The article examines the factors associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, affecting intimate life in long-term couples. Research by sexologists, psychologists, psychotherapists, reproductologists, combining versatile manifestations of self-esteem and relationships in the intimate sphere demonstrate a fairly harmonious picture of phenomena associated with psychological, mental and physiological needs and capabilities of both individuals and macrosocial formations. The dependence of manifestations of sexuality on the intensity of the infectious situation and quarantine policy is noted. Practical approaches are proposed to stabilize and improve intimate behavior in married couples living in limited conditions in the presence of other family members, aimed at reducing the risk of depression and sexual dysfunction in self-restraint conditions in the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, after the winter of 2020-2021, accompanied by a progressive decrease in the level of morbidity and mortality, the number of people with a rational attitude to what is happening is growing, who are actively adapting within the family, as well as in society.

Foreign-born Latino/a immigrants currently make up 12.9% of the total U.S. population. Latino/a immigrants continue to be exposed to widespread health and mental health care disparities. Scholarship focused on the needs of Latino/a immigrants continues to be characterized by multiple gaps. Latino/a immigrants and their families, particularly those with low family annual incomes, are exposed to multiple types of immigration-related stress. However, little is known about how immigration-related stress impacts couples. The objective of this investigation was to examine the interrelationship among acculturation and immigration-related stress as reported by a group of Latino/a immigrant parents who participated in a cultural adaptation parenting study. Data were provided by 78 two-parent families. The statistical approach consisted of latent growth curve analyses to examine rates of change over time. Findings indicated a potential protective role of biculturalism among Latino/a immigrant couples. Research, clinical, and policy implications are discussed.

ObjectiveThis research team uses complexity science to gain a deeper understanding of daily dynamics of intimate partner violence (IPV). This report describes research methods for gathering daily information about patterns of partner violence and alcohol use from couples in near-real time, and addresses recruitment and retention, adherence to study protocol, data validity, and participant safety.MethodsResearchers enrolled 20 heterosexual couples with violent relationships from a primary healthcare center. Every day for 8 weeks, participants telephoned an interactive voice response (IVR) system and responded to 33 survey questions assessing violence, alcohol use, and household environment. They also completed baseline and end-of-study surveys.ResultsOf 20 enrolled couples, 15 completed the study, providing 90% adherence to daily reporting. Participants reported verbal aggression on an average of 11–13 days over 8 weeks, and physical abuse on an average of 2–4 days. Alcohol use was modest and infrequent. Women and men differed in their reports of women's physical aggression. No reports of physical violence were correlated with social desirability.ConclusionsWe demonstrated the feasibility of enrolling and engaging both women and men in daily longitudinal research about partner violence and described advantages of IVR in daily longitudinal research.
