Abstract A data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment has been analysed to search for $$ {B}_c^{+}\to {D}_{(s)}^{\left(\ast \right)+}{\genfrac{}{}{0pt}{}{\left(\hbox{---} \right)}{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ B c + → D s ∗ + — D ∗ 0 decays. The decays are fully or partially reconstructed, where one or two missing neutral pions or photons from the decay of an excited charm meson are allowed. Upper limits for the branching fractions, normalised to B+ decays to final states with similar topologies, are obtained for sixteen $$ {B}_c^{+} $$ B c + decay modes. For the decay $$ {B}_c^{+}\to {D}_s^{+}{\overline{D}}^0 $$ B c + → D s + D ¯ 0 , an excess with a significance of 3.4 standard deviations is found.

Abstract The production cross sections for prompt open-charm mesons in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are reported. The measurement is performed using a data sample collected by the CMS experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 29 nb−1. The differential production cross sections of the D∗±, D±, and D0$$ \left({\overline{\mathrm{D}}}^0\right) $$ D ¯ 0 mesons are presented in ranges of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity 4 < pT< 100 GeV and |η| < 2.1, respectively. The results are compared to several theoretical calculations and to previous measurements.

The mass modifications of the open charm ([Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]) mesons, and their effects on the decay widths [Formula: see text] as well as of the charmonium state, [Formula: see text] to open charm mesons ([Formula: see text]), are investigated in the presence of strong magnetic fields. These are studied accounting for the mixing of the pseudoscalar ([Formula: see text]) and vector ([Formula: see text]) mesons ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] mixings), with the mixing parameter, [Formula: see text] of a phenomenological three-point ([Formula: see text]) vertex interaction determined from the observed radiative decay width of [Formula: see text]. For charged [Formula: see text] mixing, this parameter is dependent on the magnetic field, because of the Landau level contributions to the vacuum masses of these mesons. The masses of the charged [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] mesons modified due to [Formula: see text] mixing, in addition, have contributions from the lowest Landau levels in the presence of a strong magnetic field. The effects of the magnetic field on the decay widths are studied using a field theoretical model of composite hadrons with quark (and antiquark) constituents. The matrix elements for these decays are evaluated using the light quark–antiquark pair creation term of the free Dirac Hamiltonian for the constituent quark field, with explicit constructions for the charmonium state [Formula: see text], the open charm ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]) mesons and the pion states in terms of the constituent quark fields. The parameter for the charged [Formula: see text] mixing is observed to increase appreciably with increase in the magnetic field. This leads to dominant modifications to their masses, and hence the decay widths of charged [Formula: see text] as well as [Formula: see text] at large values of the magnetic field. The modifications of the masses and decay widths of the open and hidden charm mesons in the presence of strong magnetic fields should have observable consequences on the production of the open charm ([Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]) mesons as well as of the charmonium states resulting from noncentral ultra-relativistic heavy ion collision experiments.

Precise measurements of heavy-flavour hadrons down to very low pT represent the core of the physics program of the upgraded ALICE experiment in Run 3 [1]. These physics probes are characterised by a very small signal-to-background ratio requiring very large statistics of minimum-bias events. In Run 3, ALICE is expected to collect up to 13 nb−1 of lead–lead collisions, corresponding to about 1 × 1011 minimum-bias events. In order to analyse this unprecedented amount of data, which is about 100 times larger than the statistics collected in Run 1 and Run 2, the ALICE collaboration is developing a complex analysis framework that aims at maximising the processing speed and data volume reduction [2]. In this paper, the strategy of reconstruction, selection, skimming, and analysis of heavy-flavour events for Run 3 will be presented. Some preliminary results on the reconstruction of charm mesons and baryons will be shown and the prospects for future developments and optimisation discussed.

From the results obtained in publication [1] as well percentage between decay modes of exitated states of mesons, cited in reference book “Particle Data Group” became possible to evaluate the number of hadron final states on which the meson with hidden charm decay. In the paper is shown a rough estimate of final states number for hadron decays of mesons with hidden charm. The most statistically secured are the final states for ηс (1 S), 2 (π+π-) and π+π- K+K- for χс0 (1P) mesons.
