Abstract With the development of the marine economy, the number of ships is increasing day by day, and is developing towards large-scale, diversified and professional development, and marine accidents caused by driver fatigue have attracted more and more attention. In order to reduce marine traffic accidents caused by fatigue driving of ship drivers and ensure the safety of life and property at sea, it is very necessary and important to study effective methods to detect the fatigue state of ship drivers in real time. This article mainly studies the early warning of ship fatigue driving. In view of the difficulties of the ship fatigue driving detection technology, reasonable performance indicators of the ship anti-fatigue driving image processing and early warning system are proposed; according to the system performance indicators, the HOG+SVM method is determined to automatically track the human face, and the human eye detection and tracking method is designed. Improved the method of eyelid closure to determine fatigue. In order to determine the eye opening and closing state or blinking frequency. The PERCLOS method is used to determine whether the driver is tired, and a warning is given when the ship’s watch driver is tired. The system has the characteristics of non-contact, real-time, etc. and complies with the relevant technical standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on the ship bridge fatigue warning system (BNWAS).

Traffic accidents are easily caused by tired driving. If the fatigue state of the driver can be identified in time and a corresponding early warning can be provided, then the occurrence of traffic accidents could be avoided to a large extent. At present, the recognition of fatigue driving states is mostly based on recognition accuracy. Fatigue state is currently recognized by combining different features, such as facial expressions, electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, yawning, and the percentage of eyelid closure over the pupil over time (PERCLoS). The combination of these features increases the recognition time and lacks real-time performance. In addition, some features will increase error in the recognition result, such as yawning frequently with the onset of a cold or frequent blinking with dry eyes. On the premise of ensuring the recognition accuracy and improving the realistic feasibility and real-time recognition performance of fatigue driving states, a fast support vector machine (FSVM) algorithm based on EEGs and electrooculograms (EOGs) is proposed to recognize fatigue driving states. First, the collected EEG and EOG modal data are preprocessed. Second, multiple features are extracted from the preprocessed EEGs and EOGs. Finally, FSVM is used to classify and recognize the data features to obtain the recognition result of the fatigue state. Based on the recognition results, this paper designs a fatigue driving early warning system based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology. When the driver shows symptoms of fatigue, the system not only sends a warning signal to the driver but also informs other nearby vehicles using this system through IoT technology and manages the operation background.

AbstractTo accurately identify fatigued driving, establishing a monitoring system is one of the important guarantees of improving traffic safety and reducing traffic accidents. Among many research methods, electrooculogram signal (EOG) has unique advantages. This paper presents a systematic literature review of these technologies and summarizes a basic framework of fatigue driving monitoring system based on EOGs. Then we summarize the advantages and disadvantages of existing technologies. In addition, 80 primary references published during the last decade were identified. The multi-feature fusion technique based on EOGs performs better than other traditional methods due to its low cost, low power consumption and low intrusion, while its application is still limited which needs more efforts to obtain good and generalizable results. And then, an overview of the literature on technology is given, revealing a premier and unbiased survey of the existing empirical research of classification techniques that have been applied to fatigue driving analysis. Finally, this paper adds value to the current literature by investigating the application of EOG signals in fatigued driving and the design of related systems, future guidelines have been provided to practitioners and researchers to grasp the major contributions and challenges in the state-of-the-art research.

With the increasing pressure of current life, fatigue caused by high-pressure work has deeply affected people and even threatened their lives. In particular, fatigue driving has become a leading cause of traffic accidents and deaths. This paper investigates electroencephalography (EEG)-based fatigue detection for driving by mining the latent information through the spatial-temporal changes in the relations between EEG channels. First, EEG data are partitioned into several segments to calculate the covariance matrices of each segment, and then we feed these matrices into a recurrent neural network to obtain high-level temporal information. Second, the covariance matrices of whole signals are leveraged to extract two kinds of spatial features, which will be fused with temporal characteristics to obtain comprehensive spatial-temporal information. Experiments on an open benchmark showed that our method achieved an excellent classification accuracy of 93.834% and performed better than several novel methods. These experimental results indicate that our method enables better reliability and feasibility in the detection of fatigued driving.

AbstractIn order to solve the problem of traffic accidents caused by fatigue driving, the research of EEG signals is particularly important, which can timely and accurately determine the fatigue state and take corresponding measures. Effective fatigue improvement measures are an important research topic in the current scientific field. The purpose of this article is to use EEG signals to analyze fatigue driving and prevent the dangers and injuries caused by fatigue driving. We designed the electroencephalogram (EEG) signal acquisition model to collect the EEG signal of the experimenter, and then removed the noise through the algorithm of Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) and independent component analysis (ICA). On the basis of in-depth analysis and full understanding, we learned about the EEG signal of the driver at different driving times and different landscape roads, and provided some references for the study of music in relieving driving fatigue. The results of the study show that in the presence of music, the driver can keep the EEG signal active for more than 2 h, while in the absence of music, the driver’s EEG signal is active for about 1.5 h. Under different road conditions, the driver’s EEG signal activity is not consistent. The β wave and (α + θ)/β ratio of the driver in mountainous roads and grassland road landscape environments are highly correlated with driving time, and β wave is negatively correlated with driving time, and (α + θ)/β is positively correlated with driving time. In addition, the accumulation of changes in the two indicators is also strongly correlated with driving time.
