Different epidemiological compartmental models have been presented to predict the transmission dynamics of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). In this study, we have proposed a fuzzy rule-based Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Recovered-Death ([Formula: see text]) compartmental model considering a new dynamic transmission possibility variable as a function of time and three different fuzzy linguistic intervention variables to delineate the intervention and transmission heterogeneity on SARS-CoV-2 viral infection. We have analyzed the datasets of active cases and total death cases of China and Bangladesh. Using our model, we have predicted active cases and total death cases for China and Bangladesh. We further presented the correspondence of different intervention measures in relaxing the transmission possibility. The proposed model delineates the correspondence between the intervention measures as fuzzy subsets and the predicted active cases and total death cases. The prediction made by our system fitted the collected dataset very well while considering different fuzzy intervention measures. The integration of fuzzy logic in the classical compartmental model also produces more realistic results as it generates a dynamic transmission possibility variable. The proposed model could be used to control the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 as it deals with the intervention and transmission heterogeneity on SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics.

Linguistics is a branch of science that can maneuver to solve various problems. Linguistics began to succeed in canceling the predicate given to laypeople, namely as a linguistic science. Linguistics can even be a solution for various other disciplines, including fiscal and monetary policy issues. Fiscal and monetary policies that require analysis of the past, present, and future phenomena can be answered immediately with a linguistic analysis knife. Critical discourse analysis is confidently taking action as a solution to this problem. The holistic interpretative approach used in this study tries to analyze the text by relating and relevant to the context and then abstracting it into a complete picture. This study succeeded in finding that critical discourse analysis can play a role in 3 things related to fiscal and monetary policy, namely: (1) text analysis is an analysis of linguistic elements in sentence construction used in formulating policies, (2) analysis of discourse practice is a background analysis behind the decision-makers who formulate policies and other situations and conditions behind the birth of business economic policies, and (3) analysis of socio-cultural and political is an analysis that is identifying the changes that occur as a result of these policies. This proves the effectiveness of Linguistics in studying fiscal and monetary policy issues.

What words we use, and what meanings they have, is important. We shouldn’t use slurs; we should use ‘rape’ to include spousal rape (for centuries we didn’t); we should have a word which picks out the sexual harassment suffered by people in the workplace and elsewhere (for centuries we didn’t). Sometimes we need to change the word-meaning pairs in circulation, either by getting rid of the pair completely (slurs), changing the meaning (as we did with ‘rape’), or adding brand new word-meaning pairs (as with ‘sexual harassment’). A problem, though, is how to do this. One might worry that any attempt to change language in this way will lead to widespread miscommunication and confusion. I argue that this is indeed so, but that’s a feature, not a bug, of attempting to change word-meaning pairs. The miscommunications and confusion such changes cause can lead us, via a process I call transformative communicative disruption, to reflect on our language and its use, and this can further, rather than hinder, our goal of improving language.

Abstract This article explores a specific linguistic intervention ("mild to wild”) that occurs in online communication on gay internet hook up sites. It argues that despite supposed knowledge as to what “mild to wild” means, we must look at this linguistic intervention within specific socio-cultural contexts. Without context, the actual uses and meanings of “mild to wild” might be misunderstood while our knowledge of sexual communities of practice risks falling squarely into stereotypes. For this community of practice, “mild to wild” creates a linguistic opportunity for men interested in having sex with other men to be able to define their desires and further explicate how their sexual interaction will take place while also negotiating expectations and assumptions of male-male sex within increasingly homonormative strictures. Data was gathered from over four years of ethnographic research and is presented from a cultural and anthropological linguistics perspective. The phrase “mild to wild” is used by these men in order to: (1) contest supposed concrete categorizations of sexuality and desire; (2) to create highly contextual intimacies and organizations of desire through online-linguistic interaction; and (3) to alleviate detrimental social effects attached to specific unsafe and variant sex practices. The author argues that this community of practice is an example of how new socialities develop within homonormativities designed to control queer sex and desire.

ABSTRACTIn February 2016 the French spelling reform of 1990, which introduced changes to approximately 2,000 words, became the object of discussion online, after it was announced that the new spellings would be included in textbooks from September. Analysing a corpus of tweets, containing key terms from the online discussion, JeSuisCirconflexe; ognon and réforme orthographe, this study gives an insight into the reactions to this governmental linguistic intervention, the recurring themes in their discourse and how this can be interpreted as prescriptive or purist behaviour. Although previous studies have extensively analysed reactions to the 1996 spelling reform in Germany, little research has considered online lay-reactions to the French reform. Given observations that online interactions differ in many ways to equivalent offline interactions, this study can form a point of contrast to previous studies conducted in offline contexts, thereby enriching the existing literature in this field. It is also often claimed that France is a country in which linguistic purism is deeply entrenched; this article will seek further evidence for these claims.

The study examines the process of foreign language learning. The aim was to investigate dynamics and stability of the variable tolerance of ambiguity in the process of learning a foreign language through the means of specifically designed linguistic intervention program. The investigation aimed to find out the impact of the intervention called The Linguistic Intervention Program in the process of foreign language learning and tolerance of ambiguity in the foreign language performance. Moreover, the purpose was to investigate long-lasting changes in the selected periods, after one year. The focus was put on the ability to create a cognitive structure, especially the ability to achieve cognitive structuration. The linguistic intervention program represented a method of active social learning, and autonomous learning.The approaches we used were the following: relaxation, cooperative techniques, communication techniques, and the techniques aimed at social perception and intercultural communication in a foreign language. The linguistic intervention program was based on the natural approach of foreign language acquisition. The research method called the scale of the ability to achieve cognitive structure AACS was used on the sample of 256 college students enrolled for the foreign languages teaching programs. The results showed unique findings in the process of dynamics and stability of the examined variable, tolerance of ambiguity through the means of the linguistic intervention. They showed statistically significant higher score in AACS and statistically significant score in long-lasting changes in time. AACS appeared to be a stabile characteristic in the foreign language learning.
