Video event detection and annotation work is an important content of video analysis and the basis of video content retrieval. Basketball is one of the most popular types of sports. Event detection and labeling of basketball videos can help viewers quickly locate events of interest and meet retrieval needs. This paper studies the application of anisotropic diffusion in video image smoothing, denoising, and enhancement. An improved form of anisotropic diffusion that can be used for video image enhancement is analyzed. This paper studies the anisotropic diffusion method for coherent speckle noise removal and proposes a video image denoising method that combines anisotropic diffusion and stationary wavelet transform. This paper proposes an anisotropic diffusion method based on visual characteristics, which adds a factor of video image detail while smoothing, and improves the visual effect of diffusion. This article discusses how to apply anisotropic diffusion methods and ideas to video image segmentation. We introduced the classic watershed segmentation algorithm and used forward-backward diffusion to process video images to reduce oversegmentation, introduced the active contour model and its improved GVF Snake, and analyzed the idea of how to use anisotropic diffusion and improve the GVF Snake model to get a new GGVF Snake model. In the study of basketball segmentation of close-up shots, we propose an improved Hough transform method based on a variable direction filter, which can effectively extract the center and radius of the basketball. The algorithm has good robustness to basketball partial occlusion and motion blur. In the basketball segmentation research of the perspective shot, the commonly used object segmentation method based on the change area detection is very sensitive to noise and requires the object not to move too fast. In order to correct the basketball segmentation deviation caused by the video noise and the fast basketball movement, we make corrections based on the peak characteristics of the edge gradient. At the same time, the internal and external energy calculation methods of the traditional active contour model are improved, and the judgment standard of the regional optimal solution and segmentation validity is further established. In the basketball tracking research, an improved block matching method is proposed. On the one hand, in order to overcome the influence of basketball’s own rotation, this article establishes a matching criterion that has nothing to do with the location of the area. On the other hand, this article improves the diamond motion search path based on the basketball’s motion correlation and center offset characteristics to reduce the number of searches and improve the tracking speed.

Abstract Underwater vision research is the foundation of marine-related disciplines. The target contour extraction is of great significance to target tracking and visual information mining. Aiming at the problem that conventional active contour models cannot effectively extract the contours of salient targets in underwater images, we propose a dual-fusion active contour model with semantic information. First, the saliency images are introduced as semantic information, and extract salient target contours by fusing Chan–Vese and local binary fitting models. Then, the original underwater images are used to supplement the missing contour information by using the local image fitting. Compared with state-of-the-art contour extraction methods, our dual-fusion active contour model can effectively filter out background information and accurately extract salient target contours.

Abstract Healthcare infrastructure relies on technology-driven solutions such as CAD systems for improving the overall efficiency of its procedures and processes. Image segmentation is one of the most critical phases for such systems in view of the fact that accuracy of this phase determines the efficacy of the later phases, to a large extent. Extensive research is underway to develop segmentation techniques that can achieve highest accuracy with some suggestions directed towards an information fusion based approach within the machine learning paradigm. This research paper proposes a fused second-order statistical image feature framework for Region of Interest delineation. It is a feature fusion-based segmentation approach (ACM-FT) that fuses texture driven feature maps from GLCM , GLRLM and Gabor filters. The proposed approach is then compared with Active Contour Model with classical edge detection method (ACM-ED) and Active Contour Model without edges (ACM-WE) using Overlap Index (OI) and Jackard’s Similarity Co-efficient (JSI). The proposed approach achieves an average accuracy of 92.17% and 93.19% for JSI and OI, respectively, demonstrating significant improvements.

The coastline is located at the junction of the sea and the land, and it is essential for ecological environment. However, most existing methods can extract the coastline with obvious boundaries and cannot obtain the general coastline, including an intertidal zone and salt field. Accordingly, a new general coastline extraction method is proposed on the basis of an improved active contour model to extract the general coastline from remote sensing images. An improved active contour model was proposed to extract the water area by introducing aiming energy of water from the Modified Normalized Difference Water Index information. Then, mathematical morphology was applied to obtain the seawater area based on the extracted water area. Finally, the coastline was refined and generated by the improved active contour model in a buffer zone of the seawater boundary. Landsat images over Jiaozhou Bay in Shandong Province, China, from 1990 to 2018 were used to extract the general coastline. Results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively extract the general coastline, which is close to the reference coastline. The length of the coastline decreased from 234.64 km in 1990 to 221.21 km in 2000. This value significantly increased to 255.05 km from 2000 to 2010. The main reason is that Hongdao Island merged with the mainland due to reclamation. The length of the coastline slightly decreased by approximately 12 km from 2010 to 2018 due to environmental protection measures and the reclamation prohibition.
