The ongoing transition towards 5G technology expedites the emergence of a variety of mobile applications that pertain to different vertical industries. Delivering on the key commitment of 5G, these diverse service streams, along with their distinct requirements, should be facilitated under the same unified network infrastructure. Consequently, in order to unleash the benefits brought by 5G technology, a holistic approach towards the requirement analysis and the design, development, and evaluation of multiple concurrent vertical services should be followed. In this paper, we focus on the Transport vertical industry, and we study four novel vehicular service categories, each one consisting of one or more related specific scenarios, within the framework of the “5G Health, Aquaculture and Transport (5G-HEART)” 5G PPP ICT-19 (Phase 3) project. In contrast to the majority of the literature, we provide a holistic overview of the overall life-cycle management required for the realization of the examined vehicular use cases. This comprises the definition and analysis of the network Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) resulting from high-level user requirements and their interpretation in terms of the underlying network infrastructure tasked with meeting their conflicting or converging needs. Our approach is complemented by the experimental investigation of the real unified 5G pilot’s characteristics that enable the delivery of the considered vehicular services and the initial trialling results that verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the presented theoretical analysis.

This chapter presents the work of the Autonomic Networking Integrated Model and Approach (ANIMA) working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). It was formed to standardize protocols and procedures for an ANIMA autonomic network (AN) and first chartered to define the ANIMA secure autonomic network infrastructure (ANI). This chapter describes the technical history and goals leading to this working group. It then describes how the ANIMA approach provides an evolutionary approach to securing and automating networks and to provide a common infrastructure to evolve into future autonomic networks. Finally, this chapter compares this approach to adjacent standards technologies and discusses interesting next steps.

Based on the research conducted on the European policy of data ecosystem formation, the feasibility of regulatory alignment of the components of the digital ecosystem model in Ukraine to measure and control the parameters on economic sustainability is substantiated. The article presents the approaches of the EU, international standardization organizations and scientists to understanding the essence of the data ecosystem, identifies factors that impact the complexity of network assets administration on the example of infrastructure assets. Emphasis is placed on ensuring sustainability and assurance of existing network infrastructure assets throughout their lifecycle. The problems of digital transformation related to the increasing strain on all infrastructure systems, which are solved by the model of network infrastructure formation, are outlined. The need to accelerate the introduction of semantic technologies in IoT, in particular artificial intelligence, which expands the possibilities of data analysis and control and support of economic indicators of the state and the creation of added value in production and services, is justified.

This paper proposes an aerial data network infrastructure for Large Geographical Area Surveillance Systems. The work presents a review of previous works from the authors, existing technologies in the market, and other scientific work, with the goal of creating a data network supported by Autonomous Tethered Aerostat Airships used for sensor fixing, a drones deployment base, and meshed data network nodes installation. The proposed approach for data network infrastructure supports several independent and heterogeneous services from independent, private, and public companies. The presented solution employs Edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems for autonomous infrastructure management. The Edge AI used in the presented solution enables the AI management solution to work without the need for a permanent connection to cloud services and is constantly fed by the locally generated sensor data. These systems interact with other network AI services to accomplish coordinated tasks. Blockchain technology services are deployed to ensure secure and auditable decisions and operations, which are validated by the different involved ledgers.
