This study explored the important factors affecting the recidivism rate of drunk driving for car and motorbike users. The respondents were students of Taiwan’s road safety training course, which was required for all drunk drivers who were suspended from driving due to the violation of regulations. The characteristics of the drunk car and motorbike drivers, such as socioeconomic variables, alcohol consumption changes, family life cycle, and changes in the number of trips, were investigated. This study estimated the models affecting the recidivism rate of drunk driving for car and motorbike users with the logistic regression model. The main variables included drivers with a university degree or above who tend not to be recidivists compared to the drivers without one. Such respondents are more willing to avoid the risk of becoming drunk driving recidivists. Moreover, the variables of alcohol use disorders’ identification test (AUDIT), breath alcohol concentration, and frequency of drunk driving all significantly affect the possibility of recidivism. In terms of family life cycle, married respondents with children aged between 1 and 5 are less likely to become drunk driving recidivists. Those who take motorbikes as an alternative vehicle after being suspended from driving cars are more likely to become drunk driving recidivists. This study suggests the measures of suspending or withdrawing car and motorbike driver’s licenses at the same time, using alcolocks to restrict the right to drive, and increasing the frequency of drunk driving crackdowns. In addition, in terms of alcohol consumption behaviors, drinkers with high risks and drunk drivers with high breath alcohol concentrations should be regarded as the key targets for future tracking in order to avoid drunk driving recidivism.

This paper examines the effect of the family life cycle on housing demand in different residential areas of Ibadan Municipality with a view to providing information on households‟ housing consumption for enhanced housing delivery. Data for the study were collected through questionnaire administered on household heads in the core, transition and suburban residential areas of Ibadan Municipality using multi-stage sampling. In doing this, the political wards in the five local government areas were stratified into differential residential areas, thus making 59 political wards in the study area. Therefore, one political ward each was selected across the different residential areas of the five LGAs, thereby totalling 15 political wards. Respondents were drawn from 10% of identified buildings for questionnaire administration using a systematic sampling technique, thus making 363 household heads selected. The study revealed that respondents‟ socio-economic characteristics varied significantly across different residential areas. The study also established that the proportion of households in stage four of the family life cycle, increased as distance increases from the core towards the suburban residential areas. The predominant households‟ housing tenure status was the leasehold. The study concluded that stages in family life cycle influenced households housing demand.

The purpose of this study was to explore gender influence on home renovation based on family life cycle in suburban housing of Bukit Kencana Jaya Semarang, Indonesia. Sixty households were interviewed and the resulting data were analyzed using the mix method. This attempt is important to determine the gender roles and relations influencing housing demand policies. The result showed most renovation activities were conducted on families with children, in addition to formulating two deductions. First, in single and new couples, gender productive roles tend to support house function in terms of economic existence and societal perception. Second, in families with children and elderly, these utilities serve as a habitat for income sources and welfare support.
