This article summarizes a case study of three Asian American teachers and their experiences in integrating Asian American perspectives into their social studies teaching. Through examining these teachers’ experiences, the importance of teacher dispositions, teacher knowledge of Asian American histories, and access to ongoing professional learning opportunities that centered equity emerged as critical to integrating Asian American perspectives into the curriculum.

Disasters are known as calamities affecting all humanity on earth and have adverse impacts on human life in various ways. Although many natural disasters cannot be prevented, their adverse effects on people can be mitigated. It is important to raise the awareness of people about disasters, whether they are caused by human effects or nature. Disaster education plays an important role in raising this awareness. The study group of the study consists of 172 teacher candidates receiving education in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of the department of social studies teaching in a state university located in the Central Anatolia region. In order to measure the disaster awareness of the teacher candidates, the scanning pattern included under the quantitative study method has been used. T-test and ANOVA has been utilized in the analysis of disaster awareness perception scale. As the result of the analysis; in the sub-dimensions of disaster education awareness, pre-disaster awareness, false disaster awareness and post-disaster awareness, the teacher candidates have been evaluated according to their gender, their general academic average scores, their participation in a conference or a panel and according to their homework, presentation or project preparing status. Based on the results of the research, in order for the teacher candidates to gain the right disaster awareness, it has been recommended that they should be provided with disaster awareness courses in their undergraduate curriculum, that they should take part in various research projects, and attend various symposiums, congresses related with disaster awareness.

The aim of this study is to reveal the experiences of social studies teachers and prospective teachers in developing augmented reality applications and their views on the use of this technology in social studies teaching. The sample of the study consists of 60 people, including a total that 30 social studies teachers working in different cities of Turkey and 30 prospective teachers studying in the social studies education departments of 10 different universities. The data obtained by the questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive statistical methods. As a result of the research, participants evaluated the use of augmented reality technology in social studies teaching as innovative, flexible, effective, entertaining and interesting. It was stated that the use of augmented reality applications in social studies courses would create an effective learning environment and multimedia teaching. They also stated that some limitation factors such as accessing the internet, connection speed and providing class discipline in the use of augmented reality applications in the classroom.

Pembelajaran IPS dipraktikkan pada level sekolah dasar dan menengah. Secara teoritis materi ajar IPS disusun berdasarkan disiplin ilmu sosial yaitu geografi, ekonomi, sosiologi dan sejarah. Satu di antaranya yaitu sejarah yang dimanfaatkan dalam pengembangan materi ajar IPS terutama pada materi kelas VIII SMP/MTs pada BAB IV sub materi Tumbuh dan Berkembangnya Semangat Kebangsaan, ilmu sejarah syarat akan makna. Pada pelajaran IPS juga banyak memunculkan inovasi baru yang sebagian orang belum mengetahuinya.  Adapun Ancaman terhadap pola hidup boros serta terlalu bangga dengan produk luar, dan perilaku seolah tidak peduli terhadap persoalan bangsa sendiri dapat mempengaruhi keadaan pendidikan. Tujuan penulisan artikel ini untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam materi ilmu sejarah dalam kontribusi pada mata pelajaran IPS. Maka peran pada materi sejarah sangat berguna dalam mentransfer nilai-nilai kesejarahan dalam mempersiapkan penerus bangsa Indonesia yang mempunyai karakter sebagai warga Negara Indonesia dengan pembelajaran sejarah pada satuan pendidikan, karena pembelajaran sejarah dapat dijadikan cara dalam pembentukan karakter bangsa Indonesia. Studi literatur digunakan untuk menyusun deskripsi yang utuh dalam artikel. Penelusuran artikel publikasi digunakan dalam strategi pencarian dengan menggunakan kata kunci yang sesuai. Pencarian kata kunci dalam mekanisme penelusuran data digunakan untuk mendapatkan hasil melalui google scholar. Metode naratif digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan data hasil pencarian yang sesuai dengan kata kunci untuk menjawab tujuan dari penulisan artikel ini. Hasil penulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk membhahas makna pada nilai-nilai materi ilmu sejarah pada kontribusi IPS yaitu cinta tanah air, patriotisme, dan nasionalisme untuk memberikan pengetahuan bahwa dengan pembelajaran IPS sangat berperan untuk menumbuhkan karakter peserta didik.
