Abstract Legislation plays a key role in regulating beekeeping practices and biosecurity measures, but different countries present conflicting legislative frameworks in terms of allowing antibiotic use. Currently the EU and the UK only permit antibiotics under the cascade principle, but while the UK considers the application in cases of European Foulbrood, the EU strongly discourages antibiotic use. In the US, antibiotics are registered for honeybees and their treatments are regularly authorised. This study relied on an international survey to assess the current use of antibiotics and general awareness among beekeepers, within the three legislative contexts. The results showed a similar use of antibiotics in all three geographical areas, regardless of the legislative context. General use and awareness indicated that the EU and US would likely benefit from national inspectors. Furthermore, even though beekeepers were somewhat aware of the various risks associated with improper antibiotic use, they would likely benefit from targeted training on the matter.

Significance Bosnian Serb representatives are boycotting state institutions over the genocide law imposed by departing High Representative Valentin Inzko. Their leader, Milorad Dodik, is using it to promote his separatist message, which is inflaming inter-ethnic tensions and pitching Western and Eastern powers against each other. Impacts Facing waning influence and elections in 2022, Bosnia’s nationalists would rather deepen divisions than bridge them. The crisis is a difficult challenge for the United States and EU, and an opportunity for Russia, China and Turkey. Without a BiH Council of Ministers decision by end-September to extend temporary funding, state institutions may not pay salaries.

This study firstly analyses the general approaches of EU and US laws to the right to be forgotten. Then, basing on the right to be forgotten, a variety of dimensions from comparative law, court practice, doctrinal views and different legal sub-branches are considered from the aspect of Turkish law. Although there is no specific provision on the right to be forgotten in Turkish law, the right has been subject to doctrinal discussions from different perspectives. It is also referred to in court judgments, specifically when an individual wishes to erase certain news, data, etc. from the digital and/or non-digital archive so they can make a fresh start to a new life. Granting that person the right to be forgotten is in terms of protecting personality rights and privacy while acknowledging that these interests may compete with rights to press freedom and freedom of expression. After scrutinising the doctrinal view and court judgments, this study concludes that considering Turkish law, certain provisions should be enacted on the right to be forgotten to ensure uniform interpretation and clarify the definition and conditions of application.

Significance The government’s plan signals not only a new era in Hungarian-Chinese relations but also China’s more intensive presence within the EU. Heated debates within Hungary and the EU are likely about how to deal with this development. Impacts Further Chinese investments in Hungary are likely. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will oppose EU policy towards China even more openly. Western allies will watch Budapest for its close partnership with Beijing.
