Results of 4 salmon hatcheries operation in Primorye Region are overviewed. Dynamics of chum salmon producers return to the rivers is presented for 4 last years. Recent tendency of shifting the peak of return from middle October to late September — early October is noted both for the rivers flowing into Peter the Great Bay (Barabashevka) and for the rivers of central Primorye (Verbnaya and Milogradovka). High percentage of producers aged 2+ was observed in the hatchery rivers in some years (32.9 % in the Barabashevka in 2019, 31.0 % in the Verbnaya in 2020, 37.8 % in the Bezymyanny in 2020). Interannual fluctuations in the number of producers return are possibly caused by malfunctions of hatcheries. A problem of water supply to the hatcheries is considered. Expediency of temperature control at hatcheries is shown. Data on release of chum salmon juveniles in the last decade are presented for each hatchery: the number of juveniles released, the average weight of juveniles, and the timing of release. Total release to the Barabashevka River was 119.29 . 106 juveniles, to the Ryazanovka — 114.24 . 106 juveniles, to the Poyma — 49.43 . 106 juveniles, to the Narva — 6.02 . 106 juveniles, to the Brusya — 3.11 . 106 juveniles, to the Verbnaya — 69.66 . 106 juveniles, to the Milogradovka — 1.00 . 106 juveniles, to the Lidovka — 1.71 . 106 juveniles, to the Bezymyanny — 69.45 . 106 juveniles, and 2.00 . 106 juveniles each to the Kievka and Margaritovka Rivers.

Koreans had lived on the southern territory of the modern Russian Far East before the arrival of Russian pathfinders in these lands. Therefore, they are an indigenous population of the modern Primorye region in the Russia, although, in the nineteenth century the number of Koreans was relatively small in the south of the Russian Far East. Russian Koreans supported the October Revolution and the fight of the Red Army against the old regime for several reasons. Bolsheviks put forward two principles of the new government—land for peasants and equality of peoples. These principles found a response in the broad mass of the Korean and Chinese populations in the Far East. After their victory, the Bolsheviks kept their promises. An area for ethnic Koreans, called Posiet, in the territory of the Primorye region was created, and Koreans resided in 28 districts in three areas of the modern Primorye region. A Korean Education College was created in Nikolsk Ussuriysk-city (modern Ussuriysk-city), as well as Korean language schools, a national theater, Korean-Chinese printers and so on. Korean families usually have many children, so the Korean population in Russia grew at a fast pace. This Korean population fell victim to the policies of deportation, which were applied to many of the non-Russian peoples of the Far East under Stalin. For many decades such deportations were denied, and then when admitted, the documentary materials surrounding them were unavailable. However, in the 1980s with the development of greater accessibility to archives held by the Russian Federation, the stories of such difficult historical moments are once again visible and reachable. This Research Note, in particular, explores the archival material that exists in the Gosudarstvennyi Arkhiv Rossiiskoi Federatsii (GARF, Государственный архив Российской Федерации, State Archive of the Russian Federation) relating to the deportation of Koreans of Primorye to Uzbekistan.

Background. Breast cancer (BC) refers to multifactorial polygenic diseases that occur as a result of the combined interaction of genetic and environmental factors. Glutathione-mediated detoxification is of key importance in ensuring the resistance of body cells to the damaging effect of xenobiotics.Objective: to study the prevalence of deletion polymorphisms of the GSTM1 and GSTT1 genes and to establish their influence on the formation of cancer risk in patients with BC in the Primorye region (Russia).Materials and methods. The study involved 176 women with BC, aged 23 to 79 years (mean age 48 ± 13 years) and 66 conditionally healthy individuals without cancer. The detection of deletion (null) genotypes of the GSTM1 and GSTT1 was carried out using multiplex PCR followed by analysis of the melting curves of the reaction products.Results. The frequency of GSTT1-0 genotype among BC patients was higher than in the control group (14.77 % versus 6.06 %), significantly exceeding the indicators in the control group by more than 2.5 times (p <0.1), indicating an association between the carriage of the GSTT1-0 genotype and the risk of developing BC. At the same time, the frequencies of the GSTM1-0 genotype in the study groups were comparable; no statistically significant association with the risk of developing BC was found.Conclusions. Homozygous deletion of GSTT1 (GSTT1-0) can potentially be considered as a low-penetrant risk factor for developing BC in the population of Primorye region.

The Partizansk and Razdolnaya coal basins of Primorye, Far East of Russia, contain diverse early angiosperm fossils (pollen, leaves, and fruits). In this paper, we revise the previous data on early angiosperms of this region and summarize the results of our latest research. Age of the plant-bearing deposits was clarified using isotopic U-Th-Pb LA-ICP-MS and U-Pb ID-TIMS methods. Age of the upper part of the Lipovtsy Formation is 118 ± 1.4 Ma, which corresponds to the late Aptian. The early Albian age (109 ± 1 Ma) is assigned to the upper part of the Frentsevka Formation. The diversification of angiosperms in the Early Cretaceous of Primorye region and their systematic affinity are analyzed. Early representatives of Laurales, Ranunculales, Platanaceae, and probable Cercidiphyllaceae are revealed. New combination Pandanites ahnertii (Krysht.) Golovn., comb. nov. is created, and new species Araliaephyllum vittenburgii Golovn. et Volynets, sp. nov. is described. Reconstructions of herbaceous angiosperms from autochthonous locality Bolshoy Kuvshin are proposed.
