Women are a vital part of the Indian economy and employment to build their empowerment by the provision of loans and financial services is an important aspect of any economy. Rural women of India have been benefited by the Self Help Groups (SHG). The SHG can approach any bank for availing loan facility to undertake any suitable earning activity. The loan is repaid out of the profits earned. A study was carried out for the year 2016-2017 for Amravati division, 50 SHGs, which were engaged in selected agriculture, poultry-based activity. The objectives for the study were to analyze the technical efficient self-help groups and identify the possible determinant of technical efficiency of self-help groups; Primary data was collected with the help of personal interview of self-help groups. Those Self-help groups were selected for the study which has activity in existence of at least 10 years, In poultry SHGs the elasticity of a cost per borrower and subsidy variables were a positively significant contribution in the gross loan. Negative Marginal value productivity of assets, Loan per member and net returns are determined to know the contribution in the gross loan Among selected SHGs, the variations in technical efficiency was 0.7632-0.9966. The study concludes that it is necessary to increase the assets and borrow per member for SHGs income generating activities which will be the make the  SHGs members to increase the net income to refund, therefore assets, borrow per member and net returns are the possible determinant of the gross loan portfolio.  The amount needs to be fixed according to the income generating activities and borrow per member increases contribute more to their family income.

In India, the majority of the people live in a rural area and are engaged in agriculture, earning a subsistence wage. Women are a vital part of the Indian economy and employment to build their empowerment. Provision of loans and financial services to the poor is an important aspect of the development agenda of any economy. To ascertain the technical efficient self-help groups and identify the possible determinants of technical efficiency of dairy self-help groups. This study was undertaken in rural areas of Amravati division and for this study Selected those self-help groups which were engaged in agriculture-based activity dairy. To analyse the objectives of the study to ascertain the technical efficient self-help groups and identify the possible determinant of technical efficiency of dairy self-help groups, the primary data was collected with the help of Personal interview of self-help groups. The marginal value of productivity of assets determined to decrease the use of assets and scope to be increasing this variable. The variable asset executed negative significant contribution in determining the gross loan its indicates declining assets affects to the loan refund and hence its indicated limited the size of SHGs, in views of this it is necessary to increase the assets which will make the SHGs to increase their activities production which helps in increase gross returns to refund possible therefore assets is the possible determinant of gross loan portfolio. The average technical efficiency for the entire sample of dairy SHGs was 0.9771, allocative efficiency was 0.5843 and 0.5671 dairy SHGs economic efficiency. The variables such as Cost per borrower, Assets, Borrow per member, Net return and Subsidy contributes to the explanation of the variation in Economic Efficiency of the dairy SHGs.

Self Help Groups have emerged as an important mechanism to bring about socio-economic change in society. Various studies indicate the positive impact that SHGs have had on employment generation, savings, incomes, poverty alleviation and women empowerment. The present study, based on primary data sourced from women members of SHGs located in the state of Goa is an attempt to understand the impact of group membership on its members, particularly women. An attempt has also been made to throw light on the pivotal role that the Self Help Group Promoting Agencies essay in realising the goal of women empowerment. The study also analyses the independence that women exhibit in taking decisions, be it in the economic or political domain.

A Self-Help Group (SHG) is a registered or unregistered group of people having homogenous socio-economic background, voluntarily coming together to save small amounts regularly, mutually agree for the contribution of a common fund and to meet their emergency needs. It aims engaging rural women with new activities to increase their income, development of better networks and linkages and improved the existing conditions of the SHGs members. The study was conducted to analyse the income generating activities being taken up and the level of empowerment of SHG members.. Result pertaining to income generating activities indicated that majority of the respondents were involved with small micro enterprises. The need to develop SHGs and motivate rural women to systematically manage and choose their activities in order to generate income can be advocated. Certain essential activities like choosing the more appropriate activity, market intelligence, establishing marketing linkages etc. are an indication of the capability of the groups as SHGs becoming a tool for social empowerment.

Self Help Groups (SHGs) are meant to empower women both socially and economically. They encourage women to participate in decision making in the household, community and local domestic sector and prepare rural women to take up leadership positions. This study examines the pre-SHG and post-SHG status of rural SHG members in Puri district of Odisha. On the basis of primary data analysis, the study finds that SHGs have not only produced tangible assets and improved the living conditions of the members, but has also helped in changing much of their social outlook and attitudes. In the study area, SHGs have served the cause of women empowerment, social solidarity and socio-economic betterment of the rural poor.

Nowadays Self-Help Group or SHG plays a vital role not only in social transformation and upliftment of rural women but also in social-economic betterment of them. The main objective of this paper is to examine the impact assessment in the socio-economic status of rural women through Self Help Groups with the help of a micro-level study of two C. D. blocks namely Dhaniakhali and Polba-Dadpur in Hooghly district. 40572 SHGs are consisting of 394897 members in 18 C. D. blocks of Hooghly district. Among the blocks, Daniakhali and Polba-Dadpur were selected for the study, of which 28 groups are chosen randomly. From these selected groups 108 members have been selected to conduct the primary survey. Personal interviews were conducted to find out the major purposes of the study i.e. to examine the role of SHG in developing the socio-economic status of rural women and to analyse the impact of SHGs in decision making. The study is mainly based on primary data and simple per cent calculation is used for analysing the data. The major analytical tool employed for the study is tabular analysis to facilitate easy interpretation. Map of the study area is prepared through ArcGIS 10.5 software. The present study explains a detailed socio-economic profile of the SHG members in the study area.

Microfinance is the provision of financial services to the rural and underprivileged sections of the society to engage in income-generating activities for their own growth and progress. This paper examines the income generating activities of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for empowerment of women. It also analyses the saving preferences of SHG members and examines the financial literacy of these members after joining the SHGs. The analysis reveals that the different types of income generating activities started by SHG members include embroidery work, dairy, flower and bangle making, jute work, stitching work, vegetable cultivation and own shop. Among these, ‘own shop’ is the most prominent income generating activity followed by ‘stitching work’. In terms of saving preference, ‘own business development’ is their first saving preference for sustainable livelihood; ‘education of children’ is their saving preference for future of their children and ‘repairing of house’ is their saving preference for immediate expenditure. The analysis in terms of financial literacy reveals that financial literacy of SHG members regarding ration card, voter card, bank account and their phone number has increased after joining of SHGs.
