Abstract This paper presents a detailed investigation on an asymmetric magnetic-coupled bending-torsion piezoelectric energy harvester based on harmonic excitation. There is an eccentricity between the shape center of moving magnets and the axis of the piezoelectric beam, which results in the bending and torsion simultaneously in working condition. The distributed mathematical model is derived from the energy method to describe the dynamic characteristics of the harvester, and the correctness of the model is verified by experiments. To further demonstrate the improvement performance of the proposed energy harvester, the bending-torsion energy harvester (i.e. magnetic-coupled was not configured) is experimented and compared. The theoretical and experimental results indicate that the average power increases about 300% but the resonance frequency decreases approximately 2 Hz comparing to the harvester without magnetic-coupled. According to the characteristic of distributed parameter model, the magnetic force and the size of the piezoelectric beam are investigated respectively. And the lumped-parameter model is introduced to analyze the steady-state characteristic. Accordingly, this paper provides a feasible method to improve performance for piezoelectric energy harvester.

In this paper, a method for the improvement of the calculation accuracy of the distributed parameter model (DPM) of electromagnetic devices is proposed based on the kriging basis function predictive identification program (PIP). Kriging is mainly an optimal interpolation method which uses spatial self-covariance, and takes a polynomial as the basis function. The accuracy of the kriging-based surrogate model can be improved by adjusting the related functions and hyperparameters. Based on the DPM of a solenoid valve, there exist certain errors in the estimation. They can be summarized as follows: Firstly, the estimation error of magnetic flux leakage (MFL) permeance is caused directly by the deviation of the magnetic flux tube due to the segmented magnetic field line. Secondly, the estimation error of soft magnetic resistance because of the nonlinearity of the permeability of soft magnetic material leads to the change of soft magnetic resistance alongside the magnetic flux. In this paper, an improved kriging error correction method is applied to modify the leak permeance and soft magnetic resistance calculation. The kriging basis function is adjusted to adapt to the data curve of the MFL permeance error data. The calculated MFL permeance data are compared with the error variation data to select the appropriate basis function. To improve the computational efficiency, the PIP is proposed to select the appropriate basis function. The modified MFL permeance data and soft magnetic resistance are substituted into the DPM for improving the computational accuracy and efficiency of the solenoid valve.

In this paper, the winding inductances of a linear ironless permanent-magnet synchronous actuator for high-precision applications is discussed. Different from rotary motors for conventional applications, high-order harmonics and the end effect due to discontinuous structure are considered. From such considerations, an improved Fourier series expansion is applied to the proposed distributed-parameter model of the linear winding. The calculated inductance matrix is of high accuracy, and presents a new non-uniform form. New features of the inductance matrix are analyzed, and the decoupling scheme is implemented via variable transformation and real-time updating inductances.

Previous studies using contrast-enhanced imaging for glioma isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation assessment showed promising yet inconsistent results, and this study attempts to explore this problem by using an advanced tracer kinetic model, the distributed parameter model (DP). Fifty-five patients with glioma examined using dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging sequence at a 3.0 T scanner were retrospectively reviewed. The imaging data were processed using DP, yielding the following parameters: blood flow F, permeability-surface area product PS, fractional volume of interstitial space Ve, fractional volume of intravascular space Vp, and extraction ratio E. The results were compared with the Tofts model. The Wilcoxon test and boxplot were utilized for assessment of differences of model parameters between IDH-mutant and IDH-wildtype gliomas. Spearman correlation r was employed to investigate the relationship between DP and Tofts parameters. Diagnostic performance was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and quantified using the area under the ROC curve (AUC). Results showed that IDH-mutant gliomas were significantly lower in F ( P  = 0.018), PS ( P < 0.001 ), Vp ( P < 0.001 ), E ( P < 0.001 ), and Ve ( P  = 0.002) than IDH-wildtype gliomas. In differentiating IDH-mutant and IDH-wildtype gliomas, Vp had the best performance (AUC = 0.92), and the AUCs of PS and E were 0.82 and 0.80, respectively. In comparison, Tofts parameters were lower in Ktrans ( P  = 0.013) and Ve ( P < 0.001 ) for IDH-mutant gliomas. No significant difference was observed in Kep ( P  = 0.525). The AUCs of Ktrans, Ve, and Kep were 0.69, 0.79, and 0.55, respectively. Tofts-derived Ve showed a strong correlation with DP-derived Ve (r > 0.9, P < 0.001 ). Ktrans showed a weak correlation with F (r < 0.3, P  > 0.16) and a very weak correlation with PS (r < 0.06, P  > 0.8), both of which were not statistically significant. The findings by DP revealed a tissue environment with lower vascularity, lower vessel permeability, and lower blood flow in IDH-mutant than in IDH-wildtype gliomas, being hostile to cellular differentiation of oncogenic effects in IDH-mutated gliomas, which might help to explain the better outcomes in IDH-mutated glioma patients than in glioma patients of IDH-wildtype. The advantage of DP over Tofts in glioma DCE data analysis was demonstrated in terms of clearer elucidation of tissue microenvironment and better performance in IDH mutation assessment.
