A new record of Plectropomus pessuliferus (Serranidae: Epinephelinae) wasdocumented based on morphological characters and DNA barcoding. The species was collectedduring a regular survey for making an inventory of reef associated fishes in Saint Martin`sIsland, Bangladesh. This is the first report of roving coral grouper from the marine waters ofBangladesh validated by morpho-meristic analysis and DNA barcoding. This is also the firstreport from the northern Bay of Bengal.

The genera Abaria Mosely 1948 and Drepanocentron Schmid 1982 are recorded in China for the first time. In this study, two new species, Abaria herringbona sp. nov., from Guang-xi, and Drepanocentron fuxiensis sp. nov., from An-hui, are described and illustrated. Male genitalia of these two new species is distinguishable from those of other Abaria and Drepanocentron species. In addition, Melanotrichia attia Malicky & Chantaramongkol 1992 is a new record for the Chinese caddisfly fauna.

Panstrongylus geniculatus (Latreille, 1811) is the most widely distributed species in Brazil. This study presents the first report of this species collected inside a building in the “Centro de Estudos Ambientais e Desenvolvimento Sustentável”, at the Vila Dois Rios, Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The new record is important to understand the risk of Chagas disease transmission, mainly because this species is commonly found infected with Trypanosoma cruzi (Chagas, 1909).

We report the occurrence of Mesopotamian tooth carp, Aphanius mesopotamicus Coad 2009, in a southern branch of the Karkheh River, 10 km west of Hoor-Al-Azim Wetland. This is the first report of successful collection of this species after its first collection in 1978-80 and futile efforts during the last three decades and after its original description based on those old museum specimens.

Abstract Two echinoderm assemblages are described in the Middle Ordovician of Iran (Darriwilian). The Simeh Kuh section (Damghan area, eastern Alborz range) has yielded a rich and diverse blastozoan fauna consisting of fistuliporite (Echinosphaerites, Heliocrinites) and dichoporite rhombiferans (cheirocrinids indet., hemicosmitids indet.), as well as aristocystitid (Sinocystis) and sphaeronitid diploporites (Glyptosphaerites, Tholocystis). Heliocrinites, cheirocrinids, hemicosmitids, Glyptosphaerites, and Tholocystis are reported for the first time in the Ordovician of Iran. A less diverse assemblage was collected in the Shirgesht section (Tabas area, Derenjal Mountains), and represents the first report of Ordovician echinoderms in east-central Iran. The Shirgesht fauna includes fistuliporite rhombiferans (Heliocrinites), aristocystitid and sphaeronitid diploporites. The new Iranian material documents some of the earliest known assemblages of diploporites and rhombiferans, and thus, brings important information on the radiation of these two major blastozoan classes. The two Iranian echinoderm faunas show relatively strong affinities with contemporary faunas from Baltica, the northern Gondwanan margin (e.g. Bohemia, Morocco), Sibumasu, and South China terranes. Aristocystitids suggest stronger links between Iran, and regions from the “Province à Amphorides” (northern Gondwanan margin, Sibumasu, South China). These observations support a palaeogeographical position of Iran at intermediate palaeolatitudes during the early Middle Ordovician, in the periphery of the northeastern Gondwanan margin.

During August and November, 2013, leaves of Euphorbia hirta L. were found with a rust disease in Taxco and Morelia cities in Guerrero and Michoacán states, respectively. The pustules of rust were orange - yellow to dark brown in color and were observed on lower and upper side of leaves. Necrotic red-purple or dark brown spots were also observed upper surface of leaves with pustules on the lower surface. On the basis of morphological characteristics, the rust species was identified as Uromyces euphorbiae. This is the new record of U. euphorbiae on E. hirta in Guerrero and Michoacán states in Mexico. Six species have been described in the genus Sphaerotarsus, five from Australia and one from Iran. Only three of them have been described from larvae. The knowledge of this small group is very limited, and here we describe and illustrate the larvae of Sphaerotarsus baenai sp. nov. collected from soil in two provinces of Andalusia, Spain. This is the fourth larval species described in the genus, and the first report of Sphaerotarsus for the European fauna. A key to the species of Sphaerotarsus larvae is provided.
