In this paper, we consider a nongeneric quadratic reversible system with piecewise polynomial perturbations. We use the expansion of the first order Melnikov function to obtain the maximal number of small-amplitude limit cycles produced by Hopf bifurcation in the perturbed systems.

The objective of this study was to replace elastomer crosslinking based on chemical covalent bonds by reversible systems under processing. One way is based on ionic bonds creation, which allows a physical crosslinking while keeping the process reversibility. However, due to the weak elasticity recovery of such a physical network after a long period of compression, the combination of both physical and chemical networks was studied. In that frame, an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer grafted with maleic anhydride (EPDM-g-MA) was crosslinked with metal salts and/or dicumyl peroxide (DCP). Thus, the influence of these two types of crosslinking networks and their combination were studied in detail in terms of compression set. The second part of this work was focused on the influence of different metallic salts (KOH, ZnAc2) and the sensitivity to the water of the physical crosslinking network. Finally, the combination of ionic and covalent network allowed combining the processability and better mechanical properties in terms of recovery elasticity. KAc proved to be the best ionic candidate to avoid water degradation of the ionic network and then to preserve the elasticity recovery properties under aging.

We study three systems from the classification of cubic reversible systems given by Żoła̧dek in 1994. Using affine transformations and elimination algorithms from these three families the six components of the center variety are derived and limit-cycle bifurcations in neighborhoods of the components are investigated. The invariance of the systems with respect to the generalized involutions introduced by Bastos, Buzzi and Torregrosa in 2021 is discussed. Computations are performed using the computer algebra systems Mathematica and Singular.

<div> <div> <div> <p>Solid state thermosalience—a sudden exertion of an expansive or contractive physical force following a temperature change in a solid state compound—is rare, few are reversible systems, and most of these are limited to a dozen or so cycles before the crystal degrades or they reverse slowly over the course of many minutes or even hours. In this work, we show a fully reversible actuator that is stable at room temperature for multiple years and is capable of actuation for more than two hundred cycles at near ambient temperature. Specifically, the crystals shrink to 90% of its original length instantaneously upon heating beyond 45 °C and expands back to its original length upon cooling below 35 °C. This temperature regime is important because it occurs around physiologically important temperatures. Furthermore, the phase transition occurs instantaneously, with little obvious hysteresis, allowing us to create real-time actuating thermal fuses that cycle between on and off rapidly. </p> </div> </div> </div>
