. ABSTRACT: Increasingly, the concepts of projects and execution of civil works, such as maintenance of the building systems, are undergoing technological modifications aiming at the best planning, execution and performance. The Technological advances accompanied by good professionals contribute to the final quality of the enterprise. All this to meet the owner's design requirements. However, in face of this scenario, there are flaws in the designing buildings. So it can be observed the importance of design requirements as a process to meet the owners in the phases of  building’s life cycle, besides training professionals in the areas of operation and maintenance. Therefore the aim of  this study is evaluate the application  the commissioning process of building systems , taking as a case study, a bathroom toilet.  With this, it is intended to contribute to the use of commissioning in the building installations as well as in the maintenance of systems and final quality of residential developments.

Lighting is one of the key elements in any space and building infrastructure. Good design for an area in the building requires sufficient light that contributes to the efficiency of the activities. The correct method allows natural light to transmit, reduce heat and glare in providing a conducive learning environment. Light plays a significant influence to the quality of space and contributes focus of the students in an architecture studio. Previous research has shown that the effect of light also controlled emotions, behavior, and mood of the students. The operations of artificial lighting that have been used most of the time in an architecture studio during day and night may create lavishness and inadequacy at the same time. Therefore, this paper focuses on the identifying the quality of light for the architecture studio in UiTM (Perak), to instill a creative learning environment. Several methodologies adopted in this study such as illuminance level measurement using lux meter (LM-8100), and a questionnaire survey in gauging the lighting comfort level from students’ perspective. The study revealed that the illuminance level in the architecture studio is insufficient and not in the acceptable range stated in the Malaysian: Standards 1525:2007 and  not evenly distributed.  The study also concluded that the current studio environment is not condusive and appears monotonous.

Subject. The article reviews the way strategic threats to energy security influence the quality of people's life. Objectives. The study unfolds the theory of analyzing strategic threats to energy security by covering the matter of quality of people's life. Methods. To analyze the way strategic threats to energy security spread across cross-sectoral commodity and production chains and influences quality of people's living, I applied the factor analysis and general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis. Results. I suggest interpreting strategic threats to energy security as risks of people's quality of life due to a reduction in the volume of energy supply. I identified mechanisms reflecting how the fuel and energy complex and its development influence the quality of people's life. The article sets out the method to assess such quality-of-life risks arising from strategic threats to energy security. Conclusions and Relevance. In the current geopolitical situation, strategic threats to energy security cause long-standing adverse consequences for the quality of people's life. If strategic threats to energy security are further construed as risk of quality of people's life, this will facilitate the preparation and performance of a more effective governmental policy on energy, which will subsequently raise the economic well-being of people.

The quality of the software can be measured by its return on investment. Factors which may affect the return on investment (ROI) is the tangible factors (such as the cost) dan intangible factors (such as the impact of software to the users or stakeholder). The factor of the software itself are assessed through reviewing, testing, process audit, and performance of software. This paper discusses the consideration of return on investment (ROI) assessment criteria derived from the software and its users. These criteria indicate that the approach may support a rational consideration of all relevant criteria when evaluating software, and shows examples of actual return on investment models. Conducted an analysis of the assessment criteria that affect the return on investment if these criteria have a disproportionate effort that resulted in a return on investment of a software decreased. Backgrounds: In order to guarantee safe and efficient operation interaction in open network environment, a new dynamic trust monitoring and updating model based on behavior context is proposed in this paper. Methods: Setting four behavior attributes such as security, availability, reliability and performance. Then utilizing the fuzzy clustering and information entropy mathematical methods to carry out the effective synthesis on such attributes. Conclusion: The effectiveness and efficiency of the schema are verified by simulation.

On the basis of automatic test system of the status in domestic and foreign, by analysis of the various functions and performance of the integrated test system, a design of the integrated test system is proposed, FPGA as the core logic controller of the hardware circuit. The system of the hardware design include: digital signal source output modules, analog output module and PCM codec module. Design of hardware circuit are mainly described. In addition, a detailed analysis of some key technologies in the design process was given. Overall, its data exchange with host computer is through the PCI card, data link and bandwidth can be expanded in accordance with the actual needs. The entire system designed in the modular principle, which has a strong scalability.

AbstractSubdivision schemes (SSs) have been the heart of computer-aided geometric design almost from its origin, and several unifications of SSs have been established. SSs are commonly used in computer graphics, and several ways were discovered to connect smooth curves/surfaces generated by SSs to applied geometry. To construct the link between nonstationary SSs and applied geometry, in this paper, we unify the interpolating nonstationary subdivision scheme (INSS) with a tension control parameter, which is considered as a generalization of 4-point binary nonstationary SSs. The proposed scheme produces a limit surface having $C^{1}$ C 1 smoothness. It generates circular images, spirals, or parts of conics, which are important requirements for practical applications in computer graphics and geometric modeling. We also establish the rules for arbitrary topology for extraordinary vertices (valence ≥3). The well-known subdivision Kobbelt scheme (Kobbelt in Comput. Graph. Forum 15(3):409–420, 1996) is a particular case. We can visualize the performance of the unified scheme by taking different values of the tension parameter. It provides an exact reproduction of parametric surfaces and is used in the processing of free-form surfaces in engineering.
