Computer science ( CS ) majors are in high demand and account for a large part of national computer and information technology job market applicants. Employment in this sector is projected to grow 12% between 2018 and 2028, which is faster than the average of all other occupations. Published data are available on traditional non-computer science-specific hiring processes. However, the hiring process for CS majors may be different. It is critical to have up-to-date information on questions such as “what positions are in high demand for CS majors?,” “what is a typical hiring process?,” and “what do employers say they look for when hiring CS graduates?” This article discusses the analysis of a survey of 218 recruiters hiring CS graduates in the United States. We used Atlas.ti to analyze qualitative survey data and report the results on what positions are in the highest demand, the hiring process, and the resume review process. Our study revealed that a software developer was the most common job the recruiters were looking to fill. We found that the hiring process steps for CS graduates are generally aligned with traditional hiring steps, with an additional emphasis on technical and coding tests. Recruiters reported that their hiring choices were based on reviewing resume’s experience, GPA, and projects sections. The results provide insights into the hiring process, decision making, resume analysis, and some discrepancies between current undergraduate CS program outcomes and employers’ expectations.

The discourse of employability revolves around the mitigation of mismatch between educational outcomes and the job market demand.  This discourse is pertinent in engineering education as it is dedicated to producing human resources with the required employability skills. In this context, the students - to whom employability is transformed - are in the central focus. Their perceptions about their abilities in demonstrating and performing in the world of work require attention to connect education and their work. Considering this, the level of perceived employability of the engineering students studying in their final year was measured by using a self-constructed scale in a representative sample of 314 students of Kathmandu valley. The finding shows that the graduating students’ perceived employability was not consolidated and optimised to reflect on their behaviour and practices. It is at the level of ‘emergence’ and ‘presence’, which is thus not enough to see in their abilities to perform better. Therefore, the students were not able to perform as per the expectation of the market.  The key implication of this study is that the gap of work-study transition stipulated to be minimised for the employability of the graduates with their exposure in the world of work.

PurposePerson-environment (PE) fit theory suggests that value congruence (fit) leads to the job pursuits intention (Cable and Judge, 1996) which is also influenced by cultural norms (Ma and Allen, 2009). Due to stringent job market condition along with its people, as a part of collectivistic culture, having poor self-concept consistency, value congruence may unfold different phenomenon in Indian context. Therefore, the present study intends to explore the existing fit theory on different cultural norms and different job market condition with entry-level job pursuits as participants.Design/methodology/approachThe fit was measured both objectively and subjectively in a mixed method research design. Top 100 institutes ranked in NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) (under Management category) were approached for data collection and 41 institutes agreed to participate. Data were collected in four phases from 2,714 entry-level job pursuits and domain experts based on web-based job advertisements. Krippendorff's alpha was calculated for measuring objective fit, and the subjective fit was measured through quadratic structural equation modeling with response surface analysis.FindingsFindings revealed lack of value congruence objectively; and no influencing role of subjective fit in job pursuits intention. This indicated that neither Indian employers nor entry-level job pursuits were concerned about value congruence. The post-hoc analysis suggested that poor self-concept consistency as a cultural norm led to such atypical findings.Originality/valueThe present study suggests that fit may lead to different phenomena of entry-level job pursuits intention with different contextual and cultural norms.

As a way of conditioning this study, an understanding of the legislative evolution based on historical aspects, the description of Resolution No. 7/2018 and the structuring of a proposal for the curriculum of the administration course will be necessary. In focus group meetings, it was planned to carry out a pilot project for the offer in 2021/1 as can be identified in the study below. As a conclusion of the study, it is possible to identify that the implementation of this legislation will strengthen academic training by developing new technical and professional skills, qualifying students for the most competitive, dynamic and innovative job market.

This study explained that the post-Covid world of work would demand a new set of employability skills. Higher education institutions need to respond by preparing graduates with manifest post-COVID-19 employability skills through innovatively delivered curricula. Through literature review, the study identified post-Covid-19 in-demands employability skills and ways of innovatively fostering them. The study adopted the descriptive survey method and canvassed (104) faculty members’ (from 9 public universities) opinions through an online poll on the skills they considered relevant for post-pandemic graduate employability and integrating them into universities curricula. Data collected were descriptively analyzed using frequency count and percentage. Findings showed that when universities commit to innovative curriculum delivery, students can easily acquire skills and competencies required to effective security and create jobs in the post-Covid job market effectively recommended that universities should innovate their curricula by integrating post-Covid in-demands skills needed for students’ post-Covid job market.

The biome of JavaScript is constantly evolving and a new framework or library is launched on a regular basis claiming better features. This study focuses on giving guideline to the reader in the process of choosing the best technology by comparing the runtime performance of the MERN (MongoDB, Express, React.js and Node.js) and MEVN (V stands for Vue.js) stack as well as increasing their workability in the job market. To fulfill the purpose, an experiment was conducted to conclude how swift the said stacks perform in building a single page application. For the experiment, two easy to-do applications are built with MERN and MEVN and loading time, adding time, updating and deleting time of the tasks are measured. Moreover, to be able to reveal the software stack trend among the Swedish-based companies, a survey study was conducted. Out of approximately 70 companies contacted, 12 responded. Due to the low number of response on the survey drawing conclusions from the survey and generalizing, the result was challenging. However, the results gathered show that all the respondents use either Vue.js or React.js or both as their client-side software though they are not always combined with Node.js and MongoDB. Other preferred server-side software that are used in combination with React.js or Vue.js are Java, Go and Django. Some of the main factors that the respondents pointed out that affects their choice of software was the ease of learning, the community behind the software, clients’ need and availability of that specific software developer.
