The objective of this research is to explain the types of discrimination shown by the main character in her society and to identify the effects that main character experienced after being discriminated. This research used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the movie. The subject of this paper was movie Crazy Rich Asians by Jon M Chu. The data analysis was conducted using U.S.  Equal Employment Opportunity Commission theory reference. By the process of the analysis, it was that harassment, national origin discrimination, race/color discrimination, and religious discrimination were experienced by the main character. Not only that, the researchers found four types of effects experienced by a person after being discriminated, which are marginalization, disempowerment, low self-esteem and self-identity, and aggression or criminality.

ABSTRACT Rhodopsins are photoreceptive membrane proteins consisting of a common heptahelical transmembrane architecture that contains a retinal chromophore. Rhodopsin was first discovered in the animal retina in 1876, but a different type of rhodopsin, bacteriorhodopsin, was reported to be present in the cell membrane of an extreme halophilic archaeon, Halobacterium salinarum, 95 years later. Although these findings were made by physiological observation of pigmented tissue and cell bodies, recent progress in genomic and metagenomic analyses has revealed that there are more than 10,000 microbial rhodopsins and 9000 animal rhodopsins with large diversity and tremendous new functionality. In this Cell Science at a Glance article and accompanying poster, we provide an overview of the diversity of functions, structures, color discrimination mechanisms and optogenetic applications of these two rhodopsin families, and will also highlight the third distinctive rhodopsin family, heliorhodopsin.

Light quality is a key parameter of building design, which is mainly defined by the perceived luminance and the color rendering. Nowadays, there is a wide variety of metrics that do not converge in the color rendition evaluation of current light sources. The obsolescence of the Color Rendering Index promoted the rise of new procedures to provide an accurate evaluation. However, the score provided by most of these metrics does not distinguish between color deviation and hue discrimination, giving a single value to assess the overall color perception allowed by a light source. In this context, a new study is proposed, based on the evaluation of seven different light sources, comparing the results of the most recent color rendering metrics and those observed using a Farnsworth–Munsell trial carried out with 115 participants. The results obtained show that there is a notable divergence between color rendition and hue discrimination, although there is a clear proportionality between both. Moreover, a clear relationship is observed between color discrimination and the correlative color temperature of light sources, providing a better hue distinction with cool light sources, even though the psychological preferences of the participants do not coincide with the optimal scenario for color discrimination.

The quality of building electric lighting systems can be assessed using color rendition metrics. However, color rendition metrics are limited in quantifying tunable solid-state light sources, since tunable lighting systems can generate a vast number of different white light spectra, providing flexibility in terms of color quality and energy efficiency. Previous research suggests that color rendition is multi-dimensional in nature, and it cannot be simplified to a single number. Color shifts under a test light source in comparison to a reference illuminant, changes in color gamut, and color discrimination are important dimensions of the quality of electric light sources, which are not captured by a single-numbered metric. To address the challenges in color rendition characterization of modern solid-state light sources, the development of a multi-dimensional color rendition space is proposed. The proposed continuous measure can quantify the change in color rendition ability of tunable solid-state light devices with caveats. Future work, discretization of the continuous color rendition space, will be carried out to address the shortcomings of a continuous three-dimensional space.

In this study, the effects of four different digitally generated colored filters on the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test (100-hue test) are analyzed by red-green color-vision deficient (CVD) observers. We digitally simulate the colored filters based on the spectral transmittance of four colored filters, which have been used previously. Five red-green CVD observers are subjected to the 100-hue test on a monitor under nine filter conditions, which comprise one condition without filter and eight conditions with filters. The results suggest that a colored filter that transmits long wavelengths and absorbs medium wavelengths may improve the color discrimination performance of protans and deutans.
