Education is an essential tool for human, economical, societal and technological development. When education is properly utilized and financed, learning outcomes with higher quality are achieved. Under-funding is the critical challenge facing the Nigerian higher education (NHE) system. There is considerable increase in the demand for NHE and government could no longer adequately finance it because of this increasing-demand. This paper attempts to assess the impact of international organization in NHE system. Among the key important international organizations operating in Nigerian Education (NE) are the World Bank, IMF, EU, UNICEF, UNESCO and many NGOs operating from both in and out of the country. The paper concludes by recommending that adequate consecration should be given to higher education since basic education and secondary level have so far benefitted more from the World Bank. It is also recommended that all other international organizations and other sectors should focus on impacting NHE if truly high quality education is desired for Nigerian university students.

The purpose of this paper is to bring to reflection the main influences of globalization in Brazilian higher education has occurred in the last two decades. A critical analysis of the relevant literature was made, addressing the main international organizations such as the World Bank (WB) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), as well as its main guidelines for the education. Among the aspects analyzed, it is possible to verify a convergence of the guidelines of these organizations about the importance of Higher Education for economic development and the need to link the use of public resources to quality.

Given that there appears to be a dichotomy within the BRICS, we focus on Russia and China, discussing recent developments in their respective Higher Educational systems, and what these changes might mean in terms of internationalization. Moreover, given that the importance of Higher Education for a balanced development is something that is now widely recognised by International Organizations, such as the World Bank and UNESCO, as well as by governments, we enquire if past and current changes in Russian and Chinese Higher Educational systems have encouraged balanced development in those countries.  ***A internacionalização do Educação Superior: algumas reflexões sobre a Rússia e China***Dado que parece haver uma dicotomia entre os países que compoe os BRICS, nos concentramos na Rússia e na China, discutindo os desenvolvimentos recentes em seus respectivos sistemas de Educação Superior e o que essas mudanças podem significar em termos de internacionalização. Education has been considered as an indispensable asset of every individual, community and nation today. Indias higher education system is the third largest in the world, after China and the United States (World Bank). Tamil Nadu occupies the first place in terms of possession of higher educational institutions in the private sector in the country with over 46 percent(27) universities, 94 percent(464) professional colleges and 65 percent(383) arts and science colleges(2011). Studies to understand the profile of the entrepreneurs providing higher education either in India or Tamil Nadu were hardly available. This paper attempts to map the demographic profile of the entrepreneurs providing higher education in Arts and Science colleges in Tamil Nadu through an empirical analysis, carried out among 25 entrepreneurs spread across the state. This paper presents a summary of major inferences of the analysis.

Are international organizations autonomous actors in global politics? This paper investigates whether and how major powers influence the World Bank’s official development assistance policies. Despite the World Bank’s attempts to maintain independence from its member states, we argue that major powers are still influential. Testing this expectation with the data of official development assistance provisions between 1981 and 2017, we find that the World Bank provides a higher amount of official development assistance to the recipient countries that receive a higher amount of such assistance from the major powers such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan. In addition, the World Bank is prone to provide a higher amount of official development assistance to the recipients that have a similar preference to the major powers. This study sheds light on the relations between major powers and international organizations.

Various human rights are widely recognized in codified and customary international law. These human rights promise all human beings protection against specific severe harms that might be inflicted on them domestically or by foreigners. Yet international law also establishes and maintains institutional structures that greatly contribute to violations of these human rights: fundamental components of international law systematically obstruct the aspirations of poor populations for democratic self-government, civil rights, and minimal economic sufficiency. And central international organizations, such as the WTO, the IMF, and the World Bank, are designed so that they systematically contribute to the persistence of severe poverty.
