Aim of our study. To evaluate the difference between sensory detection threshold reactions of teeth under orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances, determined by electrical and thermal pulp testing. Material and methods. After a selection based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 51 patients with a mean age of 19,3+/- 3,6 years old who presented to the Center for Integrated Dental Medicine of the Faculty of Dental Medicine from Târgu Mureș for orthodontic treatment had been included in this study. The reactions to thermal and electrical pulp testing were measured at baseline, after 8 weeks of treatment and during the contention period. Results. The application of orthodontic force immediately increased the response threshold which peaked after 8 weeks. Conclusions. Based on these results we conclude that dental specialists should interpret with caution the results of electric pulp testing in teeth under orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances as the cold tests with ethyl chloride are more reliable.

This paper presents a group persistent assignment method in contention slots for DOCSIS standard. Our model is a numerical method which can separate each user access to the arbitrary contention slot with independent persistent value. Each user can be collected into a group access. Then we can assign different persistent value to access slots in a frame. The occasion that many users access in same slot is reduced. In this paper, we also calculate the value of successful probability and average successful number in each contention period.

In this paper the IEEE 802.16 standard based Mobile WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) system is investigated for the purpose of Quality of Service provisioning. As a potential solution, scheduling algorithms have been taken into major concern. Within the pool of scheduling algorithms and for the purpose Contention based bandwidth request resolution, the Modified Contention Based BW Resolution algorithm (MCB-BWR-Scheme) is proposed. Supported by the fact that the standard does not emphasize a specific scheduling algorithm for contention period based services, therefore, the choice of the scheduling algorithm for the WiMAX systems is very important. There are several scheduling algorithms for WiMAX in the literature, however, studies show that an efficient, fair and robust scheduling algorithm for WiMAX systems is still an open research area and hence a well thought out algorithm will be of great contribution to the area under investigation. Results from the OPNET Modeler simulation program show that the adjusted algorithm works well with delay and throughput constraints. It is also in consistent with the quality of service demands of the video and voice traffic.
