In this study, we proposed a new generalised transmuted inverse exponential distribution with three parameters and have transmuted inverse exponential and inverse exponential distributions as sub models. The hazard function of the distribution is nonmonotonic, unimodal and inverted bathtub shaped making it suitable for modelling lifetime data. We derived the moment, moment generating function, quantile function, maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters, Renyi entropy and order statistics of the distribution. A real life data set is used to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed model.

In this article we have discussed linear mixing of two exponentiated distribution. The proposed model is named as exponentiated exponential-exponentiated Weibull (EE-EW) distribution. The proposed distribution generalize several existing distributions. We study several characteristics of the proposed distribution including moment, moment generating function, reliability and hazard rate functions. An empirical study is presented for mean, variance, coefficient of skewness, and coefficient of kurtosis. The method of maximum likelihood is used for the estimation of parameters. For the illustration purpose, we have use two real-life data set for application. The results justify the capability of the new model.

This paper is devoted to study a new four- parameter additive model. The newly suggested model is referred to as the flexible Weibull extension-Burr XII distribution. It is derived by considering a serial system with one component following a flexible Weibull extension distribution and another following a Burr XII distribution. The usefulness of the model stems from the flexibility of its failure rate which accommodates bathtub and modified bathtub among other risk patterns. These two patterns have been widely accepted in several fields, especially reliability and engineering fields. In addition, the importance of the new distribution is that it includes new sub-models which are not known in the literature. Some statistical properties of the proposed distribution such as quantile function, the mode, the rth moment, the moment generating function and the order statistics are discussed. Moreover, the method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate the parameters of the model. Also, to evaluate the performance of the estimators, a simulation study is carried out. Finally, the performance of the proposed distribution is compared through a real data set to some well-known distributions including the new modified Weibull, the additive Burr and the additive Weibull distributions. It is shown that the proposed model provides the best fit for the used real data set.

We study a new distribution called the Marshall-Olkin Power Lomax distribution. A comprehensive account of its mathematical properties including explicit expressions for the ordinary moments, moment generating function, order statistics, Renyi entropy, and probability weighted moments are derived. The model parameters are estimated by the method of maximum likelihood. Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to estimate the parameters and the performance of the estimates is judged via the average biases and mean squared error values. The usefulness of the proposed model is illustrated via real-life data set.

Performance of a product not as expected by the customer brings warranty expenditure into the picture. In other words, the deviation of the product performance (PP) from the customer expectation (CE) is the reason for customer complaints and warranty expenses. When this conflicting scenario occurs in market, warranty comes into existence and fulfilling warranty claims of customers adds to product's overall cost. In this paper, based on the difference between PP and CE about the product we estimate profit for the firm. Furthermore, factors like fixed cost, production cost and inventory cost have also been considered in framing the optimization problem. In the proposed model, a two-dimensional innovation diffusion model (TD-IDM) which combines the adoption time of technological diffusion and price of the product has been used. Classical Cobb–Douglas function that takes into account the technological adoptions and other dimensions explicitly has been used to structure the production function. The proposed model has been validated on real life data set.

Abstract In this article, an extension of exponentiated exponential distribution is familiarized by adding an extra parameter to the parent distribution using alpha power technique. The new distribution obtained is referred to as Alpha Power Exponentiated Exponential Distribution. Various statistical properties of the proposed distribution like mean, variance, central and non-central moments, reliability functions and entropies have been derived. Two real life data sets have been applied to check the flexibility of the proposed model. The new density model introduced provides the better fit when compared with other related statistical models.

In this paper we introduced Gompertz Gumbel II (GG II) distribution which generalizes the Gumbel II distribution. The new distribution is a flexible exponential type distribution which can be used in modeling real life data with varying degree of asymmetry. Unlike the Gumbel II distribution which exhibits a monotone decreasing failure rate, the new distribution is useful for modeling unimodal (Bathtub-shaped) failure rates which sometimes characterised the real life data. Structural properties of the new distribution namely, density function, hazard function, moments, quantile function, moment generating function, orders statistics, Stochastic Ordering, Renyi entropy were obtained. For the main formulas related to our model, we present numerical studies that illustrate the practicality of computational implementation using statistical software. We also present a Monte Carlo simulation study to evaluate the performance of the maximum likelihood estimators for the GGTT model. Three life data sets were used for applications in order to illustrate the flexibility of the new model.

We propose a new distribution called the extended generalized inverse exponential distribution with four positive parameters, which extends the generalized inverse exponential distribution. We derive some mathematical properties of the proposed model including explicit expressions for the quantile function, moments, generating function, survival, hazard rate, reversed hazard rate and odd functions. The method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate the parameters of the distribution. We illustrate its potentiality with applications to two real data sets which show that the extended generalized inverse exponential model provides a better fit than other models considered.

In applied work, the two-parameter exponential distribution gives useful representations of many physical situations. Confidence interval for the scale parameter and predictive interval for a future independent observation have been studied by many, including Petropoulos (2011) and Lawless (1977), respectively. However, interval estimates for the threshold parameter have not been widely examined in statistical literature. The aim of this paper is to, first, obtain the exact significance function of the scale parameter by renormalizing thep∗-formula. Then the approximate Studentization method is applied to obtain the significance function of the threshold parameter. Finally, a predictive density function of the two-parameter exponential distribution is derived. A real-life data set is used to show the implementation of the method. Simulation studies are then carried out to illustrate the accuracy of the proposed methods.

Many Statisticians have developed and proposed new distributions by extending the existing distributions. The distributions are extended by adding one or more parameters to the baseline distributions to make it more flexible in fitting different kinds of data. In this study, a new four-parameter lifetime distribution called the Topp Leone Kumaraswamy Lomax distribution was introduced by using a family of distributions which has been proposed in the literature. Some mathematical properties of the distribution such as the moments, moment generating function, quantile function, survival, hazard, reversed hazard and odds functions were presented. The estimation of the parameters by maximum likelihood method was discussed. Three real life data sets representing the failure times of the air conditioning system of an air plane, the remission times (in months) of a random sample of one hundred and twenty-eight (128) bladder cancer patients and Alumina (Al2O3) data were used to show the fit and flexibility of the new distribution over some lifetime distributions in literature. The results showed that the new distribution fits better in the three datasets considered.
