Cutis verticis gyrata (CVG) is a rare skin disorder characterised by thick skin folds and grooves, resembling the gyri and sulci of the cerebral cortex. It can be classified as primary essential, primary non-essential and secondary CVG. The rarity of the condition poses a challenge in the diagnosis and ultimately requires good communication between the clinician and the dermatopathologist for diagnosis. Many names have been given to the condition, including Robert-Unna syndrome, cutis verticis plicata, paquidemia verticis gyrata, cutis sulcata, cutis striata or “bulldog” scalp syndrome. To date, the treatment is still limited to plastic surgeons with excision of the folds, scalp reduction and reconstruction. In this article, we are sharing a rare case and the surgical management of a middle age gentleman with cutis verticis gyrata secondary to cerebral intradermal nevus (CIN) over his occipital scalp.

Background: The various lesions of the nose, paranasal sinuses and nasopharynx were subjected to histopathological evaluation over a period of 5 years (2010 to 2015) at the Department of Pathology, in a rural based hospital. Total 84 specimens were studied over the time of 5 years. Methodology: The formalin fixed specimens were received with complete clinical and radiological features. Routine gross examination and required number of sections were taken and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Result: In the study, 84 cases were of Inflammatory and Non neoplastic lesions. Nasal polyps were the most common lesions with 77 (91.67%) cases. Among the all Nasal polyps, 77 cases, 20 (25.97%) cases were of Allergic polyp, 50 (64.93%) cases were of inflammatory polyp, while 7 (9.09%) cases were of Antrochoanal polyp. 2 cases (2.38%) each of Sinusitis and Intradermal naevus. Rhinosporidiosis, Mucocele and Nasolabial cyst comprised of 1 (0.77%) case each respectively. Conclusion: In our study, most common lesions were Nasal Polyps. Most of the cases were presented in 2ndand3rddecade of life with Male preponderance. Nasal obstruction was the most common clinical presentation in the present study.

AbstractObjective:This study aimed to describe the results of a retrospective analysis of a specific cohort of patients with benign lip lesions encountered in the last 15 years in the School of Medicine at Karadeniz Technical University.Method:A total of 312 patients were managed for lip lesions during the period 2000–2014. Data from 160 samples of benign lip biopsies were retrieved from the pathology laboratory records. Results:The study group included 20 different histopathological types of lesions, with mucocele being the most frequent lesion (43.13 per cent). The other frequent lesions were chronic inflammatory infiltrate (11.25 per cent), intradermal naevus (5.63 per cent), pyogenic granuloma (5.63 per cent), fibroma (5 per cent) and papilloma (5 per cent). Mucocele was significantly more common in younger patients (p < 0.001).Conclusion:Knowledge of the epidemiology and distribution of oral mucosal lesions is essential to promote early diagnosis and treatment. Further epidemiological studies exploring the causal relationships and risk factors for lip lesions are necessary for a better understanding of lip diseases.
