This study investigates factors that motivated the first year undergraduate student teachers for choosing teaching as a career and also explores their perceptions about the teaching profession in Namibia. The study consists of 80 First year student teachers, 40 from Hifikepunye Pohamba campus, and 40 from Khomasdal campus. Quantitative approach was used to identify some of the factors that motivated students to choose teaching as a career. Factor Influencing Teaching choices scale (FIT scale: Watt & Richardson, 2007) was used to investigate the student teachers’ motivation and perception of teaching as a career. Analysis of the data reveals that most of the participants value making social contribution and shaping children’s future. Moreover, factors such as university admission requirements, gender, stereotype of different grade level specialization, finance and the general socio-cultural image of teaching as a career in Namibia, among others, shaped the participants’ motivations and perceptions.

This article aims to identify and analyze articles in which the subject career was the main object of the study, published in journals associated with the Scientific Periodicals Electronic Library (SPELL) and SCIELO (Scientific Eletronic Library Online), in the administration area. Through content analysis, in the articulation of theoretical revision with empirical, emerged the category of career analysis of women. After the identification and classification of these articles, published between the years 2010 and 2017, they were organized in spreadsheets, and the data, tabulated in order to visualize: 1) number of publications per periodic and per year; 2) themes approched; 3) the journals that most used this theoretical perspective; 4) the main methodologies used. Among the results found, it was possible to observe that, in the last 7 years, the academic production on women's career did not have an expressive number of publications, most of them based on more traditional professionals, such as executives and managers, with few studies focused on other Professional categories such as health professionals, teachers, autonomous professionals, etc, indicating a area of research to be explored by brazilian researchers. It is pointed out the need to deconstruct the notion of career as an individual and masculinized management, as well as the dialogue with several areas of knowledge, expanding the dimension of women’s career.

The career analysis conducted among the alumni of universities is dominated in Poland by the tendency to verify which competencies (demanded mostly by the labour market) they have acquired and how they have managed to cope with finding employment. The ability of studying is a rarely discussed problem, which is unjustifiably considered necessary only during the course of study. However, this ability leads to shaping the extent of academic thinking, also understood as a specific way of solving problems – not only purely academic ones but professional ones as well. The author of the presented article, while referring to pedagogical concepts of S. Hessen and D. Benner, has developed a theoretical model of study skills and subsequently conducted its empirical verification by performing a repeated analysis of selected data obtained in 2016 during the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University graduates’ career analysis. The conducted replication has proved that, firstly, the exploration of study skills among the alumni has not been taken into account when examining careers of the graduates, which might have served as feedback regarding the modification of the education process at the university; secondly, it seems that the graduates have acquired study competence at least to a certain degree, which finds evidence in success achieved by most of them – i.e. finding employment; and, thirdly, satisfaction of completing studies is linked with the feeling of having the right competence and consequently with recommending the university to others.
