The promotion of a library’s resources often relies on using its physical space with physical displays. With COVID-19, many libraries are either not physically open or their services have been modified where there are limitations with who or how many people are allowed to enter their buildings. Promoting areas in the collection may take on creative and new methods during the pandemic, including the use of virtual displays or online resource guides. Creating virtual displays can also become an opportunity to support and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the library and campus wide.

A diagnosis of immunodeficiency can be challenging for families as they navigate the emotional impact of this diagnosis, as well the potential financial burden of treatment. As is the case with many rare diseases, there existed a paucity of information for families looking for appropriate resources related to their diagnosis. The Primary Immunodeficiency Social Work Network was established in 2011 by Immunodeficiency Canada to develop a network of social workers across Canada who work with patients diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency. This network has had a focus on support programs, education, and research. Resource guides were created by the network with the goal of providing comprehensive support and information on resources available for families and individuals affected by primary immunodeficiency in each province as well as those available nationally.

This study is an examination of the databases, websites, journals, and monograph titles most frequently included in the library resource guides of 65 well-regarded research institutions. Through an analysis of library resource guides, this study enumerates the resources most frequently recommended to the physics community for study and research. Open access resources, such as arXiv, SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS), and INSPIRE, are among the most included titles. Notably, websites of professional organizations and governmental agencies are also frequently named. The study is meant to assist librarians in developing and maintaining collections to recommend to the physics community.
