Genital tuberculosis (TB) in women is a chronic disease with low-grade symptoms. Genital tract tuberculosis is usually secondary to extragenital TB. The fallopian tubes are most commonly affected, and along with endometrial involvement, it causes infertility in such patients. Involvement of the cervix and the vulva is very rare. We present one such rare case of vulvar tuberculosis presented with a large ulcer diagnosed on histopathology and treated with antitubercular chemotherapy.

We report a case of Behçet’s disease in a 9-year-old boy from Greece, presenting with a history of recurrent ulceration of the oral cavity. Following inspection of the oral cavity, which revealed lesions on both the upper and lower labial mucosa, as well as a large ulcer on the apex of the tongue, the diagnosis of Behçet’s disease was immediately suspected. The diagnosis was confirmed using the International Criteria for Behçet’s Disease. Nevertheless, as multiple diseases can cause recurrent oral aphthosis, an extensive differential diagnosis was made, and pertinent tests were undertaken to exclude other causes of oral ulceration. The approach to a patient with Behçet’s disease, as well as its various clinical presentations and complications, is discussed.

Abstract We report on the case of a 40-year-old male who was admitted to the clinic with a large ulcer on his left buttock, 3 days after an intramuscular benzathine penicillin injection. The patient was diagnosed with Nicolau syndrome, a rare vascular complication in which a lesion develops after intramuscular injection. Symptoms are intense pain at the injection site, erythema, and livedoid dermatitis, which leads to necrosis of skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle tissue. It was described by Nicolau after intramuscular injections of bismuth salt for syphillis therapy. Nicolau syndrome is rare, but its symptoms are devastating and healthcare professionals must be aware of this clinical entity, since intramuscular injections are common procedures for administration of drugs.

Abstract Difficult ulcers have differing aetiologies calling for varying strategies. For long, physiatrists have been treating diabetic foot and decubitus ulcers with great success. The “vacuum assisted therapy” (VAC) technique is proven to alter the local milieu to facilitate wound healing. A known case of filariasis for last 14-15 years, presented with elephantiasis of left leg with a large ulcer. The financial status of the patient prevented usage of the commercial VAC machine and so “in-house” VAC technique innovations were used at a fractional cost. She was successfully treated using the VAC technique and spontaneous complete healing was achieved in 8 weeks and resulted in early rehabilitation. It was very cost-effective.

Riga-Fede disease is a rare, benign disorder characterized by reactive ulceration of the oral mucosa associated with repetitive dental traumatism. It was first described in children with neurologic disorders and is very rare in adults. This case report describes the occurrence of a large ulcer of the tongue, resembling squamous cell carcinoma, in an adult with hemiparesis. The lesion cleared after neurologic recovery. This case highlights the importance of considering this disorder in the differential diagnosis of oral mucosal ulcerations.
