Abstract We discuss the perturbative stability of an AdS 3 non-supersymmetric solution of the type-IIB supergravity, whose internal geometry is given by the direct product of a round three-sphere and two λ-deformed factors based on the coset CFTs SU(2)/U(1) and SL(2, ℝ)/SO(1,1). This solution admits a two-dimensional parametric space spanned by the inverse radius of the AdS 3 and the deformation parameter λ. Reality of the background imposes restrictions on the values of these parameters. Further limitations on the values of the inverse radius and the parameter λ arise after requiring the stability of the solution. Our approach relies on the study of scalar perturbations around the AdS 3 vacuum of a three-dimensional effective theory. This reveals the existence of a region in the parametric space where the Breitenlohner-Freedman bound is not violated.

Abstract In this paper we prove that the four-dimensional hyperbolic supersymmetric black holes can be unstable in the canonical ensemble. To this end, we work with an infinite class of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 supergravity theories interpolating between all the single dilaton truncations of the SO(8) gauged $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 8 supergravity. Within these models, we study electrically charged solutions of two different kinds: supersymmetric hairy and extremal non-supersymmetric Reissner-Nordström black holes. We consider these solutions within the same canonical ensemble and show that, for suitable choices of the parameters defining the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 model, the supersymmetric solution features a higher free energy than the non-supersymmetric one. In the absence of additional selection rules, this would imply an instability of the supersymmetric configuration, hinting towards a possible supersymmetry breaking mechanism.

Abstract We investigate the existence of solutions with 16 supersymmetries to Type IIB supergravity on a spacetime of the form AdS2× S5× S1 warped over a two-dimensional Riemann surface Σ. The existence of the Lie superalgebra SU(1, 1|4) ⊂ PSU(2, 2|4), whose maximal bosonic subalgebra is SO(1, 2)⊕SO(6)⊕SO(2), motivates the search for half-BPS solutions with this isometry that are asymptotic to AdS5×S5. We reduce the BPS equations to the Ansatz for the bosonic fields and supersymmetry generators compatible with these symmetries, then show that the only non-trivial solution is the maximally supersymmetric solution AdS5× S5. We argue that this implies that no solutions exist for fully back-reacted D7 probe or D7/D3 intersecting branes whose near-horizon limit is of the form AdS2× S5× S1× Σ.

It has recently been conjectured that string theory does not admit de Sitter critical points. This note points out that in several cases, including KKLT or racetrack models, this statement is equivalent to the absence of supersymmetric Minkowski or AdS solutions. This equivalence arises from establishing the positivity of the potential in a large-radius limit, requiring a turnover of the potential before reaching an AdS vacuum. For example, this conjecture is incompatible with the simplest 1-modulus KKLT AdS supersymmetric solution.

Supersymmetric solution of PT-/non-PT-symmetric and non-Hermitian Morse potential is studied to get real and complex-valued energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions. Hamiltonian hierarchy method is used in the calculations.
