Genotypic correlation between Salmonella Enteritidis isolates from broiler breeders and hatchery flocks

In this study, Salmonella Enteritidis strains isolated from dust and environmental materials from different flocks located in Turkey’s Western Black Sea region were examined by pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus sequence typing (MLST). A total of 59 S. Enteritidis strains isolated from broiler breeder and hatchery flocks, and one S. Enteritidis strain isolated from a stool sample of a farm worker were examined. PFGE analysis revealed two major PFGE groups and nine different macro restriction profiles. It was determined that 85% (51/60) of the strains were close to each other and comprised Group I. All S. Enteritidis strains had the same sequence type (ST): ST11. Isolation of strains with a single genotype suggests that there may be a cross transmission between the flocks.

Sustainable Livelihood Conditions of Farm Worker Households around Baluran National Park: Case Study in Wonorejo, Indonesia

Farm workers are a group that is vulnerable to poverty and depends on weather or climatic factors. However, this profession dominates one of the villages around the Baluran National Park of Indonesia, i.e., Wonorejo, Banyuputih Subdistrict, Situbondo District, East Java. The Baluran National Park is a natural resource conservation area with a savanna ecosystem that was established in March 1980 through the Deklarasi Lima Taman Nasional (Declaration of Five National Parks) of Indonesia. It has an area of 25,000 hectares located in Banyuputih Subdistrict, Situbondo District, East Java and includes t h ree villages, i.e., Wonorejo, Sumberwaru, and Sumberanyar. This study aimed to describe the sustainable livelihood conditions of farm worker households in Wonorejo. This study is a quantitative research through household surveys and is supported by in-depth interviews with expert informants. The results of this study confirmed that farm workers in Wonorejo had good access to five livelihood assets, i.e., natural, physical, human, social, and financial assets. They had also been able to survive without destroying the natural resources in Baluran National Park.

Maintaining the temporary nature of the seasonal agriculture workers program in Canada: a source country analysis

The successful management of the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP) in Canada for the past 52 years lies with the bilateral agreement of the program’s Memorandum of Understanding. Despite its expansion over the decades, the program does not offer a pathway to permanent residency for migrant farm-workers. The power imbalance in maintaining the ability to grant permanent residence pathways lies mainly with the host country (Canada). However, source country by proxy also appears to play a role in maintaining the temporary nature of the program via managing and policing the SAWP workers. Based on a case study, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and a total of 10 interviews with workers, former workers, former and current civil servants responsible for the program in this country, the Major Research Paper interrogates the roles played by the source country in the continuation of the temporary migrant status and conditions associated with SAWP. . Pemanfaatan potensi lokal buah Nanas untuk meningkatkan perekonomian keluarga di Kecamatan Bangko Pusako Kabupaten Rokan Hilir

Bangko Pusako is a sub-district in district Rokan Hilir, Riau. Mostly the native works as palm oil farm workers and pineapple farmer.Regardless, people need the knowledge to manage local potensial through understanding about business they’ll gonna run, the law, and also simple financial report to develop local potensial becoming potensial business.This program (communities devotion) has a goal to enhancing knowledge of society in Bangko Pusako, especially housewife and daughter of palm oil farm worker, about how pineapple fruit is processed as jam and dodol (traditional food of Indonesia) by diversification. Other goals include entrepreneurship foundation, business law, competitiveness analysis of processed pineapple products, and simply financial report’s training in term to manage business processed pineapple product diversification. So that it can improve the economic welfare of the family in the villages in the Bangko Pusako sub-district, Rokan Hilir district. From the results of the program evaluation, there have been several mothers who make pineapple jam and sell it to neighbors based on orders for cake jam and some sell lunkhead pineapple to schools which are packaged in small plastic.
