Purpose To solve the above problems and ensure the stability of the ad hoc network node topology in the process of wireless signal transmission, this paper aims to design a robust adaptive sliding film fault-tolerant controller under the nonlinear distortion of signal transmission in an amorphous flat air-to-ground wireless ad hoc network system. Design/methodology/approach This paper designs a robust adaptive sliding film fault-tolerant controller under the nonlinear distortion of signal transmission in an amorphous flat air-to-ground wireless ad hoc network system. Findings The simulation results show that the amorphous flat wireless self-organizing network system has good nonlinear distortion fault-tolerant correction ability under the feedback control of the designed controller, and the system has the asymptotically stable convergence ability; the test results show: the node topology of the self-organizing network structural stability is significantly improved, which provides a foundation for the subsequent realization of long-distance transmission of ad hoc network nodes. Research limitations/implications Because of the chosen research approach, the research results may lack generalizability. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the proposed propositions further. Originality/value The controller can extract the fault information caused by nonlinear distortion in the wireless signal transmission process, and at the same time, its feedback matrix K can gradually converge the generated wireless signal error to zero, to realize the stable transmission of the wireless signal.

Passive intermodulation (PIM) generated from antennas is a nonlinear distortion phenomenon and causes serious problems to communication quality. Traditional radio frequency (RF) solutions focus on testing the final product to find the PIM source. However, it cannot solve the stability of PIM after the antenna is vibrated. This paper introduces a new method to improve the stability of PIM in the design phase. By studying the mechanism of PIM generation, a simulation method is proposed in this paper by applying mechanical finite element simulation and simulating the structural design of the device under test. Then, the stress at the PIM source is reduced, thereby the PIM stability of the product is improved. This paper adopts this method by studying a typical product, finding the root cause that affects the product PIM magnitude and stability, and optimizing its design. The PIM value of the new scheme is stable by making a prototype and testing. The method provided in this article can effectively improve product development efficiency and assist designers in avoiding the risks of PIM before the product’s manufacturing.

The existing adaptive echo cancellation based howling (typically in hearing aids) removal methods have several drawbacks such as insufficient attenuation of the howling component, slow response and nonlinear distortion. To solve these problems, we propose a segmented notch filtering based scheme. Specifically, firstly, it is proved that the attenuation value can reach −330 dB at any detected howling frequency; secondly, the filter coefficients can be readily calculated by a closed-form formula, yielding a fast response to the sudden howling accident; thirdly, the closed-form formula of this filter is theoretically an even function, indicating that this filter possesses a linear transfer characteristic. In combination with proper segmentation and precisely removing these transient samples arising from FIR (Finite Impulsive Response) filtering, nonlinear distortion can be entirely avoided. Experimental results show that our proposed scheme can not only accurately estimate the howling frequency, but can also completely remove it, which yields a high-quality output waveform with a recovery SNR of about 22 dB. Therefore, the proposed segmented notching based scheme possesses vast potential for hearing aid development and other relevant applications.

Abstract One of the fundamental improvements of the measurement standard of frequency deviation of frequency-modulated oscillations was the replacement of analog frequency-modulated generators used in DETU 09-03-95 with digital ones based on the principle of direct digital synthesis (DDS) and its next version of Trueform technology. These generators have wider ranges of frequency deviation and modulation frequencies than analog ones, but nonlinear distortion laws of the frequency modulation are not standardized. The subject of the article is the development of methods and research of these generators and frequency-modulated signals generated by them for nonlinear distortions, accompanying amplitude modulation, frequency noise. Three methods were used in the study: direct measurement; “combination frequencies” and “frequency shift”. The experiment was performed using several measurement methods, which allowed to estimate very small values of nonlinear distortion. Methods were developed and experimental estimations of concomitant amplitude modulation of DDS-generators (in frequency modulation mode), as well as their frequency noise level, were performed. An experimental evaluation of the capabilities of the analog-digital demodulator of the R&S FSL6 spectrum analyzer with the K7 option was performed, its high linearity was shown, its capabilities with respect to the frequency ranges of carrier oscillations and frequency deviation were evaluated. The research results provide a basis for the method of calibration of DDS-generators and demodulator of spectrum analyzers with the K7 option in those ranges where their parameters are not normalized (at direct current up to 8 MHz and F up to 500 kHz).
