The review article attempts to give recent advances on quinoxaline and its derivatives. Some pathways to the synthesis of quinoxaline, quinoxaline-2-one and quinoxaline-2,3-dione were reported using simple reactive quinoxaline synthon. In addition, the reactions, biological and technological applications of derivatives of quinoxaline and related compounds were reported.

Background: This paper reviews the research progress of pyrazoloquinazolines which widely used in the field of medicine and pesticide in recent years. Five types of pyrazoloquinazolines are introduced: pyrazolo [4,3-h]quinazolines, pyrazolo[1,5-c]quinazolines, pyrazolo[4,3-f]quinazolines, pyrazolo[1,5-a] quinazolines , pyrazolo[1,5-b]quinazolines, and their new progress in the synthesis methods and treatment of diseases. Methodology: The derivatives of pyrazoloquinazolines exhibit a wide range of pharmacological properties such as antibacterial, anticancer, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, antiviral activities. Consequently, their syntheses have attracted significant interest. Various methodologies have been developed for the synthesis and functionalization of these class of compounds. Conclusion: In the present article, the relevant and recent advances in the field will be briefly covered.

: Multiheteroatom-containing small-sized cyclic molecules such as 2- iminothiazolidines are often found to possess beneficial pharmacological properties. In this review article, the biological significance of 2-iminothiazolidines is discussed and the literature reports published in the last 15 years spanning from 2006 to 2020 describing various preparative routes to access 2-iminothiazolidine derivatives have been categorically and chronologically described. The notable synthetic methods discussed here involve ringexpansion transformations of nonactivated and activated aziridines, thiiranes, epoxides, and other miscellaneous reactions.

5,7-Dihydroxy-2,3-dimethyl-l,4-naphthoquinone (5) and related compounds have been synthesized. The quinone affords an accessible substrate for studying an unusual reaction with nucleophiles, which involves attack at the 8-position, i.e. at the benzenoid ring. An unsuccessful approach to (5) has led to tri- and tetra-nitro derivatives of 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene. Reduction of the former and subsequent conversions have given aminonaphthoquinone and perimidinone derivatives.

N,N-Dialkyl derivatives of 3-aminoisoquinoline have been prepared by reaction of nitriles with various arylacetic acid tertiary amides in the presence of phosphoryl chloride. The synthesis has been extended to include a benzoisoquinoline and annulated isoquinolines by the selection of appropriate amide and nitrile precursors.
