Herein, a new species of the genus Trichoglossum is described. The new species named as T. jejuense was collected from Jeju Island in Korea. It is distinguished from other Trichoglossum species by thick, 8-spored asci and 15–16 septate ascospores. Phylogenetic analyses of the internal transcribed spacer of ribosomal RNA and morphological characteristics suggest that T. jejuense is a distinct species.

A new species of crane fly (Diptera, Limoniidae), Elephantomyia (Elephantomyia) hallasana Podenas & Podeniene, sp. nov., from Jeju Island, South Korea is described. Adult and larval characters are illustrated. Elephantomyia (E.) hallasanasp. nov. is the only species of the genus Elephantomyia Osten Sacken, 1860 recorded from Jeju Island, South Korea. Habitat, elevation range, and seasonality data are presented. Distributional notes on E. subterminalis Alexander, 1954 in the Far East of Russia (Khabarovskiy and Primorskiy regions) are discussed. An identification key for all Eastern Palaearctic species of subgenus E. (Elephantomyia) is presented.

A new species, Peucedanum chujaense K. Kim, S.-H. Oh, C.-S. Kim & C.-W. Park (Apiaceae), is described and illustrated. The new species distributed in the Chuja Islands off the north coast of Jeju Island in South Korea. It is morphologically similar to P. litorale, but is distinct from the latter in having 2-pinnate leaves (vs. 1-pinnate leaves), conspicuous calyx teeth 0.4–1 mm long (vs. minute calyx teeth 0.1–0.3 mm long), 20–24 (vs. 10–18) flowers per umbellet, seeds oblong (vs. semicircular) in cross section.

A new species of the genus Mesacanthion Filipjev, 1927 was discovered during a survey of natural beaches of Jeju Island in South Korea. The new species Mesacanthion jejuensis sp. nov. shares general morphology of the genus such as the outer labial and cephalic setae being situated at the middle of cephalic capsule, well-developed mandibles with two columns united by a curved bar, and three equally sized and shaped teeth shorter than the mandibles. The new species belongs to a group of Mesacanthion species in which spicules are shorter than two anal body diameters. The new species is most closely related to M. pannosum, first discovered in Puget Sound, Washington, in terms of having enlarged cervical setae flap at the end of cephalic capsule, spicules which are shorter than 2 anal body diameter, both supplementary organ and gubernaculum. It can be distinguished from M. pannosum by its stronger inner labial setae, longer outer labial setae, and difference in the index value of b and c’. Along with the description of Mesacanthion jejuensis sp. nov., the genus Mesacanthion Filipjev, 1927 is bibliographically reviewed and revised. Including the new species, a total of 48 species are described within the genus; 39 which are valid; eight which are considered to be species inquirenda due to misplacement of genus and poor description; one which is considered nomen nudum. An updated diagnosis of the genus is provided along with a compiled tabular key comparing different diagnostic morphological characters of all valid species, as well as a pictorial key consisting of 21 species with spicules shorter than two anal body diameters.

A new species of Amanita sect. Roanokenses, A. brunneofolia, from South Korea, is described based on morphological and molecular evidences. The species is characterized by medium- to large-sized basidiomata, a greenish white pileus covered with brownish, floccose pyramidal volval remnants, an appendiculate margin, reddish brown lamellae, a long radicating stipe, and ellipsoid to elongate amyloid basidiospores. Based on both nrLSU and combined dataset (nrLSU, rpb2 and tef1-α), A. brunneofolia formed a monophyletic clade and clearly separated from other Amanita species. In addition, we describe two other Amanita species in A. sect. Roanokenses, namely, A. caojizong and A. sphaerobulbosa. This is the first report of these species for South Korea.
