This paper deals with multipath channel estimation and equalization in LoRa. It is suggested to take advantage of the cyclic property of the symbols in the LoRa frame preamble to obtain an interference-free version of the symbols in the frequency domain. Then, estimation methods used in multicarrier systems can be applied, such as the least square (LS), and the minimum mean square error (MMSE) estimators. It is shown that the cyclic property in LoRa is inherently independent of the length of the channel, making these estimation techniques robust to any frequency-selective channel. In addition the frequency domain zero-forcing (ZF) equalizer is used, and an original phase equalizer is introduced, taking advantage of the constant modulus property of LoRa symbols in the frequency domain. The performance of the investigated estimators and equalizers is shown through simulations, and applications to the presented results are further discussed.

The phenomena of unknown gain or offset on communication systems and modern storages such as optical data storage and non-volatile memory (flash) becomes a serious problem. This problem can be handled by Pearson distance applied to the detector because it offers immunity to gain and offset mismatch. This distance can only be used for a specific set of codewords, called Pearson codes. An interesting example of Pearson code can be found in T-constrained code class. In this paper, we present binary 2-constrained codes with cyclic property. The construction of this code is adopted from cyclic codes, but it cannot be considered as cyclic codes.

We present a definition for second-order freeness in the quaternionic case. We demonstrate that this definition on a second-order probability space is asymptotically satisfied by independent symplectically invariant quaternionic matrices. This definition is different from the natural definition for complex and real second-order probability spaces, those motivated by the asymptotic behavior of unitarily invariant and orthogonally invariant random matrices respectively. Most notably, because the quaternionic trace does not have the cyclic property of a trace over a commutative field, the asymmetries which appear in the multi-matrix context result in an asymmetric contribution from the terms which appear symmetrically in the complex and real cases.

Novel 3D island-chain structured V2O5/graphene/MWCNT hybrid aerogels are synthesized by a sol–gel method which exhibit enhanced specific capacitance (504 F g−1), large energy density (70 W h kg−1) and outstanding cyclic property (82.9% retention after 32 500 cycles).
