The present study aims to evaluate the present status of plant species diversity in the road dividers of Dhaka city. A total of 90 plant species under 73 genera and 42 families have been recorded from the road dividers of Dhaka city. Analysis showed that among the 90 species, the most abundant plant species in the road divider are Mimusops elengi (Bakul) Polyalthia longifolia (Debdaru), Leucaena leucocephala (Epil-epil), Tabernaemontana divaricata (Togor) and Swietenia mahagoni (Mahagoni). In case of dominant analysis based important value index showed that Mimusops elengi is the top dominant plant species followed by Polyalthia longifolia, Leucaena leucocephala, Tabernaemontana divaricata and Swietenia mahagoni respectively. These plant species have also showed the higher relative density, relative frequency and relative abundance. The percentage of native and exotic species was found here 44% and 56%, respectively. Most abundant and dominant plant species in the road dividers are exotics including Mimusops elengi,Polyalthia longifolia, Leucaena leucocephala and Swietenia mahagoni. Species diversity value was found higher in Hatirjeel site whereas lowest in Baridhara- Badda site. A number of recommendations are made based on the present results for the management of plant species diversity in the road dividers of Dhaka city. Some recommended native plant species for plantation according to the width and soil depth in the road dividers are Cassia fistula, Holarrhena pubescens, Firmiana colorata, Shorea robusta, Miliusa valutina, Butea monosperma, Alstonia scholaris, Toona ciliata, Ficus racemosa, Bombax ceiba, Woodfordia fruticosa, Melastoma malabathricum, Sterculia villosa, Grewia microcos, Syzygium cumini, Tabernaemontana divaricata, Ixora coccinea, Terminalia bellirica, Terminalia arjuna and also native seasonal flowers. Nanoparticles are particles of any shape with size ranging from 10 to 100 nm. Synthesis of metal nanoparticle is a single step process, which is inexpensive and eco-friendly method. Metals such as silver, zinc and copper can be used for the production of nanoparticles. Tabernaemontana divericata have been reported to exhibit antimicrobial, antioxidant, antitumor and analgesic effect. It's used for wound healing and treatment of various diseases like skin diseases, aches, ascaris, scabies eye diseases and pain. Nanoparticles of silver, zinc and copper were biosynthesised from the stem extract of Tabarnaemontana divaricata. Characterization studies were carried out using UV spectrophotometer, FTIR & SEM analysis. The nanoparticle were tested for it potential antibacterial activities. Among the three, AgNPs nanoparticle exhibited more antimicrobial activity than the CuNPs, and ZnNPs. The biomolecules in T. divericata stem extract with the potential to reduce and cap the bio reduced AgNPs were assessed with FTIR spectral measurements.

Several species belonging to the genus Tabernaemontana have been well researched and utilized for their wide-ranging biological activities. A few of the most prominent species include Tabernaemontana divaricata, Tabernaemontana catharinensis, Tabernaemontana crassa, and Tabernaemontana elegans. These species and many others within the genus often display pharmacological importance, which is habitually related to their chemical constituents. The secondary metabolites within the genus have demonstrated huge medicinal potential for the treatment of infections, pain, injuries, and various diseases. Regardless of the indispensable reports and properties displayed by Tabernaemontana spp., there remains a wide variety of plants that are yet to be considered or examined. Thus, an additional inclusive study on species within this genus is essential. The current review aimed to extensively analyze, collate, and describe an updated report of the current literature related to the major alkaloidal components and biological activities of species within the genus Tabernaemontana.
