Production and productivity of green gram is governed by environmental, genotypic trait of the crop and crop management. The more specific reason for low production and productivity of pulses is the cultivation of local old varieties under marginally fertile lands and low input management conditions. Recently, high yielding varieties of green gram have been developed and evaluation of these varieties under various management conditions will be of great importance. In this view the study was conducted to investigate the growth and yield response of different green gram varieties in Kitui and Makueni counties in Kenya. Three green gram varieties (KS20, KAT 00308 and KAT 00309) were laid out in a randomized complete block design and replicated three times. The varieties differed significantly (P≤0.05) in plant height, number of effective nodules, 100-grain mass and grain yield in both sites. Variety KS20 was the tallest in both sites in all the stages while KAT00309 was the shortest. Variety (KS20) had the highest number of effective nodules in Ithookwe (11) and Kiboko (39) with the lowest were recorded for variety KAT00308. Days to 50% flowering and maturity were different between the varieties, and KS20 had the shortest where it was recorded that the periods were shorter in Kiboko by >15 days compared to Ithookwe. In both sites, the highest grain yield was recorded for KAT00309 with 2898 kg/ha and 1568 kg/ha in Kiboko and Ithookwe, respectively. There were no signficant differences on the biological yield between the varieties but the 100-grain mass differed signficantly in both sites where variety KAT00309 was the heaviest with 7.8 g and 6.9 g in Kiboko and Ithookwe, respectively. It was concluded that variety KAT00309 could lead to the highest grain yield in both Kitui and Makueni counties under water stress conditions of the two counties.

The experiment was carried out during the period from January to May, 2018 at Professor Purnendu Gain Field Laboratory of Agrotechnology Discipline, Khulna University to evaluate the effect of phosphorous (P) on yield and yield attributes of BRRI dhan28. The experiment was consisted of seven P doses viz. T0 = without phosphorus (P), T1 = 9 kg P ha-1, T2 = 12 kg P ha-1, T3 = 15 kg P ha-1, T4 = 18 kg P ha-1, T5 = 21 kg P ha-1 and T6 = 24 kg P ha-1 as treatments. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Only the grain yield and biological yield showed significant variations due to the effect of different rates of phosphorous. Others growth and yield attributes varied insignificantly. The result of this experiment showed that the highest grain yield (3.82 t ha-1) and biological yield (10.87 t ha-1) was obtained from 21 kg P ha-1 (T5). There was an increasing trend of grain yield with the increase of phosphorous level up to 21 kg P ha-1 and then it declined. From the result of this experiment it could be revealed that 21 kg P ha-1 gives better result regarding grain yield of HYV rice variety BRRI dhan28 at Batiaghta upazila of southwestern Bangladesh. An experiment was conducted in the field laboratory of the Department of Crop Botany, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, to investigate the effect of foliar application of Miyodo on morphology, yield contributing characters and yield of T. aman rice cv. BR-11. The concentrations of Miyodo used were 2 mgL-1, 3 mgL-1, 4 mgL-1 and 5mgL-1 with a control. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Application of Miyodo by spraying at 45 days after transplanting significantly enhanced plant height, number of tillers and effective tillers, number of leaves and leaf area, size of flag leaf, total dry matter, panicle length, number of total grains and filled grains, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, straw yield, and harvest index. The result showed that the application of 5 mgL-1 Miyodo produced the highest grain yield of BR-11 compared to other concentrations as well as control. However, further study is needed to determine the higher concentration limit of Miyodo in maximizing the growth and yield of T. aman rice cv. An experiment was conducted to study the effect of micronutrients on the growth and yield performance of chickpea. The experiment was consisted using two factors- variety and treatments. Two local cultivars viz. BARI Chola-5 and BARI Chola-9 and five treatments e.g. T0 = control, T1 = 2 kg B/ha, T2 = 2 kg Mo/ha, T3= seed priming with Mo (1g/l water), T4 = foliar spray of B (0.5 g/l water) + seed priming with Mo (1g/l water), and T5 = 2 kg B/ha + seed priming with Mo (1g/l water) were considered for this study. A randomized complete block design (RCBD) was adopted with three replications. Significant variation was observed between the varieties and here the BARI Chola-9 produced the higher seed yield (2.47 ton/ ha). Treatment showed significant effect on the yield attributes and yield of chickpea. The highest plant height, number of branches/ plant, number of pods/ plant, nodule/ plant, number of effective pod/ plant, length of the pod, 1000-grain weight, seed yield, straw yield, biological yield was obtained from T4. The highest seed yield (2.68 ton/ ha) was recorded from BARI Chola-9 with foliar spray of boron and seed priming with Mo. The results indicated that foliar spray of B and seed priming with molybdenum can be beneficial in improving growth and yield of chickpea variety BARI Chola-9. J. An experiment was carried out at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during June to December 2012 with a view to finding out the effect of variety and nitrogen fertilizer application on the growth and yield of transplant Aman rice. The experiment comprised four varieties viz. BRRI dhan33, BRRI dhan34, BRRI dhan39 and BRRI dhan46, and four levels of nitrogen viz. control (no urea), prilled urea (50 kg N ha-1), one pellet (0.9g) of USG/4 hills of two adjacent rows (30 kg N ha-1) was applied at 10 DAT and two pellets of USG (0.9g each) one applied at 10 DAT and the other at 45 DAT/4 hills of two adjacent rows (60 kg N ha-1). The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Results of the experiment showed that variety and level of nitrogen application had significant effect on yield attributes and yield of transplant Aman rice. At maturity the tallest plant (122.60 cm) and the highest number total tillers hill-1 (12.72) were observed in two pellets of USG/4 hills providing 60 kg N ha-1. The highest number of tillers hill-1 (10.08) was obtained from BRRI dhan34 and the lowest one (9.88) from BRRI dhan33. The highest grain yield was obtained from BRRI dhan46 (4.56 t ha-1) and the lowest one (3.27 t ha-1) was obtained from BRRI dhan34. The interaction reveals that the highest grain yield (5.61 t ha-1) was obtained from the treatment combination of BRRI dhan46 with two pellets of USG (0.9g each) applied one at 10 DAT and the other at 45 DAT.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jbau.v12i1.21239 J. The present research was conducted at the experimental field of Agrotechnology Discipline, Khulna University, Khulna during Rabi season 2016-17 to investigate the growth and yield performance of mustard varieties. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design consisting of eight mustard varieties (viz. BARI Sarisha-8, BARI Sarisha-11, BARI Sarisha-13, BARI Sarisha-14, BARI Sarisha-15, BARI Sarisha-16, Rai and Tori-7) as treatment and replicated thrice. All the growth, yield attributes and yield were substantially influence among the mustard varieties except the phenological parameters. Results of the experiment showed that the highest plant height (131.33 cm), seed yield (1813.33 kg ha-1) and stover yield (3876.67 kg ha-1) were found in BARI Sarisha-16. BARI Sarisha-11 was found better in respect of maximum siliqua plant-1, weight of seeds plant-1, 1000-seed weight and harvest index. Besides this, BARI Sarisha-14 showed the maximum number of seeds siliqua-1. Therefore, findings of this study suggested that BARI Sarisha-16 would be suitable for better productivity and recommended for cultivation in the medium highland of Khulna region of Bangladesh.

The experiment was conducted at the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) sub-staion, Tajhat, Ranpure, using potato-Boro-T. aman rice cropping pattern with an objective to evaluate the direct and residual effects of sulphur and zinc on the growth, yield and nutrient uptake by the crops. The surface soil was sandy loam texture, pH 6.3, organic matter 1.24%, available sulphur 6.62 ppm and available zinc 0.45 ppm. The experiment comprised of eight treatments for potato S15Zn2 (T2, T4 and T8, S8Zn1 (T5 and T6)and S0Zn0 (T1, T3 and T7), for boro rice S20Zn4 (T3, T5, T6 and T7) and S0Zn0 (T1, T3, T4 and T6). The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Average tuber yield of potato (var. cardinal) varied from 28.29 to 32.86 t ha-1 with the highest yield in S15Zn2 treatment (100% recommended dose) and the lowest was in the S0Zn0 treatment (control). In the second crop (Boro rice), growth and yield attributes, grain and straw yields responded significantly to S and Zn applied either in the first crop or in both crops. The average grain yield varied from 3.51 to 5.27 t ha-1 over the treatments. In the third crop (T. aman rice), the grain and straw yields responded significantly to S and Zn applied either in the first and second crop or in the third crops. The grain yield of T. aman rice varied from 2.96 to 4.46 t ha-1 over the treatments. The growth and yield contributing characters were also significantly influenced by the treatment. An experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh from July to December 2004 to evaluate the effect of hill spacing on the performance of BRRI dhan40 and BRRI dhan41 as Transplant aman crop. The experiment consisted of five hill spacings viz., 5cm. 10cm, 15 cm, and 25 cm where row to row spacing of 25 cm was kept constant for all treatments. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with four replications. The 25 cm x 5 cm hill spacing produced the tallest plant, highest total number of tillers/hill, bearing tillers/hill lowest number of non-hearing tillers/hill, grain yield and harvest index, while 25 cm x 5 cm hill spacing produced the highest number of sterile spikelets/panicle, straw yield and biological yield. BRRI dhan41 produced higher grain yield (4.7 t/ha) which was the contribution of higher number of grains/panicle and heavier grain weight. A field experiment was conducted at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur during 2010-2011 to determine the effects and economic performance of urea super granule (USG) and prilled urea (PU) in terms of growth and yield of broccoli and to find out the optimum and economic doses of USG and PU for broccoli in Shallow Red-Brown Terrace Soil under Madhupur Tract. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications having 17 treatment combinations constituted with different levels of urea super granule (USG) and prilled urea (PU). Result showed that yield of broccoli increased significantly with increasing rate of USG and PU. The treatments containing 160 kg N from USG and 180 kg N from PU exhibited the best performance on yield and yield contributing characters of broccoli having the head yield of 12.9 and 10.6 ton ha-1, respectively. All the yield contributing characters and the economic profitability were favorably correlated with these high yield performing treatments. The performance of USG in terms of growth, yield and yield attributes, head quality (compactness coefficient) and economic profitability was found significantly higher as compared to that of PU. Therefore, USG @ 160 kg N ha-1 and PU @ 180 kg N ha-1 alongwith other recommended fertilizerscould be suggested for broccoli production in terms of yield and economics. From quadratic equation USG @ 163 and 160 kg N ha-1 and PU @ 169 and 160 kg N ha-1 alongwith other recommended fertilizerscould be suggested as optimum and economic doses for broccoli production in Silty Clay Loam Soil of Madhupur Tract.The Agriculturists 2016; 14(2) 95-112

A field experiment was carried out during the winter season 2014/2015 in one of the fields of Abi Gharq district, located 10 km west of the Babylon governorate. The randomized complete block design was used under split-plots arrangement with three replications. The main plots were included levels of nitrogen fertilizer (without fertilizer, 50, 100, 150 N, 200, 250 kg). while the sub-plots were included (without a mower, a mower after 45 days, a mower after 65 days, a mower after 85 days) after planting, The data were taken and analyzed according to the used design and the averages were tested according to the LSD test, and the results were summarized as follows: The date of mowing C1 (mower after 45 days of planting) was significantly higher by giving the highest average for the degree of fallowness and the index of harvest, and the percentage of nitrogen in the green fodder was 3.647, 37.63% and 1.837%, respectively. Treatment C0 (without mower) outperformed significantly by giving it the highest average of biological yield, grain yield and nitrogen percentage in grains, as it gave 15,114 tons. H-1 and 5.73 tons. H-1 and 1.242%, respectively The fertilizer level N5 (250 kg N. H-1) gave the highest average of the degree of lying, biological yield, grain yield, nitrogen percentage in green fodder and nitrogen content in grains, as it gave 3.854% and 7.571 tons. H-1 and 6.20 tons. % And 1.397%, respectively, We conclude from the results of the study that lack of without cutting to a significant increase in the degree of resting, biological yield and grain yield, and we conclude that the high levels of nitrogen led to a significant increase in the degree of lying, biological yield, grain yield, and the proportion of nitrogen in green fodder and grains

The Field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of fertility management on growth, yield attributes and yield of pearlmillet in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with ten treatments and four replications during summer, 2019 at Anand, Gujarat. The experiment comprises of different nutrient management practices including 100% and 75% RDF with 15 t and 10 t FYM along with Bio NP consortia. A significant higher growth and yield parameters enhancement with the application of 100% RDF + 15 t FYM ha-1 + Bio NP Consortia was recorded in plant height, number of tillers, length of ear head, protein content and biological yield. The treatment T5 produced maximum (91.5 q ha-1) biological yield and statistically it was on par with T9 and T5. However, the lowest biomass production (73.0 q ha-1) was reported in treatment T1. Results of different nutrient management practices on days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, ear head girth and test weight were found non-significant.  Protein content of pearlmillet was increased from 7.5% to 9.06% under different nutrient management practices.
