The high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal is a major shortcoming of OFDM systems, which results in band radiation and distortion due to the nonlinearity of the high-power amplifier (H.P). To resolve the traditional OFDM high-PAPR issue, where the transmit sequence is designed to avoid similar data from being sent in the same order to reduce PAPR, there are numerous conventional ways for lowering the PAPR for OFDM system, such as selective mapping, tone reservation, block coding, filtering, clipping, and partial transmit sequence (PTS). This study proposes a new method called polygon number algorithm (PN) with conventional partial transmit sequence (C-PTS). This method (PN-PTS) processes the entered data before sending it, taking advantage of the number nonsimilarity according to the geometry of the number to prevent direct sending of similar data via PTS, and thus, this improved the level of PAPR rise in the proposed system. The amount of reduction that can be achieved in PAPR is up to 8 dB by different techniques. The best result obtained was the amount of reduction between the conventional method and the proposed method is 4.5683 where N = 64 . Besides this, there is no transmission of side information (SI), which improves transmission efficiency. Finally, this method is easy in the calculation process and the ciphering and deciphering of data, which adds a few calculations.

Recently, filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) has received increasing attention from researchers, owing to its merits and superior spectral efficiency. High peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) occurs in approximately all multicarrier systems, including FBMC/OQAM, and may cause bit-error-rate (BER) degradation if not appropriately handled. Conventional PAPR reduction methods for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), such as partial transmit sequence (PTS), selective mapping (SLM), and discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spreading, are ineffective in FBMC/OQAM because of the different structure of the symbols. This study proposes a novel method combining DFT spreading and PTS methods to reduce the PAPR of FBMC/OQAM systems with reasonable computational complexity. Numerical results obtained from various computer simulations show that the proposed method achieves a noticeable enhancement in the PAPR performance of the FBMC/OQAM signal compared to other existing methods without affecting the BER performance. Further, the computational complexity analysis and BER performance of the proposed method are presented in comparison to typical existing methods. From our computer simulations, the proposed method reduces the PAPR by approximately 32.8% compared to that of the conventional methods, and the BER performance is improved by 25% with a high-power amplifier effect.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a multi-carrier modulation technique which provides numerous advantages like high spectral efficiency, minimal interference, low multipath fading, etc. But Peak-to-average Power Ratio is a severe challenge in using such multiplexing technique as it introduces distortions in nonlinear devices. Various Peak-to-average Power Ratio reduction techniques have been investigated in the literature to improve the performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing systems. But, each of them suffers either from high complexity or degraded bit error rate or less spectral efficiency. For reducing Peak-to-average Power Ratio more effectively, a hybrid combination of Partial Transmit Sequence with Selective Mapping is detected to show better performance. In this paper, we have combined Goppa coding technique with this hybrid Selective Mapping and Partial Transmit Sequence for further improving the performance. Along with Peak-to-average Power Ratio reduction capability, the proposed technique also has inherent error control mechanism due to the use of coding. Based on the simulation results, we have concluded that the proposed technique provides good amount of Peak-to-average Power Ratio reduction than conventional techniques. The proposed technique is analyzed for different number of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing symbol candidates for Selective Mapping and different number of block divisions for Partial Transmit Sequence. Further, this technique is simulated for different number of subcarriers and modulation order and the simulation results are compared with each other. The proposed technique also shows better Bit error rate values for high Signal-to-Noise ratio.
