This chapter investigates the concepts of internationalization/ internazionalizzazione and Englishization/anglicizzazione as used by academics publishing research about Italian higher education in English and Italian. We seek to understand whether internationalization is understood principally as Englishization, and to investigate the resonance of the terms in context. Methodologically, three corpora are analysed within a corpus-assisted discourse studies approach. The f indings indicate that internationalization is presented in a neutral light, is not construed exclusively as Englishization, which is used invariably as a negative term indicating an invasive process from which Italian academia needs to defend itself. The research suggests reconsidering the role of English as a way of making Italian academic culture more accessible to international audiences, rather than a threat to its identity.

The problem of unconstrained or constrained optimization occurs in many branches of mathematics and various fields of application. It is, however, an NP-hard problem in general. In this thesis, we examine an approximation approach based on the class of SAGE exponentials, which are nonnegative exponential sums. We examine this SAGE-cone, its geometry, and generalizations. The thesis consists of three main parts: 1. In the first part, we focus purely on the cone of sums of globally nonnegative exponential sums with at most one negative term, the SAGE-cone. We ex- amine the duality theory, extreme rays of the cone, and provide two efficient optimization approaches over the SAGE-cone and its dual. 2. In the second part, we introduce and study the so-called S-cone, which pro- vides a uniform framework for SAGE exponentials and SONC polynomials. In particular, we focus on second-order representations of the S-cone and its dual using extremality results from the first part. 3. In the third and last part of this thesis, we turn towards examining the con- ditional SAGE-cone. We develop a notion of sublinear circuits leading to new duality results and a partial characterization of extremality. In the case of poly- hedral constraint sets, this examination is simplified and allows us to classify sublinear circuits and extremality for some cases completely. For constraint sets with certain conditions such as sets with symmetries, conic, or polyhedral sets, various optimization and representation results from the unconstrained setting can be applied to the constrained case.

Refugee or "Newcomer". Dispute over the Word: About the Artistic Project "Nowacy" ("Newcomers") by Jana Shostak in the Context of the Construction of Meaning and the Migration CrisisThe artistic diploma project of Jana Shostak, a Polish student from Belarus, assumed the introduction of the word “nowak” (newcomer) into the Polish language as an alternative to the negative term “refugee.” This initiative becomes particularly important in the context of the migration crisis, going beyond the safe sphere of art. The methods of presenting it, both by the artist and by the media, in the form of interviews, press articles and comments on internet forums, were analyzed. The article is an attempt to make a meta-interpretation of this artistic proposal from the perspective of critical cultural studies, emphasizing two main areas: culture as a battlefield and language as a tool of constructing meaning. Methodologically, it is also supported by relativistic linguistic theories, the paradigm of symbolic interactionism, ethnomethodology, the concept of engaged aesthetics and critical theory.

A word often used to describe music is “smooth”. It is mostly meant as a negative term, used to label music as commercial, light, superficial and easily forgotten. However, smooth music is also well-made, with a high level of professionality. In this chapter I take as a starting point the criticism of beauty as smoothness found in Byung-Chul Han’s book Die Errettung des Schönen [Saving beauty], and investigate how this criticism applies to music. Furthermore, I try to define what makes music smooth. While smoothness can easily be defined when speaking about physical objects, music is evasive. Hence, smoothness is defined metaphorically, and according to what it is not, e.g. a work of art, or something that can lead to an experience, a concept I discuss in light of Gadamer, Heidegger, Adorno and Vetlesen. I claim that due to the elusive character of music almost any music can lead to an experience, but it is not a product of the subject’s efforts alone. Moreover, smoothness as a characteristic of music seems to have a liminal quality to it, as it cannot be defined in light of its opposite, but is trapped in its own perfection.

Sentiment Analysis (SA) examines the hassle of studying texts, like posts and reviews, uploaded by way of customers on microblogging platforms, forums, and electronic agencies, concerning the evaluations they have got about a product, service, event, man or woman or idea. The common used of SA is classifying text to a several class such as positive, neutral and negative term classification. This paper aims to compare the techniques being used to examine SA especially for reviewing product or services. These techniques are not only being applied in review product prediction, but they were applied in different filed such as production, sales and marketing. Based on the comparison of each model and their uses, lexicon-based approach is the best solution for classifying SA.
