Black dandelion is widely grown in the Black Sea region, consumption as food is quite high. There are many trace elements important in terms of nutritional value. Goitre disease, which is common in this region, is caused by iodide deficiency. Fluoride is of great importance for the health of the teeth. Therefore, in our study, we wanted to measure the iodide and fluoride found in the most consumed dandelions in this region with iodide and fluoride selective electrodes. The black cabbage samples were dried to constant weighing. It was made soluble by wet burning method. Iodide and fluoride ions were determined by dilution. Our electrode consisting of ion exchange, PVC and plasticizer has a sensitivity of 59 mV to 10-5 - 10-1 M iodide. Our electrode, which is composed of calcium fluoride and less soluble silver salts, shows a sensitivity of 28 mV to 10-5 - 10-1 M fluoride. Iodide and fluoride measurements can be made with our electrodes which are not sensitive to any other anion and cation.

Polyporus squamosus (Huds.) Fr., also named as Aladana, Peri Semeri, Pullu Mantar in varying by localities of Turkey, is an edible wild mushroom species widely existed in the mycobiota of the Black Sea Region. It has not been sold in the local markets. The public recognition of this mushroom may change locally in the Black Sea Region. It is widely consumed by the people in some parts of the region. It is usually appeared in the nature during May-September on the logs, dead and living trunks of the deciduous trees. Following the rainy period, it grows so fast and can produce a few kilograms fruit body within a short period. It is delicious and precious as much as meat for the nutritional value, especially during early growth stage. In this review, general knowledge on the morphological and ecological characteristics, nutritional value and medicinal properties of P. squamosus mushroom and some study results on the domestication of this mushroom have been presented in order to improve the public awareness and its consumption.

According to the results of the study of soils in the Northwest of the Black Sea region, it is determined that here, in the profile of vorony-calcic and calcic Chernozems, both residual and weak alkalinity are manifested. It was found out, nowadays, in the national soil science, there are no clear criteria for the selection of sodic soils and for the determination of their alkalinity degree. Furthermore, there is also the question of the differentiation of the actually sodic and residual-sodic soils. It has been established that on the territory of the Northwest of the Black Sea region polygenetic soils – vorony-calcic and calcic Chernozems weakly and residual-sodic were formed and the diagnostics of their classification and taxonomic position for the moment is rather ambiguous. The diagnostic of the alkalinity degree of vorony-calcic and calcic Chernozems in the Northwest of the Black Sea region was carried out in four methodological approaches. It was established, that it is impossible to carry out precise and unambiguous diagnostics of the alkalinity degree of soils of the territory of the study according to existing methods. Thus, the sodic and residual-sodic soils, according to classification of 1977, are almost entirely positioned as weakly sodic in accordance with the “Field determinant of soils”. In turn, taking into account the Novikova approach, the status of these same soils varies from non-sodic to solonetzes according to the degree of illuviation, the final diagnosis of which, however, contradicts the low content of exchangeable sodium. An integral approach to the determination of the alkalinity degree of soils is proposed, which is based on the chronological features of the course and direction of the sodification process. According to this approach, if the alkalinity of the studied soils is relict, its degree should be diagnosed by the illuviation of silt and by the content of exchange Na+ (Ni> 8 %, Na+<3 % – residual-sodic soils, Ni> 8 %, Na+ ≥ 3 % –sodic soils).In turn, in the case of the modern alkalinity, its degree should be determined by the ratio Ca2+/Mg2+ (<4,8) and by the content of the exchangeable Na+ (<3 % – residual-sodic soils, and ≥3 % – sodic soils). The Black Sea region of Turkey receives an annual rainfall of 2000-2500 mm and viticulture in the region depends on the rainfall limits significantly. In this study, the resistance of eighty different Vitis species and cultivars/genotypes to downy and powdery mildew was assessed using Marker Assisted Selection coupled with inoculation observations. Six Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR) and one Sequence Characterized Amplified Region (SCAR) markers were developed for different resistance loci (Run1, Rpv1, Ren1, Rpv3, Ren3) from different Vitis genetic resources. Eight of the cultivars/genotypes were characterised as resistant to downy mildew, seven were resistant to powdery mildew, and four were resistant to both diseases. These results, taken together with the disease inoculation observations, revealed ‘Köfteci Üzümü’ (Vitis labrusca) and ‘Giresun 3’ (Vitis labrusca) were the most resistant cultivars/genotypes.
