This study aims to identify policies, levels of imports, production and consumption in East Java, to analyze the impact of rice import tariff policies on production and consumption and also the community welfare changes in East Java. The data that used in this study are secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), BULOG, and other research. The method of analysis uses the 2SLS simultaneous equation and the economic surplus simulation. The results showed that from 2004 to 2018, East Java always had a higher rice production rate than the consumption, but still continued to do rice import to maintain price stabilization. The simulation of a tariff increase causes an increase in production and a decrease in consumption, and vice versa. Liberalization of the rice trade (tariff exemption) has led to greater economic welfare, but from a distribution point of view, producers receive a smaller surplus than consumers, which means that the benefit distribution aspect of government policies is not realized, so the government must pay more attention to producer surpluses and consumer surpluses without much disadvantage one of the parties.

PurposeThe goal of this paper is to validate the second-order model for the economic welfare scale in the context of violence. This study also aims to assess the relationship between the dimensions of the economic welfare scale’ declining food consumption and loss of income and the overall latent construct and assess the second-order model’s goodness of fit using appropriate fit indices.Design/methodology/approachThe study is cross-sectional with a sample of 600 households from the violent zone, Northwest Nigeria. The data collected was used for confirmatory factor analysis, second-order model evaluation and model fit evaluation.FindingsThe second-order model for the economic welfare scale is valid and reliable; the dimensions significantly affect the formation of the overall construct. The model’s goodness of fit fulfilled the relevant fit indices.Research limitations/implicationsThe study offers researchers and policymakers practical insights into how each dimension influences the latent operational construct. It, therefore, encompasses replication in all the remaining modules.Practical implicationsThe findings offer practical insight to policymakers in designing policies for promoting long-term peace structures and developing mechanisms to assist those who have suffered the greatest economic welfare losses due to violence in Nigeria.Social implicationsThe findings form an essential tool to assess the economic welfare effect in violently affected territories at the micro-level.Originality/valueThe outcomes are ground-breaking by validating the second-order model for the economic welfare scale. And established dimension influences over the overall latent variable.

The ageing population has become one of the major issues, with manifold consequences upon the economic welfare and elderly living standards satisfaction. This paper grasps an in-depth assessment framework of the ageing phenomenon in connection with the labor market, with significant implications upon economic welfare, across the European Union (EU–27). We configure our research on four distinctive groups of the EU–27 countries based on the Active Ageing Index mapping, during 1995–2018, by acknowledging the different intensities of ageing implications on economic well-being from one group of countries to another. The methodological endeavor is based on Structural Equation Modelling. Empirical results highlight that the ageing dimensions and labor market productivity notably shape the socioeconomic development of EU countries, visibly distinguished across the four panels. The economic development induced remarkable positive spillover effects on the welfare of older people, under the influence of the ageing credentials and dynamic shaping factors. Our research advances the literature underpinnings on this multifaceted topic by investigation made on specific groups of the EU countries and distinctive strategies proposed for each group of countries, as effective results for improving the well-being of older people. Constant policy rethinking and adequate strategies should be a top priority for each specific group of EU countries, to further sustain the ageing phenomenon, with positive implications mostly on elderly welfare.

Women are the most important members of the society. Islam is the only religion where women are given their due rights in the light of rights and duties without discrimination. As we know that in human society there have been opinions based on discrimination against women’s character and role. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) has completed all aspects of prophet-hood and nothing can be added and removed in it. And the most important thing is that Prophet (PBUH) has shed ample light on women’s social and economic role. This elaboration of women’s social and economic role has uncovered the fact that during the time of Prophet Mohammad and spread of Islam women have participated to their utmost to benefit Islam. Among different aspects of women’s liberation one aspect is their right of trade and business ownership which is complete contrast against western concept of women liberation.  Though in Islam, women are not obligated to earn for living, but Islam gives them proper right in certain economic issues like, Feminine services, breastfeeding, incubation, and medicine and women surgeries. In the light of mentioned example we conclude that women are one of the most important part of economic welfare of the society, and there is no place of Western claim that Islam has made women “a disabled part”. In the light of Prophet Mohammad’s (PB UH) character and sayings all possible means of earning for women and their level of participation is discussed and elaborated in accordance with the following professions: trade, agriculture, labor, handicraft. In this brief article following topics will be discussed: Women’s monetary right in the light of prophet’s Teachings.  Legitimate means of earning for women (in accordance with modern era) Illegitimate means of earning for women (in accordance with modern era) Suggestions and recommendations.

Islam is a belief that has a social teaching dimension, to encourage poverty alleviation through the exploitation (ZIS) of "zakat, infaq, and alms". Furthermore, this charity is an instrument in economic empowerment activities, namely efforts to provide free assistance to help Muslims who are less economically empowered so that they are able to help themselves. NU means the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. NU means an inseparable part in the dynamics of the history of the development of the Indonesian nation. Indonesia in general. While NU's organizational principles have long held the concept of economic welfare, indirectly NU still seems to not prioritize empowerment in the economic sector. When dealing with the MEA (Asean Economic Community), NU's strategies and actions in carrying out the mandate to increase the welfare of the people must be right. The accuracy of the tactics and actions in question is of course permanent based on a clear religious dimension.

The study aims to predict the macroeconomic effects of income tax in Saudi Arabia to diversify government income flows and increase non-oil government revenues. The research approach is based on using the dynamic general equilibrium model of the Saudi economy to achieve the results of simulating the scenario of applying income tax by 5% during the period (2020-2030). The results exhibit that income and profit tax reform showed positive results when transferring revenue through government transfers to households. A 5% income and profit tax are expected to improve GDP performance by 0.12%. Macroeconomic indicators, including consumption, investment, exports, and imports, are also improving slightly. Government revenues have enhanced due to the implementation of this scenario, and non-oil revenues are expected to increase from 370 billion Saudi riyals in 2020 to about 568 billion Saudi riyals in 2030. This will increase the contribution of non-oil revenues to total government revenues from 47% in 2020 to 57% in 2030. If income from income tax in the economy is transferred through government transfers to households, this will improve economic welfare.
