Isolation and identification of endophytic fungi from mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata L.)

Endophytic fungi are recognised for producing secondary metabolites that have an effect on the host, such as promoting growth and enhancing plant resilience to biotic and abiotic stress. The objective of this study was to explore endophytic fungi from Citrus reticulata. The endophytic fungi were isolated from both healthy and infected roots, stems, and twigs of C. reticulata. The materials were sterilised and inoculated on potato dextrose agar (PDA) media. The fungi grown were transferred onto fresh PDA plates and identified based on their morphological characteristic, including colonial features, hyphae type, and reproduction structure. Five endophytic fungi were identified as Colletotrichum sp. AJSH2-1, Cylindrocladium sp. BJSH1-2, Rhizopus sp. RJSH1-1, Mucor sp. RJSH1-2, and Aspergillus sp. BJSH1-1. Further study is required to understand the ability of the identified genera in protecting the host from plant disease as well as promoting growth.

New species in Aciculosporium, Shimizuomyces and a new genus Morakotia associated with plants in Clavicipitaceae from Thailand

Three new fungal species in the Clavicipitaceae (Hypocreales, Ascomycota) associated with plants were collected in Thailand. Morphological characterisation and phylogenetic analyses based on multi-locus sequences of LSU, RPB1 and TEF1 showed that two species belong to Aciculosporium and Shimizuomyces. Morakotia occupies a unique clade and is proposed as a novel genus in Clavicipitaceae. Shimizuomyces cinereus and Morakotia fusca share the morphological characteristic of having cylindrical to clavate stromata arising from seeds. Aciculosporium siamense produces perithecial plates and occurs on a leaf sheath of an unknown panicoid grass.

Complete Aortic Endograft Occlusion in a Patient with Psoriasis: A Case Report and Systematic Review of the Literature Seeking for a Potential Causal Association

Background: We report a case of a patient with complete aortic endograft occlusion and no morphological characteristic that could explain this event, other than the hypercoagulant status associated with psoriasis. The patient had severe intertriginous psoriasis complicated with cellulitis and sepsis and was treated with endograft excision and replacement with an aortic tube graft.
